...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Romans 15:4 (KJV) reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

FYI - For Your Information

From a letter written by the apostle Paul ,
with Sosthenes,
to believers in Corinth and everywhere:

Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body. All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.-1 Corinthians 15:33-49***Elijah the prophet, and his successor Elisha the prophet, and King Ahab  were Israelites, descendants of Adam and Eve, their son Seth, Seth's great-great-great-grandson Enoch, Enoch's great-grandson Noah the ark builder, Noah's son Shem, Shem's son Arphaxad, Arphaxad's great-great-great-great-great-grandson Terah, Terah's children Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), their son Isaac and his wife Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). Adam was the 1st man. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that the Lord God created Adam. The Lord God formed Adam from the dust of the ground, and the Lord God made Adam's wife Eve, the mother of all living, after taking a part out of Adam. Ahab was the 7th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. During Ahab's 22-year reign, Elijah proclaimed the words of the Lord God. Moreover, the dead son of a widow in Zarephath, in Phoenicia, was resurrected after Elijah prayed to the Lord God. When Elisha and Elijah were at the Jordan River, Elisha saw Elijah go up into heaven by a whirlwind. Sometime thereafter, a wife and husband in Shunem, in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Jacob's 9th born son  Issachar, prepared a place at their home for Elisha. When Elisha learned that the wife and her elderly husband did not have a child, Elisha proclaimed to the wife that she would embrace a son, and a son was born to the husband and wife. Years afterwards, the son died and his mother went to Elisha. Elisha went to the family's home, closed the bedroom door, prayed to the Lord God, stretched out upon the son, and the son's flesh became warm. Elisha walked up and down, stretched out upon the son, and the son began sneezing and opening his eyes. Jehoash (Joash), the son born to King Jehoahaz, was the 12th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. Elisha most likely died and was buried during Jehoash's  16-year reign, and a dead man began living against after contact with Elisha's bonesOver 700 years after Jehoash's son Jeroboam became the 13th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel, John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, were born. John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Jacob's 3rd born son Levi to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth). Jesus the Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world, and testified that Jesus is the Son of God. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men, including Simon Peterto follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites. In Nain, Gailee, Jesus touched the coffin that held the body of a widow's dead son. Jesus commanded the widow's dead son to arise and the widow's son began living, and was immediately sitting and speaking. In the home of Jairus, a synagogue ruler in Galilee, Jesus touched the hand of Jairus' dead daughter and commanded the girl to arise, and the 12-year-old girl began standing and walking. In Bethany, Judea, Jesus went with others to the tomb wherein the dead body of Lazarus was placed. After the stone was removed from the tomb's entrance, Jesus spoke to his Father, the Lord God in heaven, and Jesus commanded Lazarus to come forth, and Lazarus was alive and began coming out of the tomb. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot the disciple and apostle, and Jesus was arrested, and crucified, and buried in a tomb. When Jesus was resurrected on the 3rd day after he was crucified, some dead saints came out of their burial places and were walking within Jerusalem. Afterwards, Jesus was seen by over 500 people, and on the 40th day after Jesus was resurrected, Jesus was returned to heaven. Notably, the Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Jesus, the Word, the last Adam, the 2nd man, came from heaven and was with his Father the Lord God in the beginningSimon Peter was 1 of the 3 disciples and apostles most constantly with Jesus. In Joppa, Simon Peter went to the home of Tabitha (Dorcas), a believer and disciple who had recently died. When Simon Peter was alone in the room with Tabitha's body, Simon Peter knelt and prayed and commanded Tabitha to arise. Tabitha began living, opening her eyes and sitting. Paul (Saul) was an Israelite from the tribe of Jacob's 12th and last son Benjamin. Paul did not believe Jesus to be the Christ. Throughout Jerusalem, Paul persecuted and imprisoned  Israelites who believed Jesus to be the Christ of God. When Paul was journeying to the synagogues in Damascus, Syria, to find, bind and take to Jerusalem any Israelite believers he found, Paul and those with him saw a light from heaven flash around them. Paul heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him, and Paul spoke to Jesus and obeyed Jesus. In Damascus Paul was baptized. From thenceforward, Paul the apostle journeyed and wrote divinely inspired letters, teaching Israelites and Gentiles, people not born into the Israelite tribes, the good news of Jesus the Christ and everlasting life. In Troas, in Asia Minor (Turkey), Eutychus, a young sleeping man, fell and died while Paul was preaching. Shortly after Paul fell upon and embraced Eutychus, Eutychus was alive.-Genesis, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings 1:1-13:25, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon

Called - Chosen

Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.-1 Corinthians 1:1-9***The Lord God chose Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and told Abraham to go out from his country and kin and come into the land he would be shown. Abraham journeyed away from Ur with his wife Sarah (Sarai), their father Terah and nephew Lot, and began living in Haran, in northern Mesopotamia. Sometime after 205-year-old Terah died and was buried in Haran, Abraham, Sarah and Lot journeyed with their servants and possessions to Canaan, a land inhabited by idolaters. The Lord God promised to give Canaan to Abraham's descendants and childless Abraham. Ishmael was born to 86-year-old Abraham and Hagar, Sarah's maidservant. Isaac was born to 100-year-old Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. When Isaac was 40 years old, he was married to Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. Fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to 60-year-old Isaac and Rebekah. In Padan Aram, Haran, Jacob was married to Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean). Levi was the 3rd son born to Jacob and Leah, and Judah was Jacob and Leah's 4th born son. Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob and Rachel. During Jacob's 20th year in Haran, he began journeying home to Canaan with his family, servants, animals, and possessions. Near Bethlehem, Benjamin was born to Jacob and Rachel, and Rachel died. The Lord God chose Joseph to be sold by his brothers to merchants traveling to Egypt, and sold to Potiphar, an Egyptian official, and be imprisoned, and become  second-in-command in Egypt. After experiencing famine in Canaan, and learning of a reunion with Joseph, and receiving a request from Joseph, and the generosity and hospitality of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, 130-year-old Jacob moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt. In Egypt, Jacob proclaimed Manasseh and Ephraim, the sons born to Joseph and his wife Asenath, to be his own sons. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt and Jacob's family buried his body in Canaan, and 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. The Lord God chose Moses and Moses' older brother Aaron to speak to the Israelite elders and Pharaoh and lead the Israelites away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, into the desert wilderness of Shur, and through a 40-year journey to the Promised Land. The Lord God chose Aaron and Aaron's sons and the sons born to their descendants to serve the Lord God as priests. The Lord God chose the Levites, the other men in the tribe of Levi, the birth tribe of Aaron and Moses, to serve at the tabernacle as assistants to the priests. The Lord God chose Joshua, Moses' aide, to be Moses' successor and lead the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. The Lord God chose Othniel, Ehud, Shamgar, Deborah, Gideon (Jerubbaal), Tola, Jair, Jephthah, Ibzan, Elon, Abdon,  Samson, and Samuel to serve as judges and lead the Israelites. The Lord God chose Saul to reign as the 1st king over the Israelites in the Promised Land, and the Lord God chose David to rule as the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites, and the Lord God chose Solomon, a son born to David and Bathsheba, to reign as the 3rd king and build the temple of the Lord God that David wanted to build. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to rule over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation and Samaria was the final royal city. The Lord God chose Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, to rule over the northern nation of Israel. King Hoshea was the 19th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. The Lord God chose the Assyrians to invade the northern nation of Israel and conquer Samaria. Less than 140 years after Samaria was conquered, Rehoboam's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Zedekiah (Mattaniah) became the 19th king to rule Judah. The Lord God chose the Babylonians (Chaldeans) to invade Judah and conquer Jerusalem. Both kingdoms were conquered, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. The Lord God chose elderly Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his elderly wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth) to be the parents of John the Baptist,  the messenger born to prepare people for Jesus the Christ, the Son of God. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that the angel Gabriel appeared to Zechariah and told him that a son would be born to Zechariah and Elizabeth, and Zechariah was to name the child John. The Lord God chose Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin, to be the mother of Jesus the Christ. During the 6th month that Elizabeth was carrying John the Baptist in her womb, the Lord God sent the angel Gabriel to Mary, and the angel Gabriel explained that Mary would give birth to a Son, and Mary was to name the Son Jesus, and Jesus, the Son of the Highest (the Most High) would be conceived of the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb. The Lord God chose  Joseph, a craftsman, to be the future husband of Mary. After Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb when Mary was a virgin, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph when Joseph was asleep and dreaming, and told Joseph not to be afraid to receive Mary as his wife, and explained that the child in Mary's womb was conceived of the Holy Spirit, and Joseph was to name the Son Jesus. Months after John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi to Zechariah and Elizabeth, Jesus, the Christ, was born in Bethlehem into the tribe of Judah, the tribe of David and his descendants, all of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Jesus chose 12 of his disciples, named them apostles, and sent them on a mission only among the Israelites. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed by the disciple and apostle Judas Iscariot, and Jesus was arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, and returned to heaven. Paul (Saul) was an Israelite and a Pharisee from the tribe of Benjamin and did not believe Jesus to be the Christ. Get to Gettin'

The apostle Paul
in Corinth and Ephesus

And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat, Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law. And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you: But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters. And he drave them from the judgment seat. Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things. And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him,
Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow. And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews. When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not; But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus
.-Acts 18:12-21***Paul (Saul) and Aquila were Israelites (Hebrews/Jews), descendants of Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). Paul was born into the tribe of Benjamin, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel and their 2nd and last son Benjamin. Aquila's birth tribe and the genealogy of Aquila's wife Priscilla (Prisca) are not revealed in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible, although Priscilla was possibly an Israelite. Sometime after Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, and returned to heaven, Paul began persecuting and imprisoning Israelites throughout Jerusalem who believed Jesus to be the Christ. From thenceforward, Paul the apostle journeyed and taught the good news of Jesus the Christ and everlasting life. In Corinth, in ancient Greece, Paul met, lived and worked with Aquila and Priscilla. After many Israelites in Corinth vocally rejected the gospel Paul declared that he would proclaim the good news of Jesus the Christ to Gentiles, people not born into the Israelite tribes.  The ruler of the synagogue, however, and those in the synagogue ruler's household, and several others in Corinth believed in the Lord Jesus and were baptized. The Lord Jesus spoke to Paul in a vision and gave Paul a message of assurance. Shortly thereafter,  the Israelites who did not believe Jesus to be the Christ of God  banded together and brought Paul before Gallio, the deputy in charge of the region for the Roman Empire, the rulers of the land. When Gallio refused to listen to the complainants, the ejected crowd beat Sosthenes, the reigning synagogue ruler. Eventually, Paul, Aquila and Priscilla left Corinth and were in EphesusNotably, Paul identified Aquila and Priscilla as fellow workers in Christ Jesus, and a group of believers regularly congregated in Aquila and Priscilla's home.-Genesis 11:26-35:29, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 21-17, 3:1-24, 8:1-40, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 6:1-8:4, 9:1-31, 11:19-28:31, Romans 16:1-5, 1 Corinthians 16:13-24, Ephesians, 2 Timothy 4:19-22
