The Old and the Bold

King David and some of his mighty men:

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow: And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear. These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men. He was more honourable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard. Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem, Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite, Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abiezer the Anethothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite, Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite, Heleb the son of Baanah, a Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai out of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin, Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash, Abialbon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite, Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan, Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Hararite, Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maachathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite, Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite, Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite, Zelek the Ammonite, Nahari the Beerothite, armourbearer to Joab the son of Zeruiah, Ira an Ithrite, Gareb an Ithrite, Uriah the Hittite: thirty and seven in all
.
-2 Samuel 23:20-39***King David was the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. David had at least 3 groups of mighty warriors. Benaiah, the son born to Jehoiada, stayed loyal to David and was loyal to David's son and successor King Solomon when others turned away to follow David's son Adonijah, who worked to proclaim himself king. Uriah was the husband of Bathsheba. After Bathsheba became pregnant from intimacy with David, David secretly sent Uriah to the battlefront so that Uriah would be killed. Asahel, Joab and Abishai were David's nephews, the sons of David's sister Zeruiah. Asahel was killed by Abner. Abner was the cousin and army commander of King Saul, the 1st king to reign over the Israelites in the Promised Land. After Saul's self-inflicted death on the battlefield, David reigned only over the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah, the tribe of his birth. Abner set Saul's son Ishbosheth as king over the other Israelite tribes.  After
Ishbosheth asked Abner a question regarding alleged intimacy, Abner aligned himself to David. Eventually, Joab killed Abner. When David was elderly, Adonijah sent Bathsheba to Solomon to make an intimate request. Benaiah killed Adonijah, per Solomon's command. According to the will of David and the command of Solomon, Benaiah killed Joab. Over 900 years after Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, became the 4th king to reign over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings 1:1-14:31, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles 1:1-12:16, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

'Tis Like

Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light. As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him. Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?-Amos 5:18-20***Amos was an Israelite, and a fruit tree worker, and shepherd, and began proclaiming the words of the Lord God to the Israelites when King Uzziah (Azariah) reigned in Jerusalem over the southern nation of Judah and King Jeroboam, the son born to King Jehoash (Joash), reigned in Samaria over the northern nation of Israel in the Promised Land. During Amos' lifetime, Judah and the northern nation of Israel still existed. Amos proclaimed the upcoming acts of the Lord God and the assurances of the Lord God to the Israelites. King Pekah was the 18th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. During Pekah's 20-year reign, the Assyrians invaded the kingdom and King Tiglath-pileser, ruler of Assyria, began taking Israelites to Assyria. During the 9th year of the reign of King Hoshea, the 19th king to rule the northern nation, the Assyrians conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Less than 140 years after Samaria was conquered, Uzziah's great-great-great-great-great-grandson Jehoiakim (Eliakim) became the 17th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiakim's 11-year reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the son born to Jehoiakim and Nehushta, was the 18th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiacin's 3-month reign, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin, his wives and mother, to Babylon. During the 11th year of the reign of Jehoiakim's brother King Zedekiah, the Babylonians conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah, the tribe of Uzziah and all of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Levi. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness.  Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Jesus told his disciples that he would be betrayed, and Jesus spoke to the disciples about the upcoming crucifixion, burial and resurrection that would happen. Moreover, Jesus spoke to his disciples about his return, the day known only to his Father, the Lord God in heaven, and Jesus described the darkness of the day.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Amos, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Nothing at All

From a letter written by the apostle Paul,
with Sosthenes,
to believers in Corinth and everywhere:

Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.-1 Corinthians 4:1-5***Over 1,900 years after Judah was born to Jacob (Israel) and his 1st wife Leah, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Jesus identified himself as the light of the world, and taught about the light of the world, and taught about believers, unbelievers and darkness. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot the disciple and apostle, and was arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, and resurrected. Paul was an Israelite from the tribe of Benjamin, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. Paul did not believe Jesus to be the Christ. Sometime after Jesus returned to heaven, and a group of Israelites fatally pelted Stephen, an Israelite believer, to death, Paul and those with him saw a light from heaven flash around them, and Paul heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him. Paul spoke to Jesus, and obeyed Jesus, and in Damascus, Syria, Paul was baptized. From thenceforward, Paul the apostle journeyed and wrote divinely inspired letters, teaching Israelites and Gentiles, people not born into the Israelite tribes, the good news of Jesus the Christ and everlasting life. In a letter Paul sent to believers in Corinth, Paul described some acts involving light and darkness that will occur when Jesus returns.-Genesis 11:26-35:29, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 8:1-40, 9:35-44, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 6:1-8:4, 9:1-31, 11:19-28:31, Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon

O Lord God

Psalm 9

I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High. When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at thy presence. For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; thou satest in the throne judging right. Thou hast rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name for ever and ever. O thou enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end: and thou hast destroyed cities; their memorial is perished with them. But the LORD shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment. And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness. The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings. When he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them: he forgetteth not the cry of the humble. Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death: That I may shew forth all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in thy salvation. The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken. The LORD is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah. The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. For the needy shall not alway be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever. Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight. Put them in fear, O LORD: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.-Psalm 9:1-20/the complete psalm

Some Explaining

The Words of

Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.-John 12:44-50

Always and Forever

A message the Lord God
gave Isaiah the prophet:

Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD's hand double for all her sins. The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever
.
-Isaiah 40:1-8***Isaiah the prophet proclaimed the words of the Lord God to the Israelites in Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land, when King Uzziah (Azariah) reigned, and during the reign of Uzziah's son King Jotham, and Jotham's son King Ahaz, and Ahaz's son King Hezekiah. Hezekiah, Jotham, Uzziah, and Uzziah's great-great-great-great-grandfather King Asa, and Asa's son King Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson King Josiah were the only kings who reigned in Jerusalem over Judah and worshiped the Lord God. All of Judah's other kings worshiped idols. Isaiah, Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, Hezekiah, and Josiah lived decades before the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 100 years before Jerusalem was conquered, the Assyrians invaded the northern nation of Israel and conquered the royal city, Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, were born. John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth). Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah, the tribe of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Before John the Baptist was physically conceived and born, an angel of the Lord revealed to Zechariah that John the Baptist would make people ready for the arrival of Jesus. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, John the Baptist baptized Jesus in the Jordan River. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. J
ohn the Baptist identified himself as the crier in the wilderness. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible identify John the Baptist as the crier proclaiming some of the specific words spoken by Isaiah. Jesus taught messages  regarding the divine words spokenthe words he was taught and  commanded to speak by his Father, the Lord God in heaven.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Each and Every One

From the Epistle of James,
in the New Testament of the Holy Bible:

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.-James 1:5-11

Yes or No

And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire; And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way. So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives. Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep. And David's two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite. And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God. And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech's son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David. And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all. So David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those that were left behind stayed.-1 Samuel 30:1-9***Years before David gave the command that led to the capture of a Jebusite fortress, and established the City of David, and began to reign as king over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, he lived on the run from King Saul. Saul was the 1st king to reign over the Israelites in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. At least twice, Saul did not obey the commands of the Lord God. While Saul reigned, the Lord God sent Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge from the tribe of Jacob's 3rd born son Levi, to anoint David to reign as king. David continued working as a shepherd for his father Jesse, and began working as a musician and an armor-bearer for Saul. After David killed Goliath the gigantic Philistine, Saul placed David over command of some troops. After Israelite women sang of David higher than they sang of Saul, Saul was angry. After Saul realized that the Lord God was with David, Saul was afraid of David. Saul sent David on lethal missions, and tried to kill David and commanded his son Jonathan and others to kill David. David's wife Michal was Saul's daughter and helped David escape from their home. Four hundred men joined David, and at least 200 more men joined David. David and the men stayed in a cave, a forest, the wilderness, and upon a mountain. In Maon, David spoke with Abigail, Nabal's wife. After Nabal died, according to the will of the Lord God, Abigail became David's wife. Sometime thereafter, David, his men, their families, and David's wives Abigail and Ahinoam began living in Gath, a principal city of the Philistines and the homeland of Goliath. Philistine King Achish gave Ziklag, another Philistine city, permanently to David. Thus, Abigail, Ahinoam, and David's men and their families lived in Ziklag with David. When David and his men were with Achish and the Philistines to supposedly help the Philistines defeat the Israelites, a group of Amalekites raided Ziklag. Over 1,000 years after Jonathan and his brothers Malchishua and Abinadab (Ishui) were killed by the Philistines, and Saul's self-inflicted death on the same battlefield, and the beginning of David's reign only over the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah, the tribe of David's birth, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings 1:1-2:12, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
