...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Holy Scriptures have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Xxxs and Ooos Before You Go

And Jacob stole away unawares to Laban the Syrian, in that he told him not that he fled. So he fled with all that he had; and he rose up, and passed over the river, and set his face toward the mount Gilead. And it was told Laban on the third day that Jacob was fled. And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days' journey; and they overtook him in the mount Gilead. And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said unto him, Take heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad. Then Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mount: and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mount of Gilead. And Laban said to Jacob, What hast thou done, that thou hast stolen away unawares to me, and carried away my daughters, as captives taken with the sword? Wherefore didst thou flee away secretly, and steal away from me; and didst not tell me, that I might have sent thee away with mirth, and with songs, with tabret, and with harp? And hast not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? thou hast now done foolishly in so doing.-Genesis 31:20-28***After Jacob (Israel) arrived in Padan-aram, Haran, in northern Mesopotamia, and saw Rachel, he greeted Rachel with a kiss and tears. When Rachel's father Laban the Syrian saw Jacob, his nephew, he greeted Jacob with a hug, a kiss, a welcoming declaration, and a place in his home. Jacob was the youngest fraternal twin son born to Isaac and Rebekah, and Rebekah was Laban's sister. A month after Jacob arrived, Laban asked Jacob to name his price for the work Jacob was performing. Jacob requested only to marry Rachel. Laban agreed to let Jacob work 7 years to marry Rachel. Laban's deceitful actions led to Jacob working an additional 7 years. Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and Dinah were born to Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, Rachel's sister. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant. After Joseph was born to Jacob and Rachel, Jacob sought Laban's permission to leave. Laban offered to negotiate another deal, and Jacob used the opportunity to grow wealthy. Tensions increased, the men in Laban's household spoke resentfully of Jacob, and Laban acted differently towards Jacob. After the Lord God spoke to Jacob and told Jacob to return to Canaan, Jacob spoke with Rachel and Leah. Shortly thereafter, Jacob, Leah, Rachel, Bilhah, Zilpah, and the 12 children left with their servants and possessions. Approximately 1,900 years after Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin was born near Bethlehem, and Rachel died, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born in Bethlehem into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

                 *************************

And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more. Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears. And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel. Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all. And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul's neck, and kissed him, Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.-Acts 20:25-38***After Paul (Saul) heard the voice of Jesus the Christ, who had been crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, and returned to heaven, speaking to him, Paul no longer persecuted or imprisoned fellow Israelites who believed Jesus to be the Christ, the Son of God. Many Israelites wanted to kill Paul. With the help of Barnabas, the Israelite and believer from the tribe of Levi, Paul was gradually accepted among the Israelites who believed Jesus to be the Christ. Afterwards, Paul encountered a variety of greetings and departures. In Antioch, Barnabas and Paul were sent away after the believers fasted, prayed and laid holy hands on them. In Antioch of Pisidia, the Israelites kicked Paul and Barnabas out of their land. The people in Lystra wanted to worship Paul and Barnabas, However, Paul ended up being stoned, then dragged out of town, supposedly dead. Paul and Barnabas experienced a personal disagreement in Antioch. After visiting Lydia in Thyatira, Paul and Silas, a believer and prophet of the Lord God, were dragged, stripped, flogged, and imprisoned. In Corinth, Paul was attacked and brought before the court. In Miletus, before setting sail, Paul summoned elders from the city of Ephesus and spoke to them.-Genesis 11:26-35:29, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 8:1-40, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 6:1-8:4, 9:1-31, 11:19-28:31, Ephesians.
