...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Romans 15:4 (KJV) reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Relax, Recline Before Leaving This Place of Mine

Naomi, Ruthand Boaz:

And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down. And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet. And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman. And he said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich. And now, my daughter, fear not; I  will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman. And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a a kinsman nearer than I. Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman's part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the LORD liveth: lie down until morning. And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor. Also he said, Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and she went into the city. And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her. And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law. Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.-Ruth 3:7-18

Boaz the Israelite meets Ruth the Moabite:

And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz. And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter. And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech. And, behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee. Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this? And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab: And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house. Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens: Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn. Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger? And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore. The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust. Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens. And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left. And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not: And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not. So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley. And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law saw what she had gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed. And her mother in law said unto her, Where hast thou gleaned to day? and where wroughtest thou? blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee. And she shewed her mother in law with whom she had wrought, and said, The man's name with whom I wrought to day is Boaz. And Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be he of the LORD, who hath not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead. And Naomi said unto her, The man is near of kin unto us, one of our next kinsmen. And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said unto me also, Thou shalt keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my harvest. And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter in law, It is good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, that they meet thee not in any other field. So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.-Ruth 2:1-23/the complete chapter

Love and Marriage

Boaz, Ruth and David:

So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son. And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.
And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him. And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it. And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David. Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron, And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab, and Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon, And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed, And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David
.-Ruth 4:13-22***Boaz was an Israelite from the tribe of Judah, descended from Noah the ark builder, Noah's son Shem, Shem's great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Terah, Terah's children Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), their son Isaac and his wife Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel) and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. The Canaanites descended from Noah's son Ham, and Ham's son Canaan. The Moabites descended from Abraham and Sarah's nephew Lot and Lot's oldest daughter and their son Moab. In the region of Adullam, Judah was married to a Canaanite woman, and Er, Onan and Shelah were born to Judah and his wife. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Er was wicked and the Lord God put Er to death, and Onan performed an act that displeased the Lord God, and the Lord God put Onan to death. Sometime after Judah's wife died, Judah was unknowingly intimate with Tamar, the widow of Er and Onan. Twin sons Pharez and Zarah (Perez and Zerah) were born to Judah and Tamar. Boaz's mother Rahab (Rachab?) is widely regarded to be the former harlot in Jericho. Boaz became the husband of  Ruth, the Moabite widow who had been married to Boaz's relative Mahlon, a son born to Elimelech and Naomi. Obed was born to Boaz and Naomi, and Jesse was born to Obed. David was the 8th son born to Jesse. Over a decade after David was born, Samuel the priest,
prophet and judge from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi, anointed David to reign as king over the Israelites in the Promised Land, according to the command of the Lord God. When David was 30 years old, he began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. When David was 37 1/2 years old, he became the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob,
and their descendants. Over 900 years after Solomon, a son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites, and 70-year-old David died, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings 1:1-2:12, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 4:1-23, 10:1-29:30, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.-Matthew 1:1-17***The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal the genealogy of Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) to JosephAbraham and his wife Sarah (Sarai) were born to Terah, and Terah was the great-great-great-great-great-grandson of Arphaxad, and Arphaxad was born to Shem, and Shem was born to Noah the ark builder. Noah was the great-grandson of Enoch, and Enoch was the great-great-great-grandson of Seth, and Seth was born to Adam and Eve. Adam was the 1st man. The Lord God created Adam. The Lord God formed Adam from the dust of the ground, and the Lord God made Adam's wife Eve, the mother of all living, after taking a part out of Adam. Isaac was born to 100-year-old Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. When Isaac was 40 years old, he was married to Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. Fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to 60-year-old Isaac and Rebekah. In Padan Aram, Haran, Jacob was married to Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean). Judas was Judah, the 4th son born to Jacob and Leah. Phares and Zara were Pharez and Zarah (Perez and Zerah), the twin sons born to Judah and his daughter-in-law Tamar (Thamar). Esrom was Hezron, Aram was Ram, and Naasson was Nahshon.  Booz was Boaz, the wealthy Israelite from the tribe of Judah who was married to Ruth, a Moabitess descended from Abraham and Sarah's nephew Lot and Lot's oldest daughter and their son Moab. Rachab is widely regarded to be Rahab, the woman in Jericho who hid 2 Israelite spies. Urias was Uriah, the 1st husband of Bathsheba.  After Uriah was killed, Bathsheba was married to King David, the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land. David and Bathsheba's son Solomon was the 3rd king. Roboam was Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah. Rehoboam was the 4th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Abia was Rehoboam's son Abijam (Abijah), the 2nd king to rule Judah. Josaphat was Abijam's grandson Jehoshaphat, the 4th king to rule Judah. Ozias was Jehoshaphat's great-great-great-grandson Uzziah (Azariah), the 9th king to rule Judah. Joatham was Uzziah's son Jotham, the 10th king to rule Judah. Achaz was Jotham's son Ahaz, the 11th king to rule Judah. Ezekias was Ahaz's son Hezekiah, the 12th king to rule Judah. Manasses was Hezekiah's son Manasseh, the 13th king to rule Judah. Josias was Manasseh's grandson Josiah, the 15th king to rule Judah. Josiah's son Jehoahaz was the 16th king to rule Judah. Josiah's son Jehoiakim (Eliakim) was the 17th king. During Jehoiakim's 11-year reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. Jechonias was Jehoiakim's son Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the 18th king to rule Judah. During Jehoachin's 3-month reign, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin, his wives and mother, to Babylon. Josiah's son Zedekiah (Mattaniah) was the 19th king to rule Judah. During the 11th year of Zedekiah's reign, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Salathiel was Shealtiel, and Zorobabel was Zerubbabel.  Joseph was the craftsman from the tribe of Judah, the tribe of Judah's kings, who was married to Mary, a virgin, after Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Heard Tell

Naomi and her family

Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem-judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons. And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehem-judah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there. And Elimelech Naomi's husband died; and she was left, and her two sons. And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years. And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband. Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread. Wherefore she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her; and they went on the way to return unto the land of Judah
.
-Ruth 1:1-7***Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai) were living among their family in Ur, in southern Mesopotamia, when the Lord God appeared to Abraham and told him to go out from his country and kin and come into the land he would be shown. Abraham and Sarah journeyed away from Ur with their father Terah, and nephew Lot, and began living in Haran, in northern Mesopotamia. Sometime after 205-year-old Terah died in Haran, 75-year-old Abraham, 65-year-old Sarah and Lot journeyed with their servants and possessions to Canaan, land inhabited by idolaters that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham's descendants and childless Abraham. The Lord God said he would make Abraham a great nation, and bless Abraham, and make Abraham's name great, and Abraham shall be a blessing. The Lord God told Abraham that he would bless those who blessed Abraham, and curse those who cursed Abraham, and in Abraham shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
During a famine, Abraham, Sarah and Lot went to Egypt, and they returned to Canaan with Abraham bringing the servants and animals that Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, gave him. Ishmael was born to 86-year-old Abraham and Hagar, Sarah's Egyptian maidservant. Isaac was born to 100-year-old Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. When Isaac was 40 years old, he was married to Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. Fraternal twins sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to 60-year-old Isaac and Rebekah. During a famine, the Lord God appeared to Isaac and told Isaac not to go to Egypt. The Lord God told Isaac to live in the land he would tell him. The Lord God told Isaac to live in Canaan, and the Lord God told Isaac he would be with Isaac, and bless Isaac, and give Canaan to Isaac and Isaac's descendants, and would confirm the oath that he swore to Abraham. The Lord God told Isaac he would multiply Isaac's descendants as the stars in the sky, and give Canaan to Isaac's descendants, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in Isaac's descendants. Esau was Isaac's favorite son, and Jacob was Rebekah's favorite. After Rebekah prompted Jacob to deceive Isaac, and cheat Esau, and learned that Esau planned to killed Jacob, she spoke words to Isaac that led him to send Jacob from their home in Beersheba, Canaan, to Rebekah's family in Padan Aram, Haran. During the journey, while Jacob was asleep and dreaming in Bethel (Luz), Canaan, Jacob saw the angels of God and saw and heard the Lord God speaking to him. The Lord God identified himself, and told Jacob that he will give Canaan to Jacob and Jacob's descendants, and said Jacob's descendants shall be like the dust of the earth, and Jacob shall spread abroad to the west, east, north, and south, and in Jacob and Jacob's descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed. During Jacob's 7th year in Haran, he was married to Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean). Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and daughter Dinah were born to Jacob and Leah. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant. Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob and Rachel, and Rachel and Joseph were Jacob's favorites. During Jacob's 20th year in Haran, he began journeying home to Canaan with his family, servants, animals, and possessions. Near Bethlehem, Benjamin was born to Jacob and Rachel, and Rachel died. Joseph was 17 years old when his brothers sold him to merchants traveling to Egypt and led Jacob to believe that Joseph was killed by a wild beast, and Joseph was 30 years old when Pharaoh proclaimed Joseph second-in-command.  After the 2nd time that Joseph's brothers were in Egypt during a famine to buy corn (grain), Joseph identified himself to them and told his brothers to move to Egypt with their families, including Jacob. Pharaoh heard about the reunion and expressed his generosity and hospitality. In Beersheba, Jacob offered sacrifices to the Lord God, and the Lord God spoke to 130-year-old Jacob. In Egypt, Jacob proclaimed Manasseh and Ephraim, the sons born to Jacob and his wife Asenath, to be his own sons, and the tribe of Joseph became the tribe of Manasseh and the tribe of Ephraim. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt, and Jacob's family buried his body in Canaan, and 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were born into the tribe of Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, the Lord God sent them to speak to the Israelite elders and Pharaoh. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, Pharaoh told Moses and Aaron to get the Israelites and their animals and go worship the Lord God. Moreover, Pharaoh told Moses and Aaron to bless him. Before Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, the Israelites asked for and were given an abundance of valuable goods, fulfilling the words that the Lord God spoke to Abraham. In the desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai, the Israelites heard the voice of the Lord God proclaim the Ten Commandments to them, and the Lord God began giving Moses judgments, statutes and laws for the Israelites, and the Lord God made a covenant with the Israelites, and the Lord God said they would obey the words of the Lord God. When Moses was upon Mount Sinai 40 days and nights with the Lord God, the Lord God gave Moses commands about the offering willing Israelites were to bring, and the Lord God described to Moses and showed Moses the likeness of the tabernacle, and the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and the other sacred items the Israelites were to make, and the Lord God told Moses that only Aaron, and Aaron's sons and the sons born to their descendants were to serve the Lord God as priests. Meanwhile, the Israelites thought they were abandoned and told Aaron to make gods to lead them. Aaron told the Israelites to bring him their gold earrings, and Aaron made a golden calf that the Israelites worshiped and Moses burned and ground. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam the prophetess died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron the high priest died. Near the Promised Land, Moses recounted the history of the Israelites, and the commandments, judgments, statutes, and laws, and Moses told the Israelites about the blessings that would come upon and overtake them in the Promised Land if they listened to and obeyed the voice of the Lord God accomplished all of the commandments, and the curses, including famine, that would come upon and overtake them if they did not listen to the voice of the Lord God and did not accomplish all of the commandments. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses the prophet died, and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' aide and successor from the tribe of Ephraim, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and their descendant, Over 200 years after 110-year-old Joshua died, and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Elimelech and Naomi were living in Bethlehem, in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Judah. During a famine, Elimelech and Naomi journeyed with their sons Mahlon and Chilion to stay amid the Moabites, the descendants of Lot and Lot's oldest daughter and their son Moab. Elimelech died, and Mahlon was married to Ruth, a Moabite, and Chilion was married to Orpah, a Moabite, and no children were born to them. Sometime after Mahlon and Chilion died, Naomi heard that the Lord God was providing for the Israelites, she began journeying towards Bethlehem with Ruth and Orpah. After a gentle prodding and tearful goodbye, Orpah returned to the Moabites. Ruth arrived in Bethlehem with Naomi, and became the wife of Boaz, Elimelech's wealthy relative from the tribe of Judah. Obed was born to Boaz and Ruth, and Jesse was born to Obed, and David was the 8th son born to Jesse. Over a decade after David was born, the Lord God sent Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge from the tribe of Levi, to Bethlehem to anoint David to reign as king. When David was 30 years old, he began to reign only over the tribe of Judah, and when David was 37 1/2 years old, he became the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites. At least 950 years after Solomon, a son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites, and 70-year-old David died, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born in Bethlehem, into the tribe of Judah, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Looking Like There's A-Courting in Sight

Naomi and Ruth

Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee? And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor. Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking. And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do. And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.

Ruth 3:1-5***Joshua was an Israelite from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Aaron and Moses were Israelites from the tribe of Levi, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah and their 3rd born son Levi. Forty years after Moses and Aaron led the Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, into the desert wilderness of Shur, and the desert wilderness of Sin, and the desert wilderness of Sinai, 123-year-old Aaron the high priest died, and Moses went upon Mount Nebo. The Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses the prophet died, and was divinely buried. Joshua was Moses' aide and successor. The Lord God spoke to Joshua, and Joshua sent 2 spies to Canaan, the Promised Land, and Rahab hid the spies, and the spies returned, and Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. A
fter 110-year-old Joshua died, and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, the elders were led by elders, judges and their own minds. Elimelech was an Israelite from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah, and lived in Bethlehem with his family in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Judah. During a famine Elimelech and his wife Naomi journeyed with their sons Mahlon and Chilion  to land inhabited by Moabites, the descendants of Abraham and Sarah's nephew Lot and Lot's oldest daughter and their son Moab. While in the land of the Moabites, Elimelech died, and Mahlon was married to Ruth, and Chilion was married to Orpah. Ruth and Orpah were Moabites, and they both remained childless. Sometime thereafter, Mahlon died and Chilion died. Naomi decided to return to her homeland after hearing that the Lord God had attended to the Israelites and given them bread. Ruth and Orpah were journeying with Naomi until Naomi told Ruth and Orpah to return home. Naomi blessed Ruth and Orpah and declared her reasons to her daughters-in-law. Orpah returned home, and Ruth pleaded to stay with Naomi, and made a vow. In Bethlehem, Naomi granted Ruth permission to work in the field, and Elimelech's relative Boaz saw Ruth, and asked his servant about her. Boaz spoke to Ruth, and Ruth spoke to Boaz, and Boaz spoke to his workers about Ruth. At home, Naomi questioned Ruth, and Ruth told Naomi about Boaz and his instructions. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Ruth obeyed Boaz's instructions, and Ruth obeyed Naomi's instructions and became Boaz's wife. Obed was born into the tribe of Judah to Boaz and Ruth, and Jesse was born to Obed, and David was Jesse's 8th born son. Over a decade after David was born, the Lord God sent Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge from the tribe of Levi, to Bethlehem to anoint David to reign as king. Meanwhile,  Saul, from the tribe of Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin, was the reigning ruler. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born in Bethlehem into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus 25:25, Numbers 13:1-14:45, 20:1-29, 26:1-27:23, Deuteronomy 25:5-10, 31:1-34:12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra 1:1-11, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
