Him, too

Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead. There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him. Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein. Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this. For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always. Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead. But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death; Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.-John 12:1-11*** Approximately 30 years after Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Levi. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Jesus revealed that those who believe Jesus to be the Christ will be hated, persecuted, arrested, flogged, or killed. Jesus taught that family members would turn against each other and people would turn kinfolk over to authorities. Jesus loved Martha, Mary and Lazarus, Israelite siblings from Bethany in Judea. Jesus loved Martha, Mary, and Lazarus. After Jesus heard that Lazarus was sick, Jesus went to Bethany with his disciples, knowing that Lazarus was dead. When Jesus arrived at the tomb, Jesus prayed to his Father, the Lord God in heaven, and Jesus spoke a command, and Lazarus came out of the tomb. Some of the Israelites who witnessed the miracle believed in Jesus, although others reported the events to the Pharisees. The chief priests, Pharisees, and Caiaphas the high priest began making plans to put Jesus to death.-Genesis 11:26-35:29, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Against Me Are Ye

King Asa

And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned Asa over Judah. And forty and one years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom. And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father. And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made. And also Maachah his mother, even her he removed from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt it by the brook Kidron. But the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa's heart was perfect with the LORD all his days
.
-1 Kings 15:9-14***Forty years after Moses and his older brother Aaron led their fellow Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God, 123-year-old Aaron died and was buried upon Mount Hor, and Moses went upon Mount Nebo. The Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, was from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, Joseph and Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. After 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, the Israelites were led by elders, judges or their own minds. Samuel was a priest,  prophet and judge from the tribe of Levi, the birth tribe of Aaron and Moses. Levi was the 3rd son born to Jacob and his 1st wife Leah. When Samuel was old, and Samuel's sons Joel (Vashni) and Abiah were wicked, and King Nahash and his fellow Ammonites were preparing to attack, the Israelites demanded that Samuel set a king to govern them. The Lord God sent Samuel to anoint Saul to reign. At least twice, Saul did not obey the commands of the Lord God. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that while Saul reigned, the Lord God sent Samuel to anoint David, from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah, to reign as king. After Saul's self-inflicted death on the battlefield, 30-year-old David began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. Saul's son Ishbosheth (Eshbaal) reigned over the other Israelite tribes. After Ishbosheth was murdered, 37-year-old David became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. During David's reign, Absalom, the son born to David and Maacah, had himself proclaimed king. Absalom was killed. Sometime thereafter, Adonijah, the son born to David and Haggith, had himself proclaimed king. Adonijah was killed. Before 70-year-old David died, he revealed that Solomon was to reign as kingSolomon was the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to reign over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. J
udah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. Idolaters and murderers always  ruled the northern nation of Israel. Judah was ruled by David's descendants, except for the 6-year reign of Athaliah. David worshiped the Lord God and was identified by the Lord God. Most of David's descendants who ruled Judah were idolaters. King Asa, the great-great-grandson of David and Bathsheba, worshiped the Lord God. Asa removed his idol worshiping paternal grandmother Maacah (Maachah) from her position as queen mother. King Pekah was the 18th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. During Pekah's reign, the Assyrians invaded the kingdom and King Tiglath-pileser, ruler of Assyria, began taking Israelites to Assyria. During the reign of King Hoshea, the 19th king to rule the northern nation, the Assyrians conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Asa's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Jehoiakim (Eliakim) was the 17th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiakim's reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. During the reign of Jehoiakim's son King Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the 18th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin, his wives and his mother Nehushta, to Babylon. During the reign of Jehoiakim's brother King Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the 19th king, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Levi. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Jesus spoke to his disciples about the divisions that would occur in households among family members.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Plain and Simple

The Words of
Jesus the Christ,
the Son of God:

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.-Matthew 10:32-42***Joshua was an Israelite from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 1st wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Over 200 years after Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, there was a famine. Elimelech, Naomi and their sons Mahlon and Chilion moved  from their home in Bethlehem, in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Judah, and settled among the Moabites. The Moabites were descendants of Abraham and Sarah's nephew Lot and Lot's oldest daughter, and the son, Moab, born to Lot and his daughter. The Israelites worshiped the Lord God. The Moabites worshiped idols. In the land of the Moabites, Elimelech died, Mahlon married Ruth and Chilion married Orpah. Ruth and Orpah were Moabite women. After Mahlon and Chilion died, and Naomi heard that the Lord God was providing for the Israelites, Naomi returned to Bethlehem with Ruth, who vowed to go wherever Naomi went, stay wherever Naomi stayed, have Naomi's people be her people, and Naomi's God as her God, and die and be buried wherever Naomi died. Ruth worked to take care of herself and Naomi, and Ruth married Boaz, Naomi's wealthy relative. Boaz was from the tribe of Judah, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. Obed was born to Boaz and Ruth. Jesse was born to Obed. David was the 8th son born to Jesse. When David was 30 years old, he began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. When David was 37 1/2 years old, he became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. Over 900 years after Solomon, the 2nd son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Before Jesus sent his 12 disciples on their 1st mission, Jesus spoke to them about the villages they were to enter, the actions they were to perform, the wisdom they were to use, and the hatred they would experience. Jesus told the disciples not to be afraid. Moreover, Jesus the Christ, the Prince of Peace, spoke to his disciples of the division he had come to bring between family members, including divisions between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.-Genesis, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings 1:1-11:43, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 7:20-29, 10:1-29:30, Isaiah 7:1-25, 9:1-21, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Heard Tell

Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem-judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons. And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehem-judah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there. And Elimelech Naomi's husband died; and she was left, and her two sons. And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years. And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband. Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread. Wherefore she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her; and they went on the way to return unto the land of Judah.-Ruth 1:1-7***During a famine in Canaan, the Promised Land, Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) journeyed with his wife Sarah (Sarai) and their nephew Lot to Egypt. After Abraham, Sarah and Lot returned to Canaan, they did not journey to any other land. When Abraham and Sarah's only child Isaac was living with his family amid a famine in Canaan, the Lord God told Isaac not to go to Egypt. The Lord God told Isaac to stay in Canaan and the Lord God told Issac he would be with Isaac and bless Isaac. Jacob (Israel) was the youngest fraternal twin son born to Isaac and his wife Rebekah. When 130-year-old Jacob was journeying from Canaan to Egypt during a famine, the Lord God told Jacob not to be afraid to go to Egypt. The Lord God said that he would make Jacob a great nation in Egypt, and would go down with Jacob to Egypt. Over 650 years after Jacob died in Egypt and his body was buried in Canaan, Elimelech and Naomi were living in Bethlehem (Ephrath) in Canaan, in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah. During a famine, Elimelech and Naomi journeyed with their sons Mahlon and Chilion to settle amid the Moabites, the descendants of Lot and Lot's oldest daughter. Elimelech died, and each son married a Moabite woman. Sometime thereafter, childless Mahlon and Chilion died. When Naomi heard that the Lord God was providing for the Israelites in her homeland, she began journeying with her daughters-in-law Orpah and Ruth towards Bethlehem. After a gentle prodding and tearful goodbye, Orpah returned to the Moabites. Ruth arrived in Bethlehem with Naomi, and married Boaz, Naomi's wealthy relative. Obed was born to Boaz and Ruth. Just Obedience

And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus said unto him, They have no wine. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. His mother said unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him. After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.-John 2:1-12***Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. After briefly staying in Egypt, Joseph, Mary and Jesus lived in Nazareth in Galilee. James, Joseph (Joses), Simon, Judas, and their sisters, whose names are not revealed in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible, also lived in the household.  Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist. The Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus, and the Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. WoW

And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him. And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own  house. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.-Mark 6:1-6***The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that over 2,000 years ago, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin. When Jesus was conceived in Mary's womb, Mary was betrothed to wed Joseph, a craftsman. After an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream and spoke of the conception to Joseph, Joseph brought Mary home as his wife. When Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph, Mary was a virgin. Sometime thereafter, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and told Joseph to take Jesus and Mary to Egypt to avoid the murderous intentions of King Herod the Great, ruler of Judea for the Roman Empire. After Herod's death, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and told Joseph to take Jesus and Mary and return to their homeland. After Joseph received a divine warning in a dream, Joseph, Mary and Jesus lived in Nazareth, in Galilee. Mary had been living in Nazareth, her hometown, when the angel Gabriel arrived and spoke of her favor with the Lord God and told Mary that Jesus was going to be conceived of the Holy Spirit in her womb. Moreover, Nazareth was Joseph's hometown. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Levi. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot, the disciple and apostle, and Jesus was arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven.-Genesis 11:26-35:29, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

How Now Shall It Come About

The angel Gabriel speaks to Mary:

And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God, And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.-Luke 1:26-38

Get to Gettin'

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born king of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.-Matthew 2:1-15***When Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) lived in southern Mesopotamia in Ur, the Lord God appeared to Abraham and told him to depart from his country and kin and come into the land he would be shown. Abraham journeyed away from Ur with his wife Sarah (Sarai)their father Terah and nephew Lot, and settled in Haran in northern Mesopotamia. After 205-year-old Terah died in Haran, Abraham, Sarah and Lot journeyed with their servants, animals and possessFadions to Canaan, a land inhabited by idol worshipers. The Lord God promised to give Canaan to Abraham's descendants and Abraham. During a famine, Abraham, Sarah and Lot briefly stayed in Egypt. Afterwards, they returned to Canaan and remained in Canaan. When Abraham was 86 years old, Ishmael was born to Abraham and Hagar, Sarah's Egyptian maidservant. When Abraham was 100 years old, Isaac was born to Abraham and Sarah. When Isaac was 40 years old, he married Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. When Isaac was 60 years old, fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to Isaac and Rebekah. Decades thereafter, Jacob married Rebekah's nieces Leah and Rachel. Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and Dinah were born to Jacob and Leah. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant. Joseph and Benjamin were born to Jacob and Rachel. There was trauma among the 12 sons, the forefathers of the 12 tribes of Israel. When Joseph was at least 17 years old, his brothers sold him to merchants traveling to Egypt and led Jacob to believe that Joseph was killed by an animal. The merchants sold Joseph to Potiphar, an Egyptian official. After Potiphar's wife made a false accusation, Potiphar put Joseph in the king's prison, and Joseph became a supervisor over the prisoners. Meanwhile, the cupbearer and baker who worked for Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, were imprisoned, and Joseph interpreted each man's dream. At least 2 years thereafter, Joseph interpreted 2 dreams for Pharaoh and Pharaoh proclaimed Joseph to be second-in-command in Egypt. Pharaoh arranged a marriage between Joseph and Asenath, the daughter of an Egyptian priest, and their sons Manasseh and Ephraim were born. During a famine, Jacob kept Benjamin home and sent his other sons to Egypt to buy food. Joseph recognized and questioned his brothers without his brothers recognizing him. Joseph imprisoned Simeon after demanding that his brothers bring Benjamin from Canaan to Egypt. As the famine continued, Jacob sent Benjamin and his other sons to Egypt to buy more grain. Joseph revealed his identity to his brothers and told them to move with Jacob and their families to Egypt. Pharaoh gave a similar command, and 130-year-old Jacob and his family moved to Egypt. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt and his body was buried in Canaan, and Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Aaron and his brother Moses were from the tribe of Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, the Lord God sent them to speak to Pharaoh and the Israelite elders. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness. During the 40th year of their journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Aaron died and was buried upon Mount Hor, and Moses went upon Mount NeboThe Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, was from the tribe of Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. When Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge was old, and Samuel's sons Joel (Vashni) and Abiah were misbehaving, and King Nahash and his fellow Ammonites were preparing to attack, the Israelites demanded that Samuel establish a king to lead them. The Lord God told Samuel to anoint Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin, to reign. Saul did not obey the commands of the Lord God. While Saul was reigning, the Lord God sent Samuel to anoint David, from the tribe of Judah, to reign as king. After Saul's self-inflicted  death on the battlefield, 30-year-old David began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. Saul's son Ishbosheth (Eshbaal) reigned over the other Israelite tribes. After Ishbosheth was murdered, 37 1/2-year-old David became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. Solomon, the 2nd son born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites. Solomon married an Egyptian princess, built her a palace, stayed married to 700 idol worshiping princesses and was intimately involved with 300 concubines. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam was the 1st king to reign. Israelites in both kingdoms were involved in various alliances with the Egyptians. Sometimes Israelites fled to Egypt, disobeying the commands of the Lord God to depend upon the Lord God for help. Less than 200 years after Jeroboam's son Nadab became the 2nd king to rule the northern nation of Israel, the Assyrians invaded the kingdom and conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. During the reign of King Hoshea, the 19th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel, the Assyrians invaded and conquered the kingdom, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Less than 140 years after Samaria was conquered, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. A group of Israelites who survived the Babylonian attack were determined to flee to Egypt. Jeremiah the prophet proclaimed the words of the Lord God to them, revealing that the Lord God wanted the survivors to remain in Judah under the authority of the Babylonians. Despite the warnings of death and captivity spoken by Jeremiah, the group went to Egypt and took Jeremiah with them. The Roman Empire was ruling the land whereupon the kingdoms of the Israelites previously stood, and King Herod the Great was ruling Judea. When wise men, Magi, from the east arrived in Jerusalem to worship Jesus the Christ, Herod questioned the Israelite chief priests and scholars. The chief priests and scholars answered Herod with the words of a prophecy spoken by Micah the prophet over 675 years earlier. Herod questioned the wise men and told them to go to Bethlehem and return to Jerusalem. However, after the wise men worshiped Jesus, they returned to the east.
