Joseph and Mary were Israelites, descendants of Jacob (Israel), Isaac and Rebekah, Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Terah (Thara), Arphaxad, Shem (Sem), Noah (Noe), Methuselah (Mathusala), Enoch, Seth, and Seth's parents Adam and Eve. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that the Lord God created Adam, the 1st man. The Lord God formed Adam from the dust of the ground, and the Lord God made Adam's wife Eve, the mother of all living, after taking a part out of Adam. Enoch walked with the Lord God, and pleased the Lord God, and was 365 years old and alive when the Lord God took him.  Methuselah lived 969 years. Noah was the righteous and blameless  ark builder and preacher who walked with the Lord God. Decades after Jacob and his older fraternal twin brother Esau (Edom) were born to Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob was married to Rebekah's nieces Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean).
