...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Romans 15:4 (KJV) reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

The apostle Paul and Silas

And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed. And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house. And when it was day, the magistrates sent the serjeants, saying, Let those men go. And the keeper of the prison told this saying to Paul, The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore depart, and go in peace.
But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out. And the serjeants told these words unto the magistrates: and they feared, when they heard that they were Romans. And they came and besought them, and brought them out, and desired them to depart out of the city. And they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed.-Acts 16:25-40***Paul (Saul) and Silas (Silvanus) were Israelites and Roman citizens and believed Jesus to be the Christ, the Son of God. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveals that Paul was born into the tribe of Benjamin. The tribe that Silas was born into is not revealed in the King James Version of the Holy Bible. Benjamin was the 2nd and last son born to Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel. Jacob and his older fraternal twin brother Esau (Edom) were born to Isaac and Rebekah. Isaac was born to 100-year-old Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and 90-year-old Sarah (Sarai). Abraham, Sarah, Haran, and Nahor (Nachor) were born to Terah. Terah was the great-great-great-great-great-grandson of Arphaxad, and Arphaxad was born to Shem, and Shem was born to Noah the ark builder. Lot and Milcah were born to Haran. Bethuel the Syrian (Aramean) was born to Nahor and Milcah. Shem's son Aram was the forefather of the Arameans. Abraham was living with his family in Ur, in southern Mesopotamia, when the Lord God appeared to him and told Abraham to go out from his country, kin and father's house and come into the land he would be shown. Abraham journeyed away from Ur with his wife Sarah, their father Terah and nephew Lot and began living in Haran, in northern Mesopotamia. After 205-year-old Terah died in Haran, 75-year-old Abraham, 65-year-old Sarah, and Lot journeyed with their servants and possessions to Canaan, land inhabited by idolters that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham's descendants and childless Abraham. Ishmael was born in Canaan to 86-year-old Abraham and Hagar, Sarah's maidservant, When Abraham was 99 years old, the Lord God gave him the covenant of circumcision and Abraham circumcised 13-year-old Ishmael, and Abraham and all the males throughout Abraham's household and property were immediately circumcised. Isaac was born to 100-year-old Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. On the 8th day after Isaac was born, Abraham circumcised Isaac. Laban the Syrian (Aramean) and Rebekah were born to Bethuel. Forty years after Isaac was born, he was married to Rebekah. Jacob and Esau were born when Isaac was 60 years old. Esau was Isaac's favorite, and Jacob was Rebekah's favorite. In Padan Aram, Haran, Jacob was married to Laban's daughters Leah and Rachel. Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and daughter Dinah were born to Jacob and Leah. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant. Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob and Rachel, and Rachel and Joseph were Jacob's favorites. During Jacob's 20th year in Haran, he began journeying home to Canaan with his family, servants, animals, and possessions. Near Bethlehem, Benjamin was born and Rachel died. Joseph was 17 years old when his brothers sold him to merchants traveling to Egypt and led Jacob to believe that Joseph was killed by a wild beast, and Joseph was 30 years old when Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, proclaimed him second-in-command. Noah's son Ham, and Ham's son Mizraim were the forefathers of the Egyptians. Jacob was 130 years old when he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt. In Egypt, Jacob proclaimed Manasseh and Ephraim, the sons born to Joseph and his wife Asenath, to be his own sons, and the tribe of Joseph became the tribe of Manasseh and the tribe of Ephraim. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt, and Jacob's family buried his body in Canaan, and 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were born into the tribe of Levi to Amram and Jochebed. Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83 when they led the Israelites away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, into the desert wilderness of Shur, and the desert wilderness of Sin, and the desert wilderness of Sinai, according to the commands of the Lord God. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam the prophetess died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron the high priest died. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses the prophet died, and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' aide and successor from the tribe of Ephraim, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Over 300 years after 110-year-old Joshua died, and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin, became the 1st king to reign. David, from the tribe of Judah, was the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites. Solomon, a son born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king. During the 4th year of his 40-year reign, Solomon began building the temple of the Lord, and in the 11th year, workers finished building the temple in Jerusalem. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to rule over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. Approximately 200 years after Jeroboam's son Nadab became the 2nd king to rule the northern nation of Israel, the Assyrians invaded the kingdom and conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Less than 140 years after Samaria was conquered, Rehoboam's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Zedekiah (Mattaniah) became the 19th king to rule Judah. During the 11th year of Zedekiah's reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, the angel Gabriel appeared to elderly, childless Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and told Zechariah that his prayer was heard, and and told him about the conception, birth, and purpose of the son who would be born to Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth). The angel Gabriel told Zechariah to name the child John, and said the birth of John was going to cause rejoicing and gladness, and John would be great in the eyes of the Lord, and would be filled with the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost) while in Elizabeth's womb, and would bring many Israelites back to the Lord, and prepare people for the Lord. During the 6th month that elderly Elizabeth was carrying John the Baptist in her womb, the Lord God sent the angel Gabriel to Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin. The angel Gabriel said Mary was favored with grace, and the Lord was with Mary, and Mary was blessed among women. The angel Gabriel told Mary not to fear, and said Mary had favor with the Lord God, and Mary would give birth to a Son, and Mary was to name the Son Jesus, and Jesus, the Son of the Highest (the Most High) would be conceived of the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb. Joseph was the craftsman pledged to wed Mary. After Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in Mary's wound when Mary was a virgin, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph when Joseph was asleep and told Joseph, in a dream, not to be afraid to receive Mary as his wife, and explained that the child in Mary's womb was conceived of the Holy Spirit, and Joseph was to name the Son Jesus, and Jesus will save his people from their sins. Months after John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi to Zechariah and Elizabeth, Jesus, the Christ, the Son of God, was born in Bethlehem into the tribe of Judah, the tribe of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. On the 8th day after John the Baptist was born, he was circumcised, and on the 8th day after Jesus the Christ was born, Jesus was circumcised. During the 12th year after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Joseph and Mary found Jesus in the temple in Jerusalem, listening asking, understanding, and answering. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world, and testified that Jesus is the Son of God. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites. Before Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, and after Jesus was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people and taken up into heaven less than 3 1/2 years after he was baptized, the Roman Empire was ruling the land whereupon the kingdoms of the Israelites previously stood. Paul was from Tarsus, Cilicia, in Asia Minor (modern Turkey), the Anatolian peninsula in the western part of Asia, and was a Pharisee, and during that era did not believe Jesus to be the Christ. Throughout Jerusalem Paul persecuted and imprisoned Israelites who believed Jesus to be the Christ of God. When Paul was journeying to the synagogues in Damascus, Syria, to find, bind and take to Jerusalem any Israelite believers he found, Paul and those with him saw a light from heaven flash around them. Paul heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him, and Paul spoke to Jesus and obeyed Jesus. In Damascus Paul was baptized. From thenceforward, Paul the apostle journeyed and wrote divinely inspired letters teaching Israelites and Gentiles, people not born into the Israelite tribes, the good news of Jesus the Christ and everlasting life. Paul and Barnabas were in Paphos, on the island of Cyprus, when Paul proclaimed that a time of blindness be upon Bar-Jesus (Elymas), a false prophet magician. In Pisidian Antioch, Paul and Barnabas declared the word of the Lord to Israelites and Gentiles and were expelled from the region. Paul, Barnabas, Silas, and Judas Barsabas were together in Jerusalem before they were sent to Antioch. After a dispute between Paul and Barnabas, Paul took Silas with him to Syria, Cilicia, Derbe, Lystra, Phyrgia, Galatia, Troas, (Samothrace (Samothracia), Neapolis, and Philippi, Lydia and the women with her were praying on the Sabbath day and heard Paul's message. Lydia was baptized, and those in Lydia's household were baptized, and Lydia made a conditional plea for Paul and those with him to stay in her home. Another day, while going to pray, Paul commanded a spirit to come out of a fortune-telling girl, and the men who profited from the damsel dragged Paul and Silas to the rulers in the marketplace, and to the magistrates, and made claims about the customs Paul and Silas were preaching in a Roman province. The garments worn by Paul and Silas was torn off, and Paul and Silas were beaten, and cast into prison, and thrown into the inner prison, and their feet were put in wooden stocks.-Genesis, Exodus, Numbers 13:1-14:45, Deuteronomy 31:1-34:12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra 1:1-11, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 6:1-8:4, 9:1-31, 11:19-28:31, Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon

Elisha the prophet
and King Joash (Jehoash)

Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows. And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands. And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them. And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed. And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice. And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year. And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet. But Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz. And the LORD was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet. So Hazael king of Syria died; and Ben-hadad his son reigned in his stead. And Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Ben-hadad the son of Hazael the cities, which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Three times did Joash beat him, and recovered the cities of Israel
.
-2 Kings 13:14-25***Elisha the prophet and King Joash (Jehoash) were Israelites descended from Noah the ark builder, Noah's son Shem, Shem's son Arphaxad, Arphaxad's great-great-great-great-great-grandson Terah, Terah's children Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), their son Isaac and his wife Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). Jacob's wives Leah and Rachel were the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean). Shem's son Aram was the forefather of the Arameans. Laban and Rebekah were born to Bethuel the Syrian (Aramean). Bethuel was born to Terah's son Nahor (Nachor) and Nahor's wife Milcah. Milcah and Lot were born to Terah's son Haran. The Moabites and Ammonites descended from Lot and Lot's daughters. Moab, the forefather of the Moabites, was the son born to Lot and Lot's oldest daughter, and Ben-ammi, the forefather of the Ammonites, was the son born to Lot and Lot's youngest daughter. In Padan Aram, Haran, Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and daughter Dinah were born to Jacob and Leah. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant. David defeated the Syrians (Arameans) at least 3 times, and stationed officers in Damascus, Syria, and the Syrians in Damascus were compelled to make payments to David. Amid the aftermath of condolences, Syrians (Arameans) arrived to help the Ammonites defeat David, and the Syrians fled, were reassembled and defeated. Before 70-year-old David died, Solomon, a son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king. During the 4th year of his 40-year reign, Solomon began building the temple of the Lord, and in the 11th year, workers finished building the temple in Jerusalem. Solomon entered into a horse trading business with the Egyptians, and the Syrians purchased horses from Solomon. Israel was the northern nation, Shechem served as the royal city, and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. Jeroboam established idolatry and a random program of priests throughout the kingdom. Jeroboam's son Nadab was the 2nd king to rule the northern nation of Israel. Baasha killed Nadab and became the 3rd king to rule the northern nation of Israel. Rehoboam's son Abijam (Abijah) was the 2nd king to rule Judah, and Abijam's son Asa was the 3rd king. D
uring his 41-year reign, Asa gave silver and gold from the temple and the royal palace to Ben-hadad, ruler of Syria, with a request for help against Baasha. Ben-hadad's army attacked several cities in the northern nation of Israel, including all of the storage cities in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Naphtali. Hanani the prophet proclaimed the words of the Lord God to Asa, and Asa imprisoned Hanani. Baasha's son Elah was the 4th king to rule the northern nation of Israel. Commander Zimri killed Elah and became the 5th king to rule the northern nation of Israel. Zimri reigned 7 days before the Israelites appointed Omri, another commander, as king, and went with Omri and surrounded Tirzah, the royal city. Zimri went into the palace in Tirzah, set fire to the building and died in the flames. A division arose among the Israelites, with 1/2 of them following Omri and the other 1/2 following Tibni. After Tibni's death, Omri became the 6th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel, and Samaria became the final royal city. Omri's son Ahab was the 7th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. Ahab's wife Jezebel was a Sidonian (Zidonian) princess descended from Ham's son Canaan and Canaan's firstborn son Sidon (Zidon). During Ahab's 22-year reign, Elijah the prophet began proclaiming the words of the Lord God to the Israelites. Upon Mount Carmel, Elijah challenged Jezebel's false prophets and the Israelites. At the Kishon Valley, Elijah put Jezebel's false prophets to death. Ahab reported the incidents to Jezebel, and Jezebel made a vow in a message to Elijah, and Elijah bolted to Judah, and twice received and obeyed the instructions of an angel of the Lord. Upon Mount Horeb (Sinai), the mountain of God, Elijah experienced a divine encounter and heard the voice of the Lord God speaking to him. Elijah answered the Lord God, and the Lord God told Elijah to anoint Hazael to reign as king over Syria (Aram), and anoint army commander Jehu to reign as king over the northern nation of Israel, and anoint Elisha as Elijah's successor. With 32 kings and their armies, Ben-hadad arrived to battle Ahab, and a prophet of the Lord God revealed that Ahab would be victorious, according to the will of the Lord God. The next year, Ben-hadad returned to fight, and a prophet of the Lord God revealed that, according to the will of the Lord God, Ahab would be victorious. Ahab was victorious and made a covenant with Ben-hadad, and another prophet revealed a message from the Lord God to Ahab. Jehoshaphat, the son born to Asa and Azubah, was the 4th king to rule Judah. When Ahab and Jehoshaphat were battling the Syrians (Arameans), Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord God diverted the Syrians away from Jehoshaphat. Ahab was killed, and Ahab and Jezebel's son Ahaziah became the 8th king to reign, before Ahaziah's brother Jehoram (Joram) became the 9th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. At the Jordan River, Elisha saw a chariot of fire and horses of fire and watched as Elijah went up in the whirlwind into the heavens. Naaman was a leprous army commander in Syria (Aram). The king of Syria heard about Elisha and sent Naaman with a letter, silver, gold and clothing to Jehoram. Elisha intervened, and gave Naaman a command, and after Naaman obeyed the command, Naaman was healed. Elisha gave Jehoram warnings about the Syrian king's upcoming attacks, and the Syrians surrounded Elisha, and Elisha's servant, and Elisha prayed to the Lord God, and the eyes of Elisha's servant were opened, and the servant saw a divine sight, and the Syrians were led to Samaria, and nourished and released. Sometime thereafter, Ben-hadad surrounded Samaria and caused a famine in the city, and Elisha revealed that the famine would end the next day, according to the will of the Lord God. Jehoshaphat's son Jehoram (Joram) was the 5th king to rule Judah, and Jehoram was married to Athaliah, Ahab's daughter. Ahaziah, the son born to Jehoram and Athaliah, was the 6th king to rule Judah. Jehoram and Athaliah's son Ahaziah went with Ahab and Jezebel's son Jehoram to battle Hazael and his Syrian (Aramean) army, and Ahab and Jezebel's son Jehoram was wounded. Elisha sent a younger prophet to anoint Jehu, and Jehu killed Jehoram, and Ahaziah was wounded and died, and Jezebel was killed, and Ahab's 70 descendants were killed and beheaded, and Ahab's associates and priests were put to death, and 42 of Ahaziah's relatives were killed. Jehu became an idolater and died in the 28th year of his reign, and Jehu's son Jehoahaz became the 11th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. Jehoahaz was an idolater, and the Lord God delivered the kingdom into the hands of Hazael and Hazael's son and successor Ben-hadad. Jehoahaz pleaded to the Lord God, and the Lord God gave the Israelites a deliverer, and the Israelites continued worshiping idols. At least 800 years after Jehoahaz's son Jehoash (Joash) became the 12th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel and recaptured cities previously taken by the Syrians, John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, were born. John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth). Jesus the Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born in Bethlehem into the tribe of Judah, the tribe of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. On the 8th day after John the Baptist was born, he was circumcised, and on the 8th day after Jesus the Christ was born, Jesus was circumcised, according to the covenant of circumcision that the Lord God gave Abraham. During the 12th year after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Joseph and Mary found Jesus in the temple in Jerusalem, listening, asking, understanding, and answering. Throughout Syria, people heard about Jesus the Christ.

Oh

Micah and the Danites

And the five men that went to spy out the land went up, and came in thither, and took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: and the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred men that were appointed with weapons of war. And these went into Micah's house, and fetched the carved image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image. Then said the priest unto them, What do ye? And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel? And the priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod, and the teraphim, and the graven image, and went in the midst of the people. So they turned and departed, and put the little ones and the cattle and the carriage before them. And when they were a good way from the house of Micah, the men that were in the houses near to Micah's house were gathered together, and overtook the children of Dan. And they cried unto the children of Dan. And they turned their faces, and said unto Micah, What aileth thee, that thou comest with such a company? And he said, Ye have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and ye are gone away: and what have I more? and what is this that ye say unto me, What aileth thee? And the children of Dan said unto him, Let not thy voice be heard among us, lest angry fellows run upon thee, and thou lose thy life, with the lives of thy household. And the children of Dan went their way: and when Micah saw that they were too strong for him, he turned and went back unto his house.-Judges 18:17-26***The Danites, the Israelites in the tribe of Dan, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and Bilhah, and Jacob and Bilhah's firstborn son Dan. Bilhah was the maidservant of Jacob's 2nd wife Rachel. Rachel and her older sister Leah were the daughters of Laban the Syrian (Aramean), and Leah was Jacob's 1st wife. In Padan Aram, Haran, Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and daughter Dinah were born to Jacob and Leah. Naphtali was the 2nd son born to Jacob and Bilhah, and Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant. Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob and Rachel, and Rachel and Joseph were Jacob's favorites. During Jacob's 20th year in Haran, he began journeying home to Canaan with his family, servants, animals, and possessions. Near Bethlehem, Benjamin was born to Jacob and Rachel, and Rachel died. Joseph was 17 years old when his brothers sold him to merchants traveling to Egypt and led Jacob to believe that Joseph was killed by a wild beast. The merchants sold Joseph to Potiphar, an Egyptian official. Potiphar's wife made a false accusation, and Potiphar put Joseph in prison. At least 2 years after Joseph explained the meaning of a dream to the imprisoned cupbearer who served Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and explained the meaning of a dream to Pharaoh's imprisoned baker, 30-year-old Joseph explained the meaning of a dream to Pharaoh, and proclaimed him second-in-command. After the 2nd time that Joseph's brothers were in Egypt during a famine to buy corn (grain), Joseph identified himself to them and told his brothers to move with their families, including Jacob, to Egypt. Pharaoh heard about the reunion and expressed his generosity and hospitality. In Beersheba, Canaan, Jacob offered sacrifices to the Lord God, and the Lord God spoke to 130-year-old Jacob. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron the high priest died, and Aaron's son Eleazar became Eleazar's successor. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that the Lord God gave Moses commands about dividing the Promised Land, and the Lord God identified the men, including Eleazar, who were to fulfill the task. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses the prophet died, and was divinely buried. Joshua was Moses' aide and successor from the tribe of Ephraim. The Lord God spoke to Joshua, and Joshua sent 2 spies to Canaan, and Rahab hid the spies, and the spies returned, and Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. The Israelites, led by Joshua, destroyed Jericho, and Ai, and other kingdoms, and kings, before Joshua, Eleazar and the 10 tribal leaders specified by the Lord God began allotting each tribe its portion of the Promised Land. After 110-year-old Joshua died, and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, the Israelites were led by elders, judges and their own minds. Some of the land allotted to the tribe of Dan was occupied by the Amorites, people too strong for the Danites to expel. The Amorites forced the Danites into the mountain, and the Danites sent 5 spies to find another area for their tribe to inhabit. During their journey, the 5 spies stopped near the home of Micah, and heard and questioned Jonathan, a Levite. Jonathan was born to Gershom, and Gershom and his younger brother Eliezer were born to Moses and Zipporah, and Zipporah was the daughter of Jethro (Reuel), a Midianite descended from Abraham and his 2nd wife Keturah, and their son Midian. Jonathan was living in Micah's home and serving as Micah's priest. After Jonathan answered the Danites, the Danites went to Laish, and saw that the city could be easily captured, and the Danites returned home anticipating an upcoming victory. The 5 spies and 600 armed Danites set out to dispossess the Laish inhabitants, and stopped at Micah's house and stole Micah's religious artifacts and Jonathan. Samuel the priest, prophet and judge was born into the tribe of Levi to Elkanah and Hannah. When Samuel was elderly, and his sons Joel (Vashni) and Abiah (Abijah) were not obeying the commands of the Lord God, and King Nahash and his Ammonite army were preparing to attack, the Israelite elders demanded that Samuel appoint a king to lead them, and Samuel anointed Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin to reign, according to the command of the Lord God. Approximately 1,000 years after David, from the tribe of Judah, became the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born in Bethlehem into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.
