Just Obedience

A prophet and King Ahab:

And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said unto his neighbour in the word of the LORD, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man refused to smite him. Then said he unto him, Because thou hast not obeyed the voice of the LORD, behold, as soon as thou art departed from me, a lion shall slay thee. And as soon as he was departed from him, a lion found him, and slew him. Then he found another man, and said, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man smote him, so that in smiting he wounded him. So the prophet departed, and waited for the king by the way, and disguised himself with ashes upon his face. And as the king passed by, he cried unto the king: and he said, Thy servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man unto me, and said, Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then shall thy life be for his life, or else thou shalt pay a talent of silver. And as thy servant was busy here and there, he was gone. And the king of Israel said unto him, So shall thy judgment be; thyself hast decided it. And he hasted, and took the ashes away from his face; and the king of Israel discerned him that he was of the prophets. And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Because thou hast let go out of thy hand a man whom I appointed to utter destruction, therefore thy life shall go for his life, and thy people for his people. And the king of Israel went to his house heavy and displeased, and came to Samaria.-1 Kings 20:35-43***King Ahab was an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel).  Ahab was the 7th king to reign over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. King Benhadad was the ruler of Syria (Aram). During Ahab's reign, Benhadad sent an envoy to Ahab in Samaria, the royal city, and declared that the silver, gold, wives, and children of Ahab were to be Benhadad's. Ahab agreed. Afterwards, Benhadad sent an envoy to Ahab and declared that the Syrians would come and take everything they wanted to take. Ahab spoke to the Israelite elders, received their advice, and gave the Syrians a message for Benhadad. Benhadad made a vow, Ahab gave another message for Benhadad, and Benhadad and the 32 kings with Benhadad prepared to battle the Israelites. A prophet of the Lord God spoke a guarantee of victory to Ahab, an idol worshiper, and told Ahab the reason for the upcoming victory. Thus, Ahab and the Israelites defeated Benhadad and the Syrians. Moreover, the prophet of the Lord God told Ahab specific actions to take and revealed that the Syrians would return. Meanwhile, the Syrians spoke to Benhadad regarding the victory of the Israelites and gave Benhadad a plan to defeat the Israelites. One year later, before the expected battle began, a prophet of the Lord God told Ahab that Ahab would be victorious. The prophet told Ahab the reason for the victory, and the Israelites defeated the Syrians again. Benhadad and those with him escaped, although 27,000 on Benhadad's side experienced a deadly calamity. Benhadad listened to the advice of those with him and went with them to the presence of Ahab. Benhadad's group spoke to Ahab, and Ahab spoke to the group. Ahab allowed Benhadad to sit in the chariot with him, and Benhadad and Ahab entered into a covenant. Over 800 years after Ahaziah, the son born to Ahab and Ahab's wife Jezebel, an idol worshiping Zidonian (Sidonian) princess, became the 8th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born in Bethlehem, nearly 40 miles from Samaria, into the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Jacob's 3rd born son Levi. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.-Matthew 23:37-39***Before Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was betrayed by Judas Iscariot, the disciple and apostle, and was  arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven, Jesus spoke while in the presence of his disciples and other Israelites, including perhaps scribes and Pharisees, of his Father the Lord God in heaven, and the kingdom of heaven, and Jerusalem, and the prophets of the Lord God. Jesus lived among the Israelites for less than 33 1/2 years after he was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. The Roman Empire was ruling Jerusalem, and the surrounding regions, provinces, and other land before and after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary in Bethlehem, approximately 6 miles from Jerusalem. However, the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that for over 800 years, Jerusalem and the rest of the Promised Land was ruled by Israelites, the descendants of Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). Rehoboam,  the son born to King Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city, and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city, and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. Less than 200 years after Jeroboam's son Nadab became the 2nd king to rule the northern nation of Israel, the Assyrians invaded the kingdom and conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites.  Rehoboam's great-great-great-great-grandson Jehoash (Joash) was the 7th king to rule Judah. Zechariah was the son born to Jehoiada the  priest and Jehosheba (Jehoshabeath), a princess. Zechariah  proclaimed the words of the Lord God to the Israelites in Jerusalem, and Joash was responsible for Zechariah being stoned to death in Jerusalem, on the grounds of the temple of the Lord. Joash's great-great-great-great-grandson Manasseh was the 13th king to rule Judah. The Lord God revealed to his prophets that Manasseh was responsible for innocent blood being shed and filling Jerusalem, and the Lord God would not forgive. Manasseh's great-grandson Jehoiakim (Eliakim) was the 17th king to rule Judah. Jehoiakim was responsible for the death, probably in Jerusalem, of Urijah the prophet. Moreover, during Jehoiakim's 11-year reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the son born to Jehoiakim and Nehushta, was the 18th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiachin's 3-month reign, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin, his wives and mother, to Babylon. During the 11th year of the reign of Jehoiakim's brother King Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the 19th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Psalm 61

Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah. Sounds Like a Plan

The apostle Paul, and those with him,

arrive at Jerusalem:

And after those days, we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem. There went with us also certain of the disciples of Caesarea, and brought with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple with whom we should lodge. And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly. And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed,  arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, and returned to heaven. Paul did not believe Jesus to be the Christ. Throughout Jerusalem, Paul persecuted and imprisoned Israelites who believed Jesus to be the Christ of God. When Paul was journeying to the synagogues in Damascus, Syria, to find, bind and take to Jerusalem any Israelite believers he found, Paul and those with him saw a light from heaven flash around them. Paul heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him, and Paul spoke to Jesus, and obeyed Jesus. In Damascus Paul was baptized. Jesus told Ananias the disciple that Paul was to carry the name of Jesus to Israelites and Gentiles, people not born into the Israelite tribes. When Paul was in the temple in Jerusalem, Jesus spoke to Paul of Paul's divine purpose involving Gentiles. When Paul's fellow Israelite believers learned of the growing number of Gentile believers, the Israelite believers gathered together and listened to Simon Peter, 1 of the 3 disciples and apostles who had been most constantly with Jesus. The Israelites listened to Paul, Barnabas and James. Afterwards, as led by the Holy Spirit, the Israelites agreed to actions that were later restated when Paul was in Jerusalem. Over 1,500 years earlier, Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were born in Egypt into the tribe of Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, they led the Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur,  according to the commands of the Lord God. After Joshua successfully led his fellow Israelites

 across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto

the Promised Land, the Lord God spoke to Joshua:

And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over Jordan, that the LORD spake unto Joshua, saying, Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man, And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night. Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man: And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of Jordan, and take ye up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel: That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones? Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him. But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours. So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them? He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid. And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.-Luke 20:9-19***When Jacob (Israel) was journeying alone to Padan Aram, Haran, in northern Mesopotamia, and was still in Canaan after acting deceitfully against his older fraternal twin brother Esau (Edom) and their father Isaac, Jacob used a stone on the ground for a pillow. After the Lord God appeared to Jacob and spoke to Jacob when Jacob was sleeping and dreaming, Jacob vowed a vow that involved the stone and the house of God. Jacob proclaimed the place of his divine experience to be Bethel. When Jacob was returning to Canaan at least 20 years later with his wives Leah and Rachel, and maidservants Bilhah and Zilpah, and the daughter and 11 sons born from the relationships, Jacob saw and heard the Lord God in Bethel, and Jacob specifically set a stone in place. Over 375 years after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt and his body was buried in Canaan, Joshua was born in Egypt into the tribe of Ephraim. Ephraim was the 2nd son born to Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob and Rachel. However, Jacob proclaimed Ephraim and his older brother Manasseh to be his own sons. Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, Canaan, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Jacob, and Isaac, and to Isaac's father Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and their descendants. The Lord God told Joshua to assign 1 man from each of the Israelite tribes to take a stone out of the Jordan River and place each stone in the place whereupon the Israelites would be sleeping during their 1st night in the Promised Land. Over 550 years after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Isaiah the prophet received a revelation from the Lord God regarding a foundation stone. Over 600 years after Isaiah proclaimed the words of the Lord God to the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. All Gone

Jerusalem, the royal city of the southern nation of
 Judah in the Promised Land, is conquered by the 

Babylonians, according to the will of the Lord God,

due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites:

And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem: And he burnt the house of the LORD, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man's house burnt he with fire. And all the army of the Chaldees, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down the walls of Jerusalem round about. Now the rest of the people that were left in the city, and the fugitives that fell away to the king of Babylon, with remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carry away. But the captain of the guard left of the poor of the land to be vinedressers and husbandmen. And the pillars of brass that were in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the brasen sea that was in the house of the LORD, did the Chaldees break in pieces, and carried the brass of them to Babylon. And the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass wherewith they ministered, took they away. And the firepans, and the bowls, and such things as were of gold, in gold and of silver, in silver, the captain of the guard took away. The two pillars, one sea, and the bases which Solomon had made for the house of the LORD; the brass of all these vessels was without weight. The height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits, and the chapiter upon it was brass: and the height of the chapiter three cubits; and the wreathen work, and pomegranates upon the chapiter round about, all of brass: and like unto these had the second pillar with wreathen work. And the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the door: And out of the city he took an officer that was set over the men of war, and five men of them that were in the king's presence, which were found in the city, and the principal scribe of the host, which mustered the people of the land, and threescore men of the people of the land that were found in the city: And Nebuzaradan captain of the guard took these, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah: And the king of Babylon smote them, and slew them at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away out of their land.-2 Kings 25:8-21

Events that occurred after the Israelites (Hebrews/Jews)
returned to Jerusalem from Babylonian captivity and laid the
foundation for the new temple, decades after the Babylonians

destroyed the temple that was built by King Solomon, the third 

king to reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land:

And in the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of the their companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the Syrian tongue, and interpreted in the Syrian tongue. Rehum the chancellor and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king in this sort: Then wrote Rehum the chancellor, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions; the Dinaites, the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Susanchites, the Dehavites, and the Elamites, And the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Asnappar brought over, and set in the cities of Samaria, and the rest that are on this side the river, and at such a time. This is the copy of the letter that they sent unto him, even unto Artaxerxes the king; Thy servants the men on this side the river, and at such a time. Be it known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee to us are come unto Jerusalem, building the rebellious and the bad city, and have set up the walls thereof, and joined the foundations. Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou shalt endamage the revenue of the kings. Now because we have maintenance from the king's palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king's dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king; That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city destroyed. We certify the king that, if this city be builded again, and the walls thereof set up, by this means thou shalt have no portion on this side the river. Then sent the king an answer unto Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and unto the rest beyond the river, Peace, and at such a time. The letter which ye sent unto us hath been plainly read before me. And I commanded, and search hath been made, and it is found that this city of old time hath made insurrection against  kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made therein. There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, which have ruled over all countries beyond the river; and toll, tribute, and custom, was paid unto them. Give ye now commandment to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not builded, until another commandment shall be given from me. Take heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings? Now when the copy of king Artaxerxes' letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power. Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.-Ezra 4:7-24

Jesus the Christ, the Son of God,

was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb,

resurrected, seen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven:

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God:  and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good.
