Look, See, He's Trying to Start with Me

And Ben-hadad the king of Syria gathered all his host together: and there were thirty and two kings with him, and horses, and chariots: and he went up and besieged Samaria, and warred against it. And he sent messengers to Ahab king of Israel into the city, and said unto him, Thus saith Ben-hadad, Thy silver and thy gold is mine; thy wives also and thy children, even the goodliest, are mine. And the king of Israel answered and said, My lord, O king, according to thy saying, I am thine, and all that I have. And the messengers came again, and said, Thus speaketh Ben-hadad, saying, Although I have sent unto thee, saying, Thou shalt deliver me thy silver, and thy gold, and thy wives, and thy children; Yet I will send my servants unto thee to morrow about this time, and they shall search thine house, and the houses of thy servants; and it shall be, that whatsoever is pleasant in thine eyes, they shall put it in their hand, and take it away. Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, Mark, I pray you, and see how this man seeketh mischief: for he sent unto me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I denied him not.-1 Kings 20:1-7***King Ahab was an Israelite and the 7th king to reign over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel in the Promised Land. Ahab's wife Jezebel was a Sidonian (Zidonian) princesss. Ahab kept Jezebel informed of the goings-on throughout the kingdom. However, Jezebel was not around when Elijah, a prophet of the Lord God, challenged the idol worshiping prophets Jezebel and Ahab supported. Jezebel also was not present when Elijah had the idolatrous prophets captured and killed. Jezebel's vengeful vow was so frightening that Elijah ran away. And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king. And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress? And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and the king sent a man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master's feet behind him?-2 Kings 6:26-32***When King Ahab was ruling the northern nation of Israel in the Promised Land, the Lord God sent Elijah the prophet to proclaim messages to Ahab. After Ahab died from wounds he received in a battle against Ben-Hadad and the Syrians (Arameans), Ahaziah, the son born to Ahab and Jezebel, became the 8th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. After Ahaziah died, Ahab and Jezebel's son Joram (Jehoram) became the 9th king to rule over all of the Israelites. After Elijah went up into heaven by a whirlwind,  Elijah's successor Elisha the prophet proclaimed the words of the Lord God to Joram. During Joram's reign, King Ben-Hadad, ruler of Syria, launched another attack against Samaria, the royal city. A blockade was established around Samaria, and the actions of some Israelites within Samaria led Joram to pronounce a vow against Elisha. Over 800 years after Jehu, an Israelite army captain, became the 10th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born.
