-was intimate with Hagar, Sarah's Egyptian maidservant, according to Sarah's suggestion and with Sarah's permission. Ishmael was born to 86-year-old Abraham and Hagar.

-sent his top servant to relatives in Haran, to find a maiden among them for Isaac to marry. The servant returned with Rebekah.
-married Keturah. Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah were born to Abraham and Keturah.
