And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people. And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder; And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was the scribe; And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief rulers.-2 Samuel 8:15-18

Solomon becomes the third king to rule

over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land:

And Bath-sheba went in unto the king into the chamber: and the king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite ministered unto the king. And Bath-sheba bowed, and did obeisance unto the king. And the king said, What wouldest thou? And she said unto him, My lord, thou swarest by the LORD thy God unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne. And now, behold, Adonijah reigneth; and now, my lord the king, thou knowest it not: And he hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the host: but Solomon thy servant hath he not called. And thou, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel are upon thee, that thou shouldest tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him. Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders. And, lo, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet also came in. And they told the king, saying, Behold Nathan the prophet. And when he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground. And Nathan said, My lord, O king, hast thou said, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? The king also said unto them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon: And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel: and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, God save king Solomon. Then ye shall come up after him, that he may come and sit upon my throne; for he shall be king in my stead: and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah. And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, Amen: the LORD God of my lord the king say so too. As the LORD hath been with my lord the king, even so be he with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David. So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon king David's mule, and brought him to Gihon. And Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon. And all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound of them.-1 Kings 1:15-40***Sometime after Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge from the tribe of Levi, anointed David to reign as king, David was married to Michal. Michal was the daughter of King Saul, the reigning ruler and 1st king to rule over the Israelites in the Promised Land. Sometime after Michal helped David escape from their home to avoid being killed by Saul, David was married to Abigail and Ahinoam, and Michal was married to Palti (Paltiel/Phalti/Phaltiel). Ater the Philistines killed Saul's sons Jonathan, Malchishua and Abinadab (Malchishua), and Saul's self-inflicted death on the same battlefield, men from the tribe of Judah anointed 30-year-old David, and began to reign only over the tribe of Judah, the tribe of his birth. Saul's son Ishbosheth (Eshbaal) ruled over the other Israelite tribes. Sometime after Ishbosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders went to David, and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed 37-year-old David and David became the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. While reigning, David was intimate with Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah, and caused Uriah to be killed. The Lord God caused the 1st child born to David and Bathsheba to die. Solomon was the 2nd child born to David and his wife Bathsheba. Amnon, the son born to David and Ahinoam, was David's firstborn son. Absalom, the son born to David and Maacah, was the 3rd son born to David. Adonijah, the son born to David and Haggith, was David's 4th born son. Years before Adonijah had himself proclaimed king while David reigned, Absalom had himself proclaimed king while David reigned, and Absalom was killed. Over 900 years after Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, became the 4th king to rule over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. And there went out after him Joab's men, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and all the mighty men: and they went out of Jerusalem, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri. When they were at the great stone which is in Gibeon, Amasa went before them. And Joab's garment that he had put on was girded unto him, and upon it a girdle with a sword fastened upon his loins in the sheath thereof; and as he went forth it fell out. And Joab said to Amasa, Art thou in health, my brother? And Joab took Amasa by the beard with the right hand to kiss him. But Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in Joab's hand: so he smote him therewith in the fifth rib, and shed out his bowels to the ground, and struck him not again; and he died. So Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri. And one of Joab's men stood by him, and said, He that favoureth Joab, and he that is for David, let him go after Joab. And Amasa wallowed in blood in the midst of the highway. And when the man saw that all the people stood still, he removed Amasa out of the highway into the field, and cast a cloth upon him, when he saw that every one that came by him stood still. When he was removed out of the highway, all the people went on after Joab, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.-2 Samuel 20:1-13***Over 800 years after Judah was born to Jacob (Israel) and his 1st wife Leah, and Benjamin was born to Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, David and his nephews Amasa, Abishai and Joab were born into the tribe of Judah, and Sheba was born into the tribe of Benjamin. David was 30 years old when he became the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Jacob, and to Jacob's father Isaac, and to Isaac's father Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to their descendants. Joab won a challenge proposed by David and became commander of the army. Years thereafter, Absalom, the son born to David and Maacah (Maachah/Maakah), had himself proclaimed king while David reigned. David and many of the people loyal to David hurried away from Jerusalem, the royal city. Meanwhile, Absalom sought advice, and was intimate with the 10 concubines David left in Jerusalem, and  appointed Amasa commander of the army. Absalom was killed by Joab  and Joab's 10 armor-bearers, despite a command given by David, and David commanded Amasa to lead the army. Before 70-year-old David died, Solomon, a son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites. At least 925 years after Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, became the 4th king to rule over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. David was the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. Before David ruled over all of the Israelites, he reigned only over the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah, the tribe of his birth. Before he began to reign only over the tribe of Judah, David lived on the run from King Saul, the reigning ruler. Saul was from the tribe of Jacob's 12th and last son Benjamin, and was the 1st king to rule over the Israelites. During the years on the run, Joab, Abishai and Asahel fought victoriously for and alongside David. After David became the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites, Joab became commander of the army. Without David's knowledge or permission, Joab killed Abner. Abner was Saul's cousin and army commander and had killed Asahel. Years thereafter, when Absalom, the son born to David and Maacah, had himself proclaimed king while David still reigned, Joab disobeyed David's command and thrust 3 weapons into Absalom's heart. Moreover, Joab killed David's nephew Amasa, who had briefly served as Absalom's army commander and was serving as David's commander. When Adonijah, the son born to David and Haggith, tried to proclaim himself king while David reigned, Joab and Abiathar the priest supported Adonijah. Before 70-year-old David died, Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites. In the beginning of Solomon's 40-year reign, Adonijah and Joab were killed by Benaiah, Abiathar was sent away, Zadok served as priest, and Jehoiada served as army commander. In the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible, the Cherethites (Cherethim) are associated with the Philistines, and no other information is specifically revealed about the Pelethites. Over 900 years after Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, became the 4th king to rule over all of the Israelites,  Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. And Joab returned to Jerusalem unto the king.-2 Samuel 20:1-22***Ishmael was born to 86-year-old Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Hagar, the maidservant of Abraham's wife Sarah (Sarai). Isaac was born to 100-year-old Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. When Isaac was 40 years old, he was married to Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. Fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to 60-year-old Isaac and Rebekah. In Padan Aram, Haran, Jacob was married to Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean). Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and daughter Dinah were born to Jacob and Leah. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant. Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob and Rachel. During Jacob's 20th year in Haran, he began journeying home to Canaan with his family, servants, animals, and possessions. Near Bethlehem, Benjamin was born to Jacob and Rachel, and Rachel died. Joseph was 17 years old when his brothers sold him to merchants traveling to Egypt and led Jacob to believe that Joseph was killed by a wild beast, and Joseph was 30 years old when Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, proclaimed him second-in-command. Jacob was 130 years old when he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt. In Egypt, Jacob proclaimed Manasseh and Ephraim, the sons born to Joseph and his wife Asenath, to be his own sons, and the tribe of Joseph became the tribe of Manasseh and the tribe of Ephraim. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt, and Jacob's family buried his body in Canaan, and 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were born into the tribe of Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, the Lord God sent them to speak to the Israelite elders and Pharaoh. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, Pharaoh told Moses and Aaron to get the Israelites and their animals and go worship the Lord God. Moreover, Pharaoh told Moses and Aaron to bless him. Before Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, the Israelites asked for and were given an abundance of valuable goods, fulfilling the words that the Lord God spoke to Abraham. In the desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai, the Israelites heard the voice of the Lord God proclaim the Ten Commandments to them, and the Lord God began giving Moses judgments, statutes, and laws for the Israelites, and the Lord God made a covenant with the Israelites, and the Israelites said they would obey the words of the Lord God. When Moses was upon Mount Sinai 40 days and nights with the Lord God, the Lord God gave Moses commands about the offering willing Israelites were to bring, and the Lord God described to Moses and showed Moses the likeness of the tabernacle, and the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and the other sacred items the Israelites were commanded to make, and the Lord God told Moses that only Aaron, and Aaron's sons and the sons born to their descendants were to serve the Lord God as priests. Meanwhile, the Israelites thought they were abandoned and told Aaron to make gods to lead them. Aaron told the Israelites to bring him their gold earrings, and Aaron made a golden calf that the Israelites worshiped and Moses burned and ground. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam the prophetess died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron the high priest died. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses the prophet died, and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' aide and successor from the tribe of Ephraim, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. After 110-year-old Joshua died, and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, the Israelites were led by elders, judges and their own minds. When Samuel the priest, prophet and judge from the tribe of Levi was elderly, and his sons Joel (Vashni) and Abiah (Abijah) were not obeying the commands of the Lord God, and King Nahash and his Ammonite army were preparing to attack, the Israelite elders demanded that Samuel appoint a king to lead them, and Samuel anointed Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin, to reign, according to the command of the Lord God. At Gibeah of God (the hill of God), the Spirit of God came upon Saul. At least twice, Saul did not obey the commands of the Lord God. Samuel told Saul that the Lord God rejected Saul from being king and had torn the kingdom from Saul. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that the Lord God sent Samuel to Bethlehem to anoint David, a man after God's own heart, to reign as king, and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David, and the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul. After Saul heard about David's skills, strength, appearance, and favor with the Lord God, Saul commanded that David's father Jesse send David to him, and David began serving as a musician and an armor-bearer for Saul. Amid the Valley of Elah, David killed and beheaded Goliath the gigantic Philistine. David and Jonathan, Saul's son, made a covenant. The Israelite women sang of David higher than they sang of Saul, and Saul was angry. Saul wanted to kill David, and became afraid of David, and sent David on missions to get killed, and commanded others, including Jonathan, to kill David. Saul's daughter Michal was married to David and helped David escape from their home. While David was living on the run, he was married to Abigail and Ahinoam, and Michal was married to Palti (Phalti/Paltiel/Phaltiel). After the Philistines killed Jonathan and his brothers Malchishua and Abinadab (Ishui?), and Saul's self-inflicted death on the same battlefield, men from the tribe of Judah anointed 30-year-old David, and David began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. Saul's cousin and army commander Abner set Saul's son Ishbosheth (Eshbaal) as king over the other Israelite tribes.  Amnon was born to David and Ahinoam. Absalom and Tamar were born to David and Maacah. In Gibeon, the men following Ishbosheth and Abner fought the men led by Joab. Joab, Abishai, Asahel, and Amasa were David's nephews. Joab, Abishai and Asahel were the sons born to David's sister Zeruiah, and Amasa was the son born to David's sister Abigail and Ithra (Jether), possibly a descendant of Ishmael. Joab and his men defeated Ishbosheth's men. After the fight, Abner unwillingly killed Asahel. During a relationship suspicion,  Ishbosheth spoke accusingly to Abner, and Abner offered his allegiance to David and started working to ensure that David was king. At Hebron, Joab killed Abner. David pronounced a judgment upon Joab. Sometime after Ishbosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders went to David and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed 37-year-old David, and David began to rule over all of the Israelites and appointed Joab commander of the army. After Amnon raped Tamar, and Amnon was killed according to Absalom's command, and Absalom bolted from the kingdom, Joab successfully worked to bring Absalom home. Over 2 years after David and Absalom were reunited, Absalom had himself proclaimed king while David still reigned. David, Joab and others loyal to David left Jerusalem. Absalom appointed Amasa commander of the army. Before Joab and his men went to battle Absalom's troops, David told Joab, Abishai and Ittai to treat Absalom gently. Joab and his warriors defeated Absalom's troops, and Joab was told about Absalom's location. Joab thrust 3 weapons into Absalom's body, and Joab's 10 armor-bearers attacked Absalom. When David was mourning Absalom's death, Joab spoke to David, and David went to the city gate, and the news of David's position spread, and David appointed Amasa commander of the army. Sheba, from the tribe of Benjamin, started a revolt. The Israelites from the tribe of Judah remained loyal to David. David sent Amasa to gather the men of Judah together, and sent Abishai with Joab and other troops to capture Sheba. Meanwhile, Joab came across Amasa and killed him, and led the troops on a hunt for Sheba. At least 950 years after Adonijah, the son born to David and Haggith, tried to have himself proclaimed king while David reigned, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born.
