Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Holy Scriptures have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Get to Gettin'

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born king of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.-Matthew 2:1-15***When Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) lived in southern Mesopotamia in Ur, the Lord God appeared to Abraham and told him to depart from his country and kin and come into the land he would be shown. Abraham journeyed away from Ur with his wife Sarah (Sarai)their father Terah and nephew Lot, and settled in Haran in northern Mesopotamia. After 205-year-old Terah died in Haran, Abraham, Sarah and Lot journeyed with their servants, animals and possessFadions to Canaan, a land inhabited by idol worshipers. The Lord God promised to give Canaan to Abraham's descendants and Abraham. During a famine, Abraham, Sarah and Lot briefly stayed in Egypt. Afterwards, they returned to Canaan and remained in Canaan. When Abraham was 86 years old, Ishmael was born to Abraham and Hagar, Sarah's Egyptian maidservant. When Abraham was 100 years old, Isaac was born to Abraham and Sarah. When Isaac was 40 years old, he married Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. When Isaac was 60 years old, fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to Isaac and Rebekah. Decades thereafter, Jacob married Rebekah's nieces Leah and Rachel. Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and Dinah were born to Jacob and Leah. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant. Joseph and Benjamin were born to Jacob and Rachel. There was trauma among the 12 sons, the forefathers of the 12 tribes of Israel. When Joseph was at least 17 years old, his brothers sold him to merchants traveling to Egypt and led Jacob to believe that Joseph was killed by an animal. The merchants sold Joseph to Potiphar, an Egyptian official. After Potiphar's wife made a false accusation, Potiphar put Joseph in the king's prison, and Joseph became a supervisor over the prisoners. Meanwhile, the cupbearer and baker who worked for Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, were imprisoned, and Joseph interpreted each man's dream. At least 2 years thereafter, Joseph interpreted 2 dreams for Pharaoh and Pharaoh proclaimed Joseph to be second-in-command in Egypt. Pharaoh arranged a marriage between Joseph and Asenath, the daughter of an Egyptian priest, and their sons Manasseh and Ephraim were born. During a famine, Jacob kept Benjamin home and sent his other sons to Egypt to buy food. Joseph recognized and questioned his brothers without his brothers recognizing him. Joseph imprisoned Simeon after demanding that his brothers bring Benjamin from Canaan to Egypt. As the famine continued, Jacob sent Benjamin and his other sons to Egypt to buy more grain. Joseph revealed his identity to his brothers and told them to move with Jacob and their families to Egypt. Pharaoh gave a similar command, and 130-year-old Jacob and his family moved to Egypt. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt and his body was buried in Canaan, and Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Aaron and his brother Moses were from the tribe of Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, the Lord God sent them to speak to Pharaoh and the Israelite elders. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness. During the 40th year of their journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Aaron died and was buried upon Mount Hor, and Moses went upon Mount NeboThe Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, was from the tribe of Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. After 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, the Israelites were led by elders, judges or their own minds. When Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge was old, and Samuel's sons Joel (Vashni) and Abiah were misbehaving, and King Nahash and his fellow Ammonites were preparing to attack, the Israelites demanded that Samuel establish a king to lead them. The Lord God told Samuel to anoint Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin, to reign. Saul did not obey the commands of the Lord God. While Saul was reigning, the Lord God sent Samuel to anoint David, from the tribe of Judah, to reign as king. After Saul's self-inflicted  death on the battlefield, 30-year-old David began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. Saul's son Ishbosheth (Eshbaal) reigned over the other Israelite tribes. After Ishbosheth was murdered, 37 1/2-year-old David became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. Solomon, the 2nd son born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites. Solomon married an Egyptian princess, built her a palace, stayed married to 700 idol worshiping princesses and was intimately involved with 300 concubines.  Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to reign over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam was the 1st king to reign. Israelites in both kingdoms were involved in various alliances with the Egyptians. Sometimes Israelites fled to Egypt, disobeying the commands of the Lord God to depend upon the Lord God for help. Less than 200 years after Jeroboam's son Nadab became the 2nd king to rule the northern nation of Israel, the Assyrians invaded the kingdom and conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. During the reign of King Hoshea, the 19th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel, the Assyrians invaded and conquered the kingdom, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Less than 140 years after Samaria was conquered, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. A group of Israelites who survived the Babylonian attack were determined to flee to Egypt. Jeremiah the prophet proclaimed the words of the Lord God to them, revealing that the Lord God wanted the survivors to remain in Judah under the authority of the Babylonians. Despite the warnings of death and captivity spoken by Jeremiah, the group went to Egypt and took Jeremiah with them. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. The Roman Empire was ruling the land whereupon the kingdoms of the Israelites previously stood, and King Herod the Great was ruling Judea. When wise men, Magi, from the east arrived in Jerusalem to worship Jesus the Christ, Herod questioned the Israelite chief priests and scholars. The chief priests and scholars answered Herod with the words of a prophecy spoken by Micah the prophet over 675 years earlier. Herod questioned the wise men and told them to go to Bethlehem and return to Jerusalem. However, after the wise men worshiped Jesus, they returned to the east.
