...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Romans 15:4 (KJV) reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Xxxs and Ooos Before You Go

The Lord God,
and Jacob, and Laban

And Jacob stole away unawares to Laban the Syrian, in that he told him not that he fled. So he fled with all that he had; and he rose up, and passed over the river, and set his face toward the mount Gilead. And it was told Laban on the third day that Jacob was fled. And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days' journey; and they overtook him in the mount Gilead. And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said unto him, Take heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad. Then Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mount: and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mount of Gilead. And Laban said to Jacob, What hast thou done, that thou hast stolen away unawares to me, and carried away my daughters, as captives taken with the sword? Wherefore didst thou flee away secretly, and steal away from me; and didst not tell me, that I might have sent thee away with mirth, and with songs, with tabret, and with harp? And hast not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? thou hast now done foolishly in so doing

-Genesis 31:20-28***Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), Nahor (Nachor), Haran, and Sarah were born to Terah. Lot and Milcah were born to Haran. Bethuel the Syrian (Aramean) was born to Nahor and Milcah. Ishmael was born to 86-year-old Abraham and Hagar, Sarah's maidservant. Isaac was born to 100-year-old Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. Laban the Syrian (Aramean) and Rebekah were born to Bethuel. When Isaac was 40 years old, he was married to Rebekah. Fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to 60-year-old Isaac and Rebekah. Esau was Isaac's favorite, and Jacob was Rebekah's favorite. Issac was elderly and his eyesight was diminished when he told Esau to hunt a specific animal and prepare a specific meal, and Isaac told Esau that he would bless him. Rebekah heard the conversation, and prompted and prepared Jacob to deceive Isaac and cheat Esau. After Rebekah learned that Esau planned to kill Jacob, she spoke words to Isaac that led Isaac to send Jacob from their home in Beersheba, Canaan, to the home of Rebekah's family in Padan Aram, Haran. Jacob's only possessions were the clothes he was wearing and the staff in his hand. In Bethel (Luz), Jacob was asleep and saw, in a dream, the angels of God, and Jacob saw and heard the Lord God speaking to him.
One month after Jacob arrived, Laban asked Jacob to name a price for the work Jacob was performing. Jacob wanted to become the husband of Rachel, Laban's youngest daughter, and Laban agreed to Jacob's 7-year plan. Laban worked deceitfully before the wedding ceremony, and Jacob became the husband of Leah, Laban's oldest daughter. One week later, Jacob was married to Rachel, and Jacob worked 7 more years. Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and daughter Dinah were born to Jacob and Leah. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant. Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob and Rachel, and Rachel and Joseph were Jacob's favorites. Jacob sought Laban's permission to leave, and Laban offered to negotiate another deal. Jacob used the opportunity to grow wealthy. Tensions increased, and the men in Laban's household spoke resentfully about Jacob, and Laban acted differently towards Jacob. The Lord God spoke to Jacob and told Jacob to return to Canaan. Jacob spoke with Rachel and Leah, and during Jacob's 20th year in Haran, he began journeying home to Canaan with his family, servants, animals, and possessions. Approximately 1,900 years after Benjamin was born near Bethlehem to Jacob and Rachel, and Rachel died, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born in Bethlehem into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis, Exodus, Numbers 13:1-14:45, 20:1-29, 26:1-27:23, Deuteronomy 31:1-34:12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra 1:1-11, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
