...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Holy Scriptures have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Alrighty, then

And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel. Now the name of his firstborn was Joel; and the name of his second, Abijah: they were judges in Beer-sheba. And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment. Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah, And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations. But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD. And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them. According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee. Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit yet protest solemnly unto them, and shew them the manner of the king that shall reign over them.-1 Samuel 8:1-9***In the desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai, the Lord God made a covenant with the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Months earlier, Moses and his older brother Aaron led their fellow Israelites away from Egypt, the country wherein the Israelites were enslaved and under the authority of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. During the 40th year of their journey through the desert wilderness to Canaan, the Promised Land, 123-year-old Aaron died and was buried upon Mount Hor. Shortly thereafter, Moses began proclaiming his last messages to the Israelites. Moses told the Israelites that they would desire to be led by a king, and Moses described the qualifications and duties of the king. Moreover, Moses described the blessings that would come upon and overtake the Israelites if they obeyed the voice of the Lord God, and the curses that would come upon and overtake the Israelites if they did not obey the voice of the Lord God and observe all of the commandments and statutes that the Lord God gave for the Israelites. The Lord God told Moses that the Israelites would worship idols, and the Lord God told Moses to write down and teach a specific song to the Israelites. After Moses told the Israelites that he knew they would be rebellious, Moses and Joshua, his successor, proclaimed the words of the song to the Israelites. When 120-year-old Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and their descendants. Over 275 years after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Samuel the priest, prophet and judge from the tribe of Levi, the birth tribe of Aaron and Moses, was leading the Israelites. When Samuel was elderly, and his sons Abiah and Joel (Vashni) were not obeying the commands of the Lord God, and King Nahash and his fellow Ammonites were preparing to attack, the Israelite elders demanded that Samuel appoint a king to lead them. Saul was an Israelite from the tribe of Benjamin, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. Samuel anointed Saul to reign as king, according to the command of the Lord God. At least twice, Saul did not obey the commands of the Lord God. David was an Israelite from the tribe of Judah, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. Levi was Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son. Over 1,000 years after the Lord God sent Samuel to anoint David to reign as king while Saul was reigning, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 13:1-14:35, 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 17:14-20, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
