That Day

A message the Lord God revealed

 to Isaiah the prophet:

The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap. The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid. The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.-Isaiah 17:1-3

And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean. And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim.-Isaiah 17:4-5

Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel. At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel. And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images. In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation. Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips: In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.-Isaiah 17:6-11***Isaiah was an Israelite and a prophet of the Lord God. Damascus was the principal city of Syria. King David was the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. During David's reign, Syrians (Arameans) from Damascus arrived to help the enemies attacking David and his fellow Israelites. David and his army defeated the Syrians, and established posts in Damascus, and the Syrians were forced to regularly pay sums to David. Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to reign. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. In the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible, the northern nation of Israel is sometimes identified as Ephraim. Ephraim was the 2nd son born to Joseph and Asenath, and Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel. However, Jacob proclaimed Ephraim and Ephraim's older brother Manasseh to be his own sons. The Ephraimites were a large and strong tribe in the northern nation of Israel. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Rehoboam's grandson Asa was the 3rd king to rule Judah. During Asa's reign, Asa paid Tabrimon's son Ben-hadad, ruler of Syria (Aram), to help him against the hostile activities of King Baasha, the 3rd king to rule the northern nation of Israel. Ben-hadad successfully attacked multiple cities in the northern nation. During the reign of King Ahab, the 7th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel, Ahab defeated the Syrians (Arameans) twice, according to the will of the Lord God. Afterwards, Ahab made a covenant with Ben-hadad that included Damascus. King Jehoash (Joash) was the 12th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. Jehoash's son Jeroboam, the 13th king to reign, recaptured Damascus for the Israelites. Asa's great-grandson Ahaziah was the 6th king to rule Judah. Joash (Jehoash), the son born to Ahaziah and Zibiah, was 7th king to rule Judah. During the latter end of Joash's 40-year reign, the Syrians (Arameans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem, killed Judah's idol worshiping princes, sent the dead princes' valuables to Damascus, and left Joash physically ailing. Joash's great-great-grandson Ahaz was the 11th king to rule Judah. King Pekah was the 18th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. During Ahaz's reign, Pekah killed many Israelites in Judah and took Israelites away before the Israelite captives were led back towards Judah. King Rezin and his army from Damascus killed many Israelites in Judah and took other Israelites to Damascus. Moreover, Pekah and Rezin conspired to conquer Ahaz and Jerusalem, and enemies from 2 other idol worshiping nations successfully invaded Judah. Ahaz sought help from King Tiglath-pileser, ruler of Assyria. Tiglath-pileser conquered Damascus, killed Rezin and began taking Israelites from the northern nation of Israel to Assyria. Meanwhile, Ahaz began worshiping the idols worshiped by the Syrians in Damascus. During the reign of King Hoshea, the 19th king to rule the northern nation of Israel, the Assyrians conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Isaiah began proclaiming the words of the Lord God to the Israelites during the reign of Ahaz's grandfather, King Uzziah (Azariah), the 9th king to rule Judah, and during the reign of Uzziah's son and Ahaz's father King Jotham, the 10th king to rule Judah, and during Ahaz's reign, and during the reign of Ahaz's son King Hezekiah, the 12th king to rule Judah. During the reign of Hezekiah's great-great-grandson King Jehoiakim (Eliakim), the 17th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. During the reign of Jehoiakim's son King Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the 18th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin, his wives and his mother Nehushta, to Babylon. During the reign of Jehoiakim's brother King Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the 19th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians conquered  Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah, the tribe of David, Solomon, and all of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Judah was the 4th son born to Jacob and his 1st wife Leah. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Jesus taught that the Lord God is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and Jesus taught of the prophecies Isaiah proclaimed to the Israelites. The Bottom Line

From a letter written by the apostle Paul

to believers in Rome:

Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved: For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth. And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha. What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.-Romans 9:27-33***Several years after Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and his wife Sarah (Sarai) and their nephew Lot began living in Canaan, Abraham suggested that Lot choose a different portion of the land wherein to live. Lot moved eastward, towards Sodom (Sodoma). Over 15 years after Lot moved away, the Lord God appeared to Abraham, and Abraham prepared a meal for the 3 divine visitors, including 2 angels. Abraham left with the 2 angels to send the angels towards Sodom. Upon his return, Abraham asked the Lord God questions regarding any righteous people in Sodom. After the angels took Lot, and Lot's wife and the 2 daughters out of the family's home and out of Sodom, the Lord God rained brimstone and fire out of the heavens upon Sodom, Gomorrah (Gomorrha), Admah, Zeboim, and the surrounding region. When Abraham was 100 years old,  Isaac was born to Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. When Isaac was 40 years old, he married Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. When Isaac was 60 years old, Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to Isaac and Rebekah. Decades thereafter, Jacob married Rebekah's nieces Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian. Moreover, Jacob was intimate with maidservants Bilhah and Zilpah. Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and Dinah were born to Jacob and Leah. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and Bilhah. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and Zilpah. Joseph and Benjamin were born to Jacob and Rachel. The 12 sons are the forefathers of the 12 tribes of Israel. When Jacob was 130 years old, he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt, the country wherein Joseph was second-in-command. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt and his body was buried in Canaan, and Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Aaron and his brother Moses were born into the tribe of Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, they led the Israelites away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God. In the desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai, the Israelites heard the voice of the Lord God proclaim the Ten Commandments to them, and the Lord God began giving Moses judgments, statutes and laws for the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. During the 40th year of their journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, 123-year-old Aaron died and was buried upon Mount Hor, and Moses went upon Mount Nebo. The Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Over 300 years after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin, became the 1st king to reign over the Israelites. Rehoboam, the son born to King Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to reign over all of the Israelites. Sometime thereafter, Paul (Saul) began persecuting and imprisoning any Israelite throughout Jerusalem who called upon the name of Jesus. Paul was from the tribe of Benjamin. When Paul was journeying to the synagogues in Damascus, Syria, to find, bind and take to Jerusalem any Israelite believers he found, Paul and those with him saw a light from heaven flash around them. Paul heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him, and Paul spoke to Jesus, and obeyed Jesus. In Damascus Paul was baptized. From thenceforward, Paul the apostle journeyed and wrote divinely inspired letters, teaching Israelites and Gentiles, people not born into the Israelite tribes, the good news of Jesus the Christ and everlasting life. In a letter to believers in Corinth and everywhere, Paul was divinely inspired to reveal Jesus to be the spiritual Rock from which the Israelites drank and the spiritual Rock accompanying the Israelites during their journey to the Promised Land. A Song to Sing

The song that Moses wrote down and then

 taught, with Joshua, to the Israelites before 

Moses went upon Mount Nebo, and the 

Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, 

and Moses died and was divinely buried, 

and Joshua led the Israelites across

the divinely parted Jordan River:

Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass: Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God. He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a perverse and crooked generation. Do ye thus requite the LORD, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee?-Deuteronomy 32:1-6

Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee. For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them. O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end! Yet and Still

Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, speaks to a group

of Israelites after speaking to some scribes and

Pharisees and a woman caught in the midst adultery:

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true. Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go. Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man. And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me. It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me. Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also. These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come. Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come. And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning. I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him. They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.-John 8:12-27***In the desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai, the Israelites heard the voice of the Lord God proclaim, out of the midst of the thick cloud, and thick darkness and fire, the Ten Commandments to them. The Israelites were afraid of the great fire and thought they were going to die if they continued to hear the voice of the Lord God. Thus, the Israelites told Moses to speak to them. The Lord God agreed to the request, and the Lord God began giving Moses judgments, statutes and laws for the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. The Lord God commanded that if a man was keeping an animal for someone and the animal got torn to pieces, the keeper of the animal must bring the carcass for witness and no restitution would be required. When Moses and his fellow Israelites were near the Jordan River, across from Jericho, the Lord God gave Moses the command that a murderer must be put to death only on the testimony of more than 1 witness. Before Moses went upon Mount Nebo, and the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and Moses died and was divinely buried, Moses recounted some of the history of the Israelites, life in Egypt and away from Egyptian slavery, their safety across the divinely parted Red Sea, and the 40-year journey through the desert wilderness. Moses  spoke to the Israelites of witnesses, death, iniquity, and sin. The Lord God told Moses to write down the song that the Lord God revealed to Moses and teach the song to the Israelites, that the song may be a witness for the Lord God against the Israelites. Moses and Joshua (Hoshea/Oshea), his assistant and successor, proclaimed the words of the song to the Israelites. Shortly thereafter, Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. When Joshua was elderly and preparing to die, Joshua told the Israelites to keep and do all the laws written in the Book of the Law of Moses. Joshua recounted some of the history of the Israelites, including the walk across the Jordan River and the experiences throughout Canaan, the Promised Land. Moreover, Joshua cut a covenant with the Israelites and wrote the words he spoke in the Book of the Law of God. Afterwards, Joshua took a large stone and placed it by the sanctuary of the Lord God and told the Israelites that the stone shall be for a witness to the Israelites. Over 300 years after Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, the Israelite elders demanded that Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge from the tribe of Jacob's 3rd born son Levi, the same tribe as Moses, appoint a king to govern them. The Lord God sent Samuel to anoint Saul, from the tribe of Jacob's 12th and last son Benjamin, to reign as king. Shortly thereafter, Samuel spoke to the Israelites and told them to witness against him before the Lord God. After the Israelites responded, Samuel told the Israelites that the Lord God is witness and his anointed (King Saul) is witness against them. Over 1,000 years after Samuel died and his body was buried in Ramah (Ramathaim Zophim), Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Levi. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that John the Baptist came as a witness that he might testify and witness concerning the Light, Jesus the Christ. In Jerusalem, in Judea, Jesus spoke regarding the witness of his Father, the Lord God in heaven, and the witness of John the Baptist, and the witness of the works that he did in the name of his Father, and Jesus answered a group of Pharisees.-Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
