...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Holy Scriptures have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

A Certain Someone

The interaction between Apollos,
Aquila and Priscilla, years after
buried in a tomb,resurrected,
seen by over 500 people,
and returned to heaven:

And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly. And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace: For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.-Acts 18:24-28

Reference Scriptures:
John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.-Mark 1:4...I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.-Mark 1:8

And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not; John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:-Luke 3:15-16...And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,-Luke 3:23...Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.-Luke 3:38

The Lord Knows

From a letter written by the apostle Paul,
with Sosthenes,
to believers in Corinth and everywhere:

Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.-1 Corinthians 3:16-23***The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that the Lord God is the Creator of the heavens and earth. The Lord God created Adam, the 1st man. The Lord God formed Adam from the dust of the ground, and the Lord God made Adam's wife Eve, the mother of all living, after taking a part out of Adam. The Spirit of God is the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost). Jesus the Christ, is the Son of God. Jesus is the Word. The Word was with the Lord God in the beginning. The universe was formed by the word of God. Joseph and Mary were Israelites descended from Adam and Eve, their son Seth, Seth's great-great-great-grandson Enoch, Enoch's great-grandson Noah the ark builder, Noah's son Shem, Shem's son Arphaxad, Arphaxad's great-great-great-great-great-grandson Terah,  Terah's children Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), their son Isaac and his wife Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). Approximately 30 years after Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb when Mary was a virgin, and born into the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Jacobs's 3rd born son Levi. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men, including Simon Peter (Cephas), to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot, the disciple and apostle, and Jesus was arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, and returned to heaven. Paul (Saul) was an Israelite from the tribe of Jacob's 12th and last son Benjamin. Throughout Jerusalem, Paul persecuted and imprisoned Israelites who believed Jesus to be the Christ. When Paul was journeying to the synagogues in Damascus, Syria, to find, bind and take to Jerusalem any Israelite believers he found, Paul and those with him saw a light from heaven flash around them. Paul heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him, and Paul spoke to Jesus, and obeyed Jesus. In Damascus Paul was baptized. From thenceforward, Paul the apostle journeyed and wrote divinely inspired letters, teaching Israelites and Gentiles, people not born into the Israelite tribes, the good news of Jesus the Christ and everlasting life. Apollos was an Israelite from Alexandria, Egypt, and used the Scriptures to prove the identity of Jesus the Christ. Sosthenes was a fellow believer.-Genesis 1:1-35:29, 1 Chronicles 1:1-2:17, 3:1-24, 8:1-40, 9:35-44, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, 1 Corinthians, Ephesians 4:1-32, Hebrews 11:1-40, 1 John

Reference Scriptures:
He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.-Job 5:13

The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.-Psalm 94:11

Do the Do's, Don't the Don'ts and Be the Be's

From the commandments, judgments, statutes,
and laws that the Lord God gave Moses in the
desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount
Sinai, for the Israelites, the descendants of
Abraham (Abram the Hebrewand Sarah (Sarai),
Isaac and Rebekah,  and Isaac and Rebekah's
youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel):

Leviticus Chapter 18

1.And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2.Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the LORD your God.
3.After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.
4.Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the LORD your God.
5. Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD.

6.None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am the LORD.

7.The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

8.The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father's nakedness.

9.The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, whether she be born at home, or born abroad, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover.

10.The nakedness of thy son's daughter, or of thy daughter's daughter, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover: for theirs is thine own nakedness.

11.The nakedness of thy father's wife's daughter, begotten of thy father, she is thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

12.Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's sister: she is thy father's near kinswoman.

13.Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother's sister: for she is thy mother's near kinswoman.

14.Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's brother, thou shalt not approach to his wife: she is thine aunt.

15.Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter in law: she is thy son's wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

16.Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother's wife: it is thy brother's nakedness.

17.Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, neither shalt thou take her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness; for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness.

18.Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her life time.

19.Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness.

20.Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour's wife, to defile thyself with her.

21.And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.

22.Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

23.Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.

24.Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:
25.And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.
26.Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you:
27.(For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;)
28.That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.
29.For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people. 30.Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God.

Reference Scripture:
And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi. And the woman conceived and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.-Exodus 2:1-2...And the child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son, And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.-Exodus 2:10

And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,-Luke 3:23...Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.-Luke 3:38

Know What

Jesus the Christ, the Son of God,
and Martha, Lazarus, Mary, the Pharisees, and Caiaphas:

Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him. But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done. Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles. If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation. And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad. Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death. Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples
.-John 11:39-54***
When Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and his wife Sarah (Sarai) and their nephew Lot began living in Canaan, idol worshipers lived throughout the land. The Lord God promised to give Canaan to Abraham and his descendants. Decades after Abraham and Sarah's son Isaac was born, the Lord God promised to give Canaan to Isaac and his descendants. Decades after Isaac and Rebekah's fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born, the Lord God promised to give Canaan to Jacob and his descendants. Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel. When Jacob was 130 years old, he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt, the country wherein Joseph was second-in-command. Sometime after 147-year old Jacob died in Egypt and his family buried his body in Canaan, and 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were Israelites from the tribe of Levi, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, the Lord God sent them to speak to the Israelite elders and Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur. The Lord God revealed to Moses, and Moses revealed to the Israelites, that the idol worshipers in Canaan performed multiple abominations and the idol worshipers and land were defiled. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron died and was buried. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor from the tribe of Ephraim, led the Israelites  across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land. During the years after 110-year-old Joshua died, and the elders of Joshua's generation were dead, the Israelites lived under the leadership of elders, judges, or their own minds. Samuel the  priest, prophet and judge was from the tribe of Levi. When Samuel was old, and his sons Joel (Vashni) and Abiah were not obeying the commands of the Lord God, and King Nahash and his Ammonite army were preparing to attack, the Israelite elders demanded that Samuel appoint a king to lead them. The Lord God sent Samuel to anoint Saul to reign as king. Saul was from the tribe of Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. David, from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah, was the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to reign. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to reign over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city, and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city, and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. Less than 200 years after Jeroboam's son Nadab became the 2nd king to rule the northern nation of Israel, the Assyrians invaded the kingdom and conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Less than 140 years after Samaria was conquered, Rehoboam's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Zedekiah (Marttaniah) became the 19th king to rule Judah. During the 11th year of Zedekiah's reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born in Bethlehem, almost 6 miles from Jerusalem, into the tribe of Judah, the tribe of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Levi. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Before Jesus was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people and returned to heaven less than 3 1/2 years after he was baptized, Jesus commanded Lazarus, and a widow's  son, and the daughter of Jairus back to back to life. Meanwhile, the Roman Empire was ruling the land whereupon the kingdoms of the Israelites previously stood.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Leviticus 18:1-30, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 18:1-22, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Saying Nothing

Psalm 39

I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me. I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred. My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue, LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is: that I may know how frail I am. Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best is altogether vanity. Selah. Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them. And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee. Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish. I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst it. Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the  blow of thine hand. When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah. Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were. O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more.-Psalm 39:1-13/the complete psalm

Yikes

From the first of three times that Eliphaz spoke while
visiting Job, when Job was in the midst of suffering:

Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received a little thereof. In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men, Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake. Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up: It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying, Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker? Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly: How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth? They are destroyed from morning to evening: they perish for ever without any regarding it. Doth not their excellency which is in them go away? they die, even without wisdom.-Job 4:12-21***Job worshiped the Lord God. Before and after the sudden deaths of Job's 10 children, and the slaughter and fiery deaths of Job's servants, and the theft and fiery deaths of Job's animals, and the ailing condition of Job's body, Job was faithful to the Lord God. The words spoken by Job, and the words spoken by Job's friends Eliphaz, Bildad and Zophar, and the words spoken by nearby listener Elihu, and the words that the Lord God spoke to Job are revealed in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible.  Eliphaz was a Temanite. Teman was a major city in Edom. Some Temanites were descendants of Esau (Edom). Esau was the older fraternal twin brother of Jacob (Israel). Esau and Jacob were the only children born to Isaac and Rebekah. Isaac was the only child born to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai). Abraham and Sarah were born to Terah. Terah was the great-great-great-great-great-grandson of Arphaxad. Arphaxad was born to Shem. Shem was born to Noah the ark builder. Noah was the great-grandson of Enoch. Enoch was the great-great-great-grandson of Seth. Seth was born to Adam, the 1st man, and his wife Eve, the mother of all living. The Lord God created Adam. The Lord God formed Adam from the dust of the ground, and the Lord God made Eve after taking a part out of Adam.  Centuries after Job responded to the Lord God, and the Lord God gave Eliphaz a command, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-36:43, 1 Chronicles 1:1-2:17, 3:1-24, Job, Jeremiah 49:1-39, Ezekiel 25:13, Amos 1:1-15, Obadiah, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, James 5:1-20

Reference Scriptures:
Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight. How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?-Job 15:15-16

They're Going to Get It

From a letter written by Simon Peter,
the disciple and apostle, years after
was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb,
resurrected, seen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven:

The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord. But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption; And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.-2 Peter 2:9-16

Reference Scriptures:
And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab. And God's anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.-Numbers 22:21-22...
And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam's anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff. And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?-Numbers 22:27-28

Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.-Psalm 103:20

And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. And the LORD said unto Satan, the LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem  rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?-Zechariah 3:1-2

Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.-Jude 1:9

I Tried to Tell You

And the LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Go again unto Balak, and say thus. And when he came to him, behold, he stood by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said unto him, What hath the LORD spoken? And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor: God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it. He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them. God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn. Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought! Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain. And Balak said unto Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all. But Balaam answered and said unto Balak, Told not I thee, saying, All that the LORD speaketh, that I must do?-Numbers 23:16-26***When Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) was in the midst of great darkness and a deep sleep, the Lord God told Abraham that Abraham's descendants would be afflicted in a land 400 years, and the Lord God would bring judgment on the land, and Abraham's descendants would come out of the land with a vast amount of valuable goods. When Abraham was 100 years old, Isaac was born to Abraham and his 90-year-old wife Sarah (Sarai). When Isaac was 40 years old, he was married to Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. In the 20th year of the marriage, Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to Isaac and Rebekah. Rebekah's nieces Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean), became Jacob's wives. Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and daughter Dinah were born to Jacob and Leah. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant. Joseph and Benjamin were born to Jacob and Rachel. When Jacob was 130 years old, he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt, the country wherein Joseph became second-in-command after being sold by his brothers to merchants traveling to Egypt, and being brought by Potiphar, and imprisoned after a false accusation, and being known as an interpreter of dreams. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt and his family buried his body in Canaan, and 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, Generations their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were born into the tribe of Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, the Lord God sent them to speak to the Israelite elders and to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God. The Israelites praised the Lord God, grumbled multiple times, witnessed multiple miracles, defeated the Amalekites, and heard the voice of the Lord God proclaim the Ten Commandments. The Lord God gave Moses judgments, statutes and laws for the Israelites, and the Israelites built the tabernacle and sacred items that the Lord God described and showed to Moses were to be made. The Israelites worshiped a golden calf, were frightened after hearing of gigantic inhabitants in Canaan, the Promised Land, spoke of returning to Egypt, mourned the death of Miriam, mourned Aaron's death, fought Canaanite King Arad and his people twice, defeated Amorite King Sihon and his people, took over the land of other Amorite inhabitants, and annihilated Amorite King Og and his kingdom. When Moabite King Balak knew that the Israelites were in his midst, he convinced the Midianites to unite with him and send an envoy to Balaam and have Balaam come to them and curse the Israelites. The Moabites were descendants of Abraham and Sarah's nephew Lot and Lot's oldest daughter. The Midianites descended from Abraham and Keturah, his 2nd wife. Balaam told the messengers to spend the night and that whatever he heard from the Lord God he would tell them. After the Lord God told Balaam not to go with the messengers and not to curse the blessed Israelites, Balaam sent the messengers away. Balak sent a more esteemed envoy to Balaam. Balaam gave the new messengers a reply and told them to spend the night. The Lord God spoke to Balaam and gave Balaam specific instructions. Balaam disobeyed the words of the Lord God, and as Balaam was traveling with his own servants and the envoy, an incident occurred that involved the angel of the Lord God, and Balaam's donkey and Balaam. Sometime thereafter, 120-year-old Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Over 1,300 years after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Levi. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was was betrayed by Judas Iscariot, the disciple and apostle, and Jesus was arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven. The disciple and apostle Simon Peter wrote a divinely inspired letter that revealed a message about Balaam.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 11:1-14:45, 20:1-25:18, 27:12-23, 31:1-54, Deuteronomy 23:1-25, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 2 Peter
