A message the Lord God revealed

 to Isaiah the prophet:

The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap. The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid. The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.-Isaiah 17:1-3

And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean. And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim.-Isaiah 17:4-5

Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel. At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel. And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images. In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation. Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips: In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.-Isaiah 17:6-11***Isaiah was an Israelite and a prophet of the Lord God. Damascus was the principal city of Syria. King David was the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. During David's reign, Syrians (Arameans) from Damascus arrived to help the enemies attacking David and the kingdom of the Israelites. David and his army defeated the Syrians, and established posts in Damascus, and the Syrians were forced to regularly pay sums to David. Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to reign, and Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to rule over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. In the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible, the northern nation of Israel is sometimes identified as Ephraim. Ephraim was the 2nd son born to Joseph and his wife Asenath. Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel. However, Jacob proclaimed Ephraim and Ephraim's older brother Manasseh to be his own sons. The Ephraimites were a large and strong tribe in the northern nation of Israel. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Rehoboam's grandson Asa was the 3rd king to rule Judah. During Asa's 41-year reign, Asa paid Tabrimon's son Ben-hadad, ruler of Syria (Aram), to help him against the hostile activities of King Baasha, the 3rd king to rule the northern nation of Israel, and Ben-hadad successfully attacked multiple cities in the northern nation. King Ahab was the 7th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. During Ahab's 22-year reign, Ahab defeated the Syrians (Arameans) twice, according to the will of the Lord God. Afterwards, Ahab made a covenant with Ben-hadad that involved Damascus. King Jehoash (Joash) was the 12th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. Jehoash's son Jeroboam was the 13th king, and during Jeroboam's 41-year reign, he recaptured Damascus for the Israelites. Asa's great-grandson Ahaziah was the 6th king to rule Judah. Joash (Jehoash), the son born to Ahaziah and Zibiah, was 7th king to rule Judah. During the latter end of Joash's 40-year reign, the Syrians (Arameans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem, killed Judah's idol worshiping princes, sent the valuables that belonged to the dead princes to Damascus, and left Joash physically ailing. Joash's great-great-grandson Ahaz was the 11th king to rule Judah, and King Pekah was the 18th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. During Ahaz's 16-year reign, Pekah killed many Israelites in Judah and took Israelites away before the Israelite captives were led back towards Judah. Moreover, King Rezin and his army from Damascus killed many Israelites in Judah and took some Israelites to Damascus. Pekah and Rezin conspired to conquer  Ahaz and Jerusalem, and enemies from 2 other idol worshiping nations successfully invaded Judah. Ahaz sought help from King Tiglath-pileser, ruler of Assyria. Tiglath-pileser conquered Damascus, killed Rezin and began taking Israelites from the northern nation captive. Meanwhile, Ahaz began worshiping the idols worshiped by the Syrians in Damascus. During the 9th year of the reign of King Hoshea, the 19th king to rule the northern nation of Israel, the Assyrians conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Isaiah proclaimed the words of the Lord God to the Israelites during the latter portion of the reign of Ahaz's grandfather, King Uzziah (Azariah), the 9th king to rule Judah, and during the reign of Uzziah's son and Ahaz's father King Jotham, the 10th king to rule Judah, and during Ahaz's reign, and during the reign of Ahaz's son Hezekiah, the 12th king to rule Judah. Hezekiah's great-great-grandson Jehoiakim (Eliakim) wqs the 17th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiakim's 11-year reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the son born to Jehoiakim and Nehushta, was the 18th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiachin's 3-month reign, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin, his wives and mother, to Babylon. During the 11th year of the reign of Jehoiakim's brother King Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the 19th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians conquered  Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, were born. John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Jacob's 3rd born son Levi to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth). Jesus the Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah, the tribe of David and his descendants, all of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world, and testified that Jesus is the Son of God. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Jesus  taught that the Lord God is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and Jesus taught of the prophecies Isaiah proclaimed to the Israelites. Elisha the prophet and Naaman

Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper. And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman's wife. And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy. And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel. And the king of Syria said, Go to, go, and I will send a letter unto the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment. And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have therewith sent Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy. And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me. And it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.-2 Kings 5:1-8***Over 300 years after Joshua led his fellow Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, Saul became the 1st king to rule over the Israelites in the Promised Land. and King Ahaz

And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up toward Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it. And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is confederate with Ephraim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind. Then said the LORD unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shear-jashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller's field; And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.  Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have taken evil counsel against thee, saying, Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal: Thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass. For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be broken, that it be not a people. And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established. Moreover the LORD spake again unto Ahaz, saying, Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above. But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD. And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also? Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good. For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings. The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.-Isaiah 7:1-17***In Padan Aram, Haran, Jacob (Israel) was married to Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Laban the Syrian (Aramean). Laban was Jacob's uncle, and Laban's sister Rebekah was Jacob's mother. Jacob and his older fraternal twin brother Esau (Edom) were the only children born to their parents Rebekah and Isaac, and Isaac was the only child born to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai). Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and daughter Dinah were born to Jacob (Israel) and Leah. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and maidservant Bilhah. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and maidservant Zilpah. Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel. Rachel and Joseph were Jacob's favorites. During Jacob's 20th year in Haran, he began journeying home to Canaan with his family, servants, animals, and possessions. Near Bethlehem, Benjamin was born to Jacob and Rachel, and Rachel died. Joseph was 17 years old when his brothers sold him to merchants traveling to Egypt and led Jacob to believe that Joseph was killed by a wild beast, and Joseph was 30 years old when Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, proclaimed him second-in-command. When Jacob was 130 years old, he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt. In Egypt, Jacob proclaimed Manasseh and Ephraim, the sons born to Joseph and his wife Asenath, to be his own sons, and the tribe of Joseph became the tribe of Manasseh and the tribe of Ephraim. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt, and Jacob's family buried his body in Canaan, and 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were born into the tribe of Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, the Lord God sent them to speak to the Israelite elders and Pharaoh. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam the prophetess died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron the high priest died. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses the prophet died, and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' aide and successor from the tribe of Ephraim, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Jacob, and to Jacob's father Isaac, and to Isaac's father Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to their descendants. After 110-year-old Joshua died, and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, the Israelites were led by elders, judges, and their own minds. The Lord God sent Isaiah the prophet to Ahaz with a message of assurance, and permission for Ahaz to receive a sign of assurance. Pekah and Rezin were unsuccessful in their mission against Jerusalem, although Rezin successfully captured Elath, a city under Judah's control.  After Ahaz and the Israelites in Judah suffered other losses against the armies of Pekah, Rezin, the Edomites, and the Philistines, according to the will of the Lord God, due to Ahaz's wickedness, Ahaz sought help from King Tiglath-pileser, ruler of Assyria. During Pekah's 20-year reign, the Assyrians invaded the northern nation of Israel and Tiglath-pileser began taking Israelites captive. During the 9th year of the reign of King Hoshea, the 19th king to rule the northern nation of Israel, the Assyrians conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Less than 125 years after Samaria was conquered, Ahaz's great-great-great-grandson Jehoiakim (Eliakim) became the 17th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiakim's 11-year reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. Know What

Elisha the prophet, and Hazael,

and King Ben-had, ruler of Syria (Aram)

And Elisha came to Damascus; and Ben-hadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come hither. And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in the thine hand, and go, meet the man of God, and enquire of the LORD by him, saying, Shall I recover of this disease? So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels' burden, and came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Ben-hadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover of this disease? And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit the LORD hath shewed me that he shall surely die. And he settled his countenance stedfastly, until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept. And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child. And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The LORD hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria. So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master; who said to him, What said Elisha to thee? And he answered, He told me that thou shouldest surely recover. During Ahab's 22-year reign, Elijah the prophet  went to Beersheba in Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land, to avoid being killed by Jezebel, Ahab's wife. In Judah, Elijah prayed to the Lord God and asked to die. An angel of the Lord instructed Elijah 2 separate times to rise and eat. After being nourished with food and water, Elijah went to Mount Horeb, the mountain of God, and experienced a divine encounter with the Lord God, and received commands from the Lord God. The Lord God told Elijah to go to Damascus, Syria (Aram), and anoint Hazael to reign as king over Syria, and the Lord God told Elijah to anoint Jehu to reign as king over the northern nation of Israel in the Promised Land, and anoint Elisha to serve as prophet. Sometime thereafter, Ahab was wounded in a battle against the Syrians and died, and Elijah went up into heaven by a whirlwind. When Elisha went to Damascus, King Benhadad, ruler of Syria, was ill. Over 775 years after Elisha became sick and died, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. King Jehoash and King Hazael

Then Hazael king of Syria went up, and fought against Gath, and took it: and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem. And Jehoash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram, and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and in the king's house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.-2 Kings 12:17-18***Joshua was an Israelite from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Eohraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Aaron and his younger brother Moses were Israelites from the tribe of Levi, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah and tir 3rd born son Levi. Forty years after Moses and Aaron led the Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, into the desert wilderness of Shur, and the desert wilderness of Sin, and the desert wilderness of Sinai, 123-year-old Aaron the high priest died, and Moses went upon Mount Nebo. The Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses the prophet died, and was divinely buried. Joshua was Moses' aide and successor. After the Lord God spoke to Joshua, and Joshua sent 2 spies to Canaan, the Promised Land, and Rahab hid the spies, and the spies returned. Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Over 300 years after 110-year-old Joshua died, and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Saul, from the tribe of Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin, became the 1st king to reign. David, from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah, was the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites. Solomon, a son born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king. During the 4th year of his 40-year reign, Solomon began building the temple of the Lord, and in the 11th year workers finished building the temple in Jerusalem. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to rule over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Rehoboam's great-grandson Jehoshaphat was the 4th king to rule Judah, and Jehoshaphat's son Jehoram (Joram) was the 5th king. Ahaziah, the son born to Jehoram and Athaliah, was the 6th king to rule Judah. When Athaliah learned that Ahaziah was wounded and died, she put her royal descendants to death and began to rule Judah. Ahaziah's sister Jehosheba (Jehoshabeath) took Ahaziah's 1-year-old Jehoash (Joash) and Jehoash's nurse to the temple  of the Lord, and Jehosheba's husband Jehoiada the priest kept Jehoash hidden. Jehoash was 7 years old when Jehoiada presented him as Judah's rightful ruler. The crown was put upon Jehoash and Jehoash was anointed and became the 7th king to rule Judah. Athaliah was killed. Jehoiada observed the Ten Commandments that the Israelite ancestors heard the voice of the Lord proclaim to them, and obeyed the judgments, statutes, and laws that the Lord God gave Moses for the Israelites, and Jehoiada taught Jehoash to obey the words of the Lord God. After 130-year-old Jehoiada died, Jehoash was led into idolatry, and Jehoash and his officials led the Israelites throughout Judah and Jerusalem into idolatry. Several prophets of the Lord God tried to turn the Israelites back to the Lord God. However, the Israelites ignored the prophets and their pleas. When Jehoiada's son Zechariah proclaimed the words of the Lord God to the Israelites, Jehoash commanded that Zechariah be stoned to death.  King Hazael, ruler of Syria (Aram),   conquered Gath, a Philistine city, and wanted to conquer Jerusalem. Jehoash made a move to stay alive and remain king. In the 40th year of his reign, Jehoash was killed by Jozabad (Jozachar/Zabad) and Jehozabad. Over 700 years after Amaziah, the son born to Joash and Jehoaddan, became the 8th king to rule Judah, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born.
