What's for Sup

Zedekiah was one and twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. And he did that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that Jehoiakim had done. For through the anger of the LORD it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, till he had cast them out from his presence, that Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon. And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it, and built forts against it round about. So the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of king Zedekiah. And in the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month, the famine was sore in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land. Then the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled, and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king's garden; (now the Chaldeans were by the city round about:) and they went by the way of the plains. But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him. Then they took the king, and carried him up unto the king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; where he gave judgment upon him. And the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes: he slew also all the princes of Judah in Riblah. Then he put out the eyes of Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him in chains, and carried him to Babylon, and put him in prison til the day of his death.-Jeremiah 52:1-11***King Zedekiah (Mattaniah) was the son of King Josiah.  Jeremiah the prophet was the son of Hilkiah the priest. Josiah was the 15th king to rule Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land, and Zedekiah was the 19th king. From the 13th year of Josiah's reign until after Zedekiah was taken captive, Jeremiah received messages for his fellow Israelites from the Lord God. However, the Israelites did not believe the warnings Jeremiah proclaimed. During the reign of Josiah's son King Jehoiakim (Eliakim), the 17th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians invaded Judah and Jerusalem, the royal city, and began looting the temple of the Lord. During the reign of Jehoiakim's son King Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the 18th king, the Babylonians began taking Israelites, including Jehoiachin, to Babylon. Zedekiah took Jeremiah into custody, secretly questioned Jeremiah, revealed that he was afraid of some of the Israelites, and rejected Jeremiah's message to surrender to the Babylonians. During the 11th year of Zedekiah's reign, the Babylonians conquered  Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Zedekiah tried to escape with his sons and officials. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Jeremiah, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
