And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt. And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters. And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth: Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father. And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day. And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Ben-ammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.-Genesis 19:29-38***When Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) lived in Ur in southern Mesopotamia, the Lord God appeared to Abraham and told Abraham to depart from his country and kin and come into the land he would be shown. Abraham journeyed away from Ur with his wife Sarah (Sarai), their father Terah and nephew Lot. Sometime after 205-year-old Terah died in Haran, Abraham journeyed with Sarah, Lot, their servants, and possessions to Canaan, and the Lord God promised to give Canaan to Abraham's descendants and Abraham. When there was a famine in Canaan, Abraham, Sarah and Lot went to Egypt and returned to Canaan. The quantity of possessions owned by Abraham and Lot caused Abraham to tell Lot that they should live apart from each other. Lot chose to moved eastward. Sometime thereafter, Lot and others in the region of Sodom and Gomorrah were kidnapped. Abraham and his men rescued everyone and recovered everything that the enemies had stolen. Over 10 years later, Abraham spoke to the Lord God about Sodom any righteous inhabitants before the Lord God destroyed Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboim, and the surrounding region. Lot, his wife and their 2 daughters escaped the destruction, although Lot's wife looked back and became a pillar of salt. The Moabites and Ammonites were enemies of Abraham and Sarah's descendants the Israelites. However, Ruth, the great-grandmother of King David, was a Moabite, and David's son and successor Solomon, the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, was married to several Moabite women. Over 900 years after Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, became the 4th king to reign over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born.
