The apostle Paul and Barnabas in Iconium
And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed. But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren. Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands. But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles. And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them, they were ware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lieth round about: and there, they preached the gospel.-Acts 14:1-6***Before Paul (Saul) saw a light from heaven flash around him and heard the voice of Jesus, who had been crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, and returned to heaven, speaking to him, Paul was journeying to the synagogues in Damascus, Syria, to find, bind and take to Jerusalem any fellow Israelites (Hebrews/Jews) he found who believed Jesus to be the Christ, the Son of God. After seeing the light, and hearing the voice of Jesus, Paul spoke to Jesus, and obeyed Jesus, and in Damascus Paul was baptized. From thenceforward, Paul the apostle journeyed and wrote divinely inspired letters, teaching Israelites and Gentiles, people not born into the Israelite tribes, the good news of Jesus the Christ and everlasting life. In Antioch, Pisidia, in Asia Minor (Turkey), Paul was with other believers, including Barnabas, speaking to the Israelites. Many of the Gentiles in the city rejoiced and honored the message of Christ. The Israelite listeners kicked Paul and Barnabas out of Antioch, and Paul and Barnabas went to Iconium and experienced similar interactions.-Genesis 11:26-35:29, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 8:1-40, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 6:1-8:4, 9:1-31, 11:19-28:31, Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon
