And it came to pass, when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, Behold, David in the wilderness of En-gedi. Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats. And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave. And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privily. And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt. And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD's anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD. So David stayed his servants with these words and suffered them not to rise against Saul. But Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way. David also arose afterward, and went out of the cave, and cried after Saul, saying, My lord the king. And when Saul looked behind him, David stooped with his face to the earth, and bowed himself. And David said to Saul, Wherefore hearest thou men's words, saying, Behold, David seeketh thy hurt? Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that the LORD had delivered thee to day into mine hand in the cave: and some bade me kill thee: but mine eye spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he is the LORD's anointed. Moreover, my father, see, yea, see the skirt of thy robe in my hand: for in that I cut off the skirt of thy robe, and killed thee not, know thou and see that there is neither evil nor transgression in mine hand, and I have not sinned against thee; yet thou huntest my soul to take it. The LORD judge between me and thee, and the LORD avenge me of thee: but mine hand shall not be upon thee. As saith the proverb of the ancients, Wickedness proceedeth from the wicked: but mine hand shall not be upon thee. After whom is the king of Israel come out? after whom dost thou pursue? after a dead dog, after a flea. The LORD therefore be judge, and judge between me and thee, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of thine hand.-1 Samuel 24:1-15***Saul was an Israelite from the tribe of Benjamin, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. Saul was the 1st king to reign over the Israelites in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Saul disobeyed the commands of the Lord God. The Lord God rejected Saul as king and sent Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge who had anointed Saul, to anoint David to reign as king. David was from the tribe of Judah, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. Sometime thereafter, David began serving as a musician and an armor-bearer for Saul while still working as a shepherd. After David killed and beheaded Goliath the gigantic Philistine, David remained with Saul full-time. Jonathan, Saul's son, made a covenant with David. The Israelite women sang of David higher than they sang of Saul, and Saul was angry. Saul became afraid of David and wanted to kill David, and wanted David to get killed by enemies, and commanded others, including Jonathan, to kill David. Saul's daughter Michal married David and helped David escape from their home. David ran to Samuel, and Jonathan, and Ahimelech the priest. Ahimelech gave David consecrated bread and Goliath's sword. Afterwards, David went to Achish, the Philistine king of Gath, Goliath's hometown, and David went to the regions of Adullam, Keilah, Ziph, and the wilderness of En-gedi. After Jonathan and his brothers Abinadab and Malchishua were killed by the Philistines, and Saul's self-inflicted death on the same battlefield, men from the tribe of Judah anointed 30-year-old David, and he began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. Saul's son Ishbosheth (Eshbaal) reigned over the other Israelite tribes. Sometime after Ishbosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders went to David. David made a covenant with them and the elders anointed David, and 37 1/2-year-old David began to reign over all of the Israelites. Over 900 years after Solomon, the 2nd son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?-Matthew 26:45-54***Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, knew that the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law wanted to kill him, and Jesus knew that Judas Iscariot, his disciple and apostle, would scheme to betray him. Jesus knew when and how the betrayal would occur, and Jesus knew Judas Iscariot would think he was acting from his own will. Jesus spoke several times to his disciples of his impending death. When the armed group came to arrest Jesus, Simon Peter, the disciple and apostle who had walked on water, and received the revelation of Jesus being the Christ, the Son of the living God, and who had witnessed the gloriously transfigured Jesus speaking with Moses and Elijah, 2 prophets who had lived centuries earlier, and who had heard the Lord God speaking to him and James and John when they were enveloped in a cloud, exhibited a specific reaction. Less than 33 1/2 years after Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin, Jesus was crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven.-Genesis 11:26-35:29, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
