...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Holy Scriptures have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

The One Specific Place

From the words that Moses proclaimed to his fellow
Israelites before Moses went upon Mount Nebo, and
the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and
Moses died and was divinely buried, and Joshua,
Moses' successor, led the Israelites across the
divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land
that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham
(Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac,
and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son
Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants:

Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes. For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God giveth you. But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety; Then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and our sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the LORD: And ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates; forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you.  Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest: But in the place which the LORD shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee.-Deuteronomy 12:8-14

Notwithstanding thou mayest kill and eat flesh in all thy gates, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee: the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the roebuck, and as of the hart. Only ye shall not eat the blood; ye shall pour it upon the earth as water. Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the tithe of thy corn, or of thy wine, or of thy oil, or the firstlings of thy herds or of thy flock, nor any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy freewill offerings, or heave offerings of thine hand: But thou must eat them before the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD thy God shall choose, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates: and thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God in all that thou puttest thine hands unto. Take heed to thyself that thou forsake not the Levite as long as thou livest upon the earth.-Deuteronomy 12:15-19

When the LORD thy God shall enlarge thy border, as he hath promised thee, and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh, because thy soul longeth to eat flesh; thou mayest eat flesh, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after. If the place with the LORD thy God hath chosen to put his name there be too far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy herd and of thy flock, which the LORD hath given thee, as I have commanded thee, and thou shalt eat in thy gates whatsoever thy soul lusteth after. Even as the roebuck and the hart is eaten, so thou shalt eat them: the unclean and the clean shall eat of them alike. Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh. Thou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it upon the earth as water. Thou shalt not eat it; that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD. Only thy holy things which thou hast, and thy vows, thou shalt take, and go unto the place which the LORD shall choose: And thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of the Lord thy God: and the blood of thy sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of the LORD thy God, and thou shalt eat the flesh.-Deuteronomy 12:20-27

Observe and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doesn't that which is good and right in the sight of the LORD thy God.-Deuteronomy 12:28

Heard and Know for Ourselves

and his disciples, and a Samaritan woman,
and a group of Samaritans:

The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. Jesus saith unto her, Woman believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.-John 4:19-26

And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her? The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.-John 4:27-30

In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat. But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him aught to eat? Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.-John 4:31-38

And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days. And many more believed because of his own word; And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.-John 4:39-42

He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.-Acts 13:26

If - Then

From the laws that the Lord God
gave Moses for the Israelites:

If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel.-Deuteronomy 22:22

If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour's wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.-Deuteronomy 22:23-24

But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die: But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter: For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her.-Deuteronomy 22:25-27

If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.-Deuteronomy 22:28-29

A man shall not take his father's wife, nor discover his father's skirt.-Deuteronomy 22:30

 Background Information:
During the 40th year after Moses and his older brother Aaron led their fellow Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God, 123-year-old Aaron died and was buried upon Mount Hor. Sometime thereafter, Moses began recounting the history of the Israelites, and speaking to them about the commandments, judgments, statutes, and laws that the Lord God gave for the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, was from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), their son Isaac and his wife Rebekah, Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. After 110-year old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, the Israelites were led by elders, judges or their own minds. Meanwhile, men from the tribe of Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin raped and caused the death of a concubine. The concubine was in a relationship with a Levite, an Israelite from the tribe of Levi, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. The other Israelites vowed that they would not give their daughters in marriage to any of the men in the tribe of Benjamin, and the Israelites gathered to seek the will of the Lord God, and to battle the Israelites in the tribe of Benjamin. After the Benjamites defeated their Israelite brethren twice, the Israelites defeated and destroyed the Benjamites, except for 600 Benjamites who fled and escaped. When the Israelites realized that the 600 Benjamite survivors would need wives, the Israelites killed all of the  Israelites in Jabesh-gilead, except for 400 young virgins. Moreover, the Israelites sent the Benjamites to an area in Shiloh to capture more Israelite daughters to be their brides. Over 300 years after the Benjamites began rebuilding their cities and tribe, Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin, became the 1st king to reign over the Israelites in the Promised Land. David, from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah, was the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. During David's reign, Amnon, the son born to David and Ahinoam, raped Tamar, a virgin, the daughter of David and Maacah, a Syrian (Aramean) princess from Geshur. Over 900 years after David and Maacah's son Absalom commanded and saw the death of Amnon, and Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 13:1-14:45, 20:1-29, 26:1-27:23, Deuteronomy, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra 1:1-11, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Sounds Like a Plan

Events that occurred after King Ahasuerus (Xerxes),
ruler of the Persian Empire, banished Queen Vashti,
according to the advice of his top counselors:

After these things, when the wrath of king Ahasuerus was appeased, he remembered Vashti, and what she had done, and what was decreed against her. Then said the king's servants that ministered unto him, Let there be fair young virgins sought for the king: And let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather together all the fair young virgins unto Shushan the palace, to the house of the women, unto the custody of Hege the king's chamberlain, keeper of the women; and let their things for purification be given them: And let the maiden which pleaseth the king be queen instead of Vashti. And the thing pleased the king; and he did so.-Esther 2:1-4

Reference Scriptures:
Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat. Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.-1 Kings 1:1-2

So it came to pass, when the king's commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together unto Shushan the palace, to the custody of Hegai, that Esther was brought also unto the king's house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.-Esther 2:8...And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.-Esther 2:17

And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,-Luke 3:23...Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.-Luke 3:38

'Twere Like

Psalm 126

When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad. Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south. They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.-Psalm 126:1-6/the complete psalm

Reference Information:
sheaves = alummotaw/alummah/ealum/alam = sheaf, something bound

Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.-Psalm 53:6

When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.-Psalm 126:1

The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: he will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will discover thy sins.-Lamentations 4:22

And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,-Luke 2:23...Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.-Luke 3:38

A Certain Man

Jesus the Christ, the Son of God,
speaking to some
 chief priests, scribes and elders:

And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country. And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard. And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty. And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled. And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some. Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son. But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours. And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard. What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others. And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner: This was the Lord's doing, and it is is marvellous in our eyes? And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them:, and they left him and went their way.-Mark 12:1-12***The chief priests, scribes and elders in Jerusalem, in the temple of the Lord, were Israelites, descendants of Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). The priests were only supposed to be from the tribe of Levi, descended from Aaron, the older brother of Moses the prophet, according to the commands that the Lord God gave Moses when Moses was upon Mount Sinai with the Lord God for 40 days and nights. Moses, Aaron and their older sister Miriam the prophetess were born into the tribe of Levi over 300 years after Levi was born to Jacob and his 1st wife Leah. Over 1,400 years after Miriam died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin, and 123-year-old Aaron died and was buried upon Mount Hor, and Moses went upon Mount Nebo, and the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried, John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, were born. John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth). Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. On the 8th day after John the Baptist was born, he was circumcised, and on the 8th day after Jesus was born, Jesus was circumcised, according to the covenant of circumcision that the Lord God gave Abraham when Abraham was 99 years old. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus bean to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Meanwhile, John the Baptist was imprisoned and beheaded. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that the chief priests, scribes and elders were among those who did not believe Jesus to be the Christ of God, and knew that they had not given Jesus any authority, and wanted to seize, destroy and kill Jesus. Moreover, after Jesus prayed to his Father, the Lord God in heaven, and immediately commanded Lazarus, a dead man, to come forth, and Lazarus was alive and came forth, the chief priests began planning to kill Lazarus. The chief priests made a deal with Judas Iscariot, the disciple and apostle of Jesus, and Judas betrayed Jesus. After Jesus was arrested, the chief priests paid Judas 30 pieces of silver, and Jesus was crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven.-Genesis, Exodus, Numbers 13:1-14:45, 20:1-29, 26:1-27:23, Deuteronomy 31:1-34:12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Ezra 1:1-11, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. This is the LORD's doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.-Psalm 118:22-23

The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.-Matthew 13:1...And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;-Matthew 13:3...And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.-Matthew 13:11

Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:-Matthew 21:33...Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?-Matthew 21:42

And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.-Luke 20:8-9...And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?-Luke 20:17

Asenath's sons Manasseh and Ephraim, whom
Jacob proclaimed to be his own sons:

And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, unto the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Bethel, And goeth out from Bethel to Luz, and passeth along unto the borders of Archi to Ataroth, And goeth down westward to the coast of Japhleti, unto the coast of Beth-horon the nether, and to Gezer: and the goings out thereof are at the sea. So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.-Joshua 16:1-4

And the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families was thus: even the border of their inheritance on the east side was Ataroth-addar, unto Beth-horon; the upper; And the border went out toward the sea to Michmethah on the north side; and the border went about eastward unto Taanathshiloh, and passed by it on the east to Janohah; And it went down from Janohah to Ataroth and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and went out at Jordan. The border went out from Tappuah westward unto the river Kanah; and the goings out thereof were at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families. And the separate cities for the children of Ephraim were among the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages. And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.-Joshua 16:5-10/the complete chapter

Now Manasseh had the land of Tappuah: but Tappuah on the border of Manasseh belonged to the children of Ephraim; And the coast descended unto the river Kanah, southward of the river: these cities of Ephraim are among the cities of Manasseh: the coast of Manasseh also was on the north side of the river, and the outgoings of it were at the sea: Southward it was Ephraim's, and northward it was Manasseh's, and the sea is his border; and they met together in Asher on the north, and in Issachar on the east.-Joshua 17:8-10...And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only: But the mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.-Joshua 17:17-18

Neither did Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Bethshean and her towns, nor Taanach and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns: but the Canaanites would dwell in that land. And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out. Neither did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.-Judges 1:27-29

Alrighty, then

The death of Ahithophel

And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father.-2 Samuel 17:23***Joshua was an Israelite from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Sometime after Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, Joshua and the appointed leaders began allotting each tribe its portion of the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Giloh was in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Judah, the Israelites descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. Over 300 years after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Saul, from the tribe of Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin, became the 1st king to reign over the Israelites. At least twice, Saul did not obey the commands of the Lord God. While Saul reigned, the Lord God sent Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi, to anoint David, from the tribe of Judah, to reign as king. Sometime thereafter, David began serving as a musician and an armor-bearer for Saul. After David killed Goliath the gigantic Philistine, Saul kept David in his service full-time. Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab (Ishui), and Ishbosheth (Eshbaal) were Saul's sons, and Merab and Michal were Saul's daughters. David and Jonathan made a covenant. The Israelite women sang of David higher than they sang of Saul, and Saul was angry. Saul was afraid of David, and wanted to kill David, and appointed David captain over 1,000 troops, and sent David on missions to get killed, and commanded others, including Jonathan, to kill David. Michal became David's wife and helped David escape from their home. While David lived on the run, Saul arranged for Michal to marry Palti (Phalti/Paltiel/Phaltiel), and David became the husband of Abigail and Ahinoam. Sometime after the Philistines killed Jonathan, Malchishua and Abinadab, and Saul's self-inflicted death on the same battlefield, men from the tribe of Judah anointed 30-year-old David and he began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. Ishbosheth reigned over the other Israelite tribes. After Ishbosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders went to David and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed David, and 37-year-old David began to reign over all of the Israelites. Ahithophel was from Giloh, and was identified as a Gilonite, and served as David's counselor. While David reigned, Amnon, the son born to David and Ahinoam, raped Tamar, the daughter born to David and Maacah, a Syrian (Aramean) princess from Geshur. David and Maacah's son Absalom planned and commanded the death of Amnon. Afterwards, Absalom hurried to Geshur. During Absalom's 3rd year in Geshur, his cousin Joab, the commander of David's army, arranged for Absalom to return home. Throughout the next 2 years, David refused to see Absalom. Absalom sent for Joab twice. However, Joab did not meet with Absalom. Absalom's servants burned Joab's field, according to Absalom's command, and Joab went to Absalom. Absalom spoke to Joab, and Joab went to David, and Absalom was summoned and went to David. In Jerusalem, Absalom worked to win the Israelites to his side. Eventually, Absalom had himself proclaimed king, and Ahithophel joined Absalom. David and those loyal to David left Jerusalem. Hushai the Archite was loyal to David and was possibly from Archi, in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Ephraim. When David learned that Ahithophel was conspiring with Absalom, David prayed to the Lord God and asked the Lord God to turn Ahithophel's counsel into foolishness. David told Hushai to pretend to be loyal to Absalom, thereby allowing Hushai the opportunity to defeat Ahithophel's advice. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that when Absalom asked Ahithophel for advice, Ahithophel's suggestion involved David's concubines, and Absalom obeyed Ahithophel's instructions. Ahithophel also wanted Absalom's permission to choose 12,000 men and capture and kill David. Absalom and the elders found Ahithophel's advice agreeable. Hushai suggested a different plan when Absalom asked to hear his idea. Absalom and those with Absalom thought that Hushai's advice was better. When David spoke to Ittai the Gittite, and Joab, and Joab's brother Abishai, David told them to be gentle with Absalom and don't touch Absalom. Joab disobeyed David's command and thrust 3 weapons into Absalom's heart, and Joab's armor-bearers surrounded and attacked Absalom, and Absalom died. Over 900 years after Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites, and 70-year-old David died, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 13:1-14:45, 20:1-29, 26:1-27:23, Deuteronomy 31:1-34:12, Joshua, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Ezra 1:1-11, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
