Just Obedience

And the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, journeyed from Kadesh, and came unto mount Hor. And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, by the coast of the land of Edom, saying, Aaron shall be gathered unto his people: for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah. Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up unto mount Hor. And strip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son: and Aaron shall be gathered unto his people, and shall die there. And Moses did as the LORD commanded: and they went up into mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation. And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son; and Aaron died there in the top of the mount: and Moses and Eleazar came down fom the mount. And when all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they mourned for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.-Numbers 20:22-29***Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were Israelites from the tribe of Levi, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. When the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt, the Lord God sent 80-year-old Moses and 83-year-old Aaron to speak to the Israelite elders and to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur. In the desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai, the Israelites heard the voice of the Lord God proclaim the Ten Commandments to them. Immediately thereafter, the Lord God began giving Moses judgments, statutes and laws for the Israelites. When Moses was upon Mount Sinai with the Lord God for 40 days and nights, the Lord God told Moses that only Aaron and Aaron's sons and the sons born to their descendants were to serve the Lord God as priests. Aaron was the 1st high priest, and none of his descendants with any of the physical traits that the Lord God described to Moses could be anointed to serve as high priest. The high priest was required to wear specific garments and sacred items and could only marry a specifically qualified woman. The high priest could not exhibit outward signs of mourning or be under the same roof as a dead body. On the 10th day of the 7th month of each year of the Hebrew calendar, the high priest was to follow the directions the Lord God gave regarding the Day of Atonement.  During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. At Mount Hor, the Lord God told Moses to go upon the mountain with Aaron and Eleazar, 1 of Aaron's 2 surviving sons. Upon Mount Hor, due to the actions that occurred at the Meribah waters in Kadesh, 123-year-old Aaron died and was buried. Eleazar began serving as the high priest. Sometime thereafter, Moses went upon Mount Nebo, and the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, was from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Over 1,400 years after Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants,  Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.
