Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Holy Scriptures have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. More Plus More Because of the Lord

Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.-Genesis 26:12-14***  Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai) were born to Terah, and Lot was born to Terah's son Haran. After the Lord God appeared to Abraham and told Abraham to depart from his country and kin and come into the land he would be shown, Abraham journeyed away from Ur in southern Mesopotamia with Sarah, Terah and Lot, and they began living in Haran in northern Mesopotamia. Sometime after 205-year-old Terah died in Haran, 75-year-old Abraham journeyed with Sarah, Lot, their servants, and possessions to Canaan. The Lord God promised to give Canaan to Abraham's descendants and Abraham. During a short stay in Egypt, Abraham gained sheep, donkeys, camels, cattle, and servants from Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. When Abraham and Lot began living in separate areas in Canaan, due to their wealth, Abraham's fortune also included tents, silver and gold. When Abraham was 86 years old, Ishmael was born to Abraham and Hagar, Sarah's Egyptian maidservant. When Abraham was 99 years old, the Lord God gave Abraham the covenant of circumcision. Shortly thereafter, the Lord God spoke with Abraham about Sodom, and Abraham spoke of righteous inhabitants to the Lord God. King Abimelech was the Philistine ruler of Gerar. After the Lord God spoke to Abimelech and warned him, Abimelech gave Abraham sheep, cattle and servants. When Abraham was 100 years old, Isaac was born to Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. Ishmael was born according to flesh and Isaac was born through the the promised. Years after Isaac was born, Abraham was able to show the depth of his faith in the Lord God. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah were born to Abraham and Keturah,  Abraham's 2nd wife. Abraham's sons received gifts from Abraham and were sent eastward, far away from Isaac, Abraham's primary heir. When Isaac was 40 years old, he married Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. When Isaac was 60 years old, fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel), were born to Isaac and Rebekah. Decades thereafter, Jacob married Rebekah's nieces Leah and Rachel. Over 1,900 years after Judah was born to Jacob and Leah, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-36:43, 1 Chronicles 1:1-2:55, 3:1-24, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, Romans 9:1-33, Galatians 4:1-31

I Told You Once, I Told You Twice, You're Not Applying Your Listening Ears to My Lies

And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son: And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck: And she gave the savoury meat and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob. And he came unto his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I; who art thou, my son? And Jacob said unto his father, I am Esau thy firstborn; I have done according as thou badest me: arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me. And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God brought it to me. And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not. And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau. And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau's hands: so he blessed him. And he said, Art thou my very son Esau? And he said, I am.-Genesis 27:15-24***In the womb, fraternal twins Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were in disharmony. Esau and Jacob were the only children born to Isaac and Rebekah, and the family lived in Canaan. Esau, the firstborn, became a rugged, hairy outdoorsman and Jacob became a quiet, smooth-skinned homebody. Esau began to be called Edom, meaning "red." After a divine encounter, Jacob was renamed "Israel," defined as "he struggles with God," and "prince with God," and "let God rule," and "God is upright," and "he retains God." When Isaac was seemingly preparing to die, he wanted Esau to hunt and cook a specific animal so that he could eat the meal and afterwards bless Esau. Rebekah heard Isaac's words and hurriedly sent Jacob on a speedier mission. Moreover, Rebekah disguised Jacob so that Jacob would be more believable when he lied. After Rebekah learned that Esau wanted to kill Jacob, Rebekah spoke to Jacob, and spoke to Isaac, and Isaac sent Jacob from Canaan to Padan Aram, Haran, in northern Mesopotamia to marry a daughter in Rebekah's family. Over 1,900 years after Jacob married Rebekah's nieces Leah and Rachel, and Judah was born to Jacob and Leah, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-36:43, 1 Chronicles 1:1-2:55, 3:1-24, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel, saying, It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night. And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal. And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD. And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear? And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed. Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the LORD hath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on. And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king over Israel? And the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed. Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the LORD? And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites. But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in Gilgal.-1 Samuel 15:10-21***King Saul worked against the change in his heart that the Lord God brought about and Saul was not committed to obeying the commands of the Lord God that were spoken to him by Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge. Years earlier, Samuel anointed Saul to reign as king in the Promised Land, according to the command of the Lord God. Fear was involved in Saul's decision to sacrifice offerings in Gilgal. Samuel spoke to Saul and gave Saul another assignment, instructing Saul to kill all the Amalekites and destroy everything they owned. Samuel, Saul and their fellow Israelites descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). A group of Amalekites descended from Isaac and Rebekah's oldest fraternal twin son Esau (Edom) and his wife Adah, their son Eliphaz and his concubine Timna, and Eliphaz and Timna's son Amalek. Over 375 years before Samuel anointed, Moses and his older brother Aaron led the Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, through the desert wilderness of Shur, and the desert wilderness of Sin.  In Rephidim, the Amalekites attacked the slowest Israelites. While Saul reigned, the Lord God sent Samuel to anoint David to reign as king. Sometime thereafter, David began serving as a musician and an armor-bearer for Saul. After David killed and beheaded Goliath the gigantic Philistine, David remained in Saul's service full-time. Jonathan, Saul's son, made a covenant with David. The Israelite women sang of David higher than they sang of Saul, and Saul was angry. Saul became afraid of David, and wanted to kill David, and sent David to get killed on the field, and commanded others, including Jonathan, to kill David. Saul's daughter Michal married David and helped David escape from their home. After Jonathan and his brothers Abinadab and Malchishua were killed by the Philistines, and Saul's self-inflicted death on the same battlefield, men from the tribe of Judah, David's birth tribe, anointed 30-year-old David and he began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. Saul's son Ishbosheth reigned over the other Israelite tribes. Sometime after Ishbosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders went to David. David made a covenant with the elders, and they anointed David, and 37 1/2-year-old David became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. Over 900 years after Solomon, the 2nd son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 25:17-19, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings 1:1-11:43, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 8:1-40, 9:35-44, 2 Chronicles 1:1-9:31, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

I'm a Great Ol' Wealthy Man, I'm so Great and Wealthy

And there was a man in Maon, whose possessions were in Carmel; and the man was very great, and he had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats: and he was shearing his sheep in Carmel. Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was churlish and evil in his doings; and he was of the house of Caleb. And David heard in the wilderness that Nabal did shear his sheep. And David sent out ten young men, and David said unto the young men, Get you up to Carmel, and go to Nabal, and greet him in my name: And thus shall ye say to him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast. And now I have heard that thou hast shearers: now thy shepherds which were with us, we hurt them not, neither was there ought missing unto them, all the while they were in Carmel. Ask thy young men, and they will shew thee. Wherefore let the young men find favour in thine eyes: for we come in a good day: give, I pray thee, whatsoever cometh to thine hand unto thy servants, and to thy son David. And when David's young men came, they spake to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased. And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there be many servants now a days that break away every man from his master. Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it unto men, whom I know not whence they be?-1 Samuel 25:2-11***David was anointed to reign as king by Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge, years after Samuel anointed Saul to reign as king in the Promised Land, according to the commands of the Lord God. David continued working as a shepherd for his father Jesse while Saul continued reigning as king. When David began working as a musician and an armor-bearer for Saul, David continued working as a shepherd. After David killed and beheaded Goliath the gigantic Philistine, David stayed in Saul's service full-time. Jonathan, Saul's son, made a covenant with David. The Israelite women sang of David higher than they sang of Saul. Saul became angry, and wanted to kill David, and sent David to get killed on the field, and commanded others, including Jonathan, to kill David. Saul's daughter Michal married David and helped David escape from their home. David went to Samuel, and Jonathan, and Ahimelech the priest, and King Achish, ruler of Gath, Goliath's hometown. David and the men who joined him stayed in a cave, and in a forest, and in the desert wilderness, including Maon. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Maon, Carmel and Hebron were in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Judah, the tribe of David's birth. Maon and Carmel were miles south of Hebron. After Jonathan and his brothers Abinadab and Malchishua were killed by the Philistines, and Saul's self-inflicted death on the same battlefield, men from the tribe of Judah anointed 30-year-old David and David began to reign in Hebron only over the tribe of Judah. And the king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed. Then answered Esther, and  said, My petition and my request is; If I have found favour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do tomorrow as the king hath said. Then went Haman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of indignation against Mordecai. Nevertheless Haman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife. And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.-Esther 5:6-11***Haman was of high rank in the court of King Ahasuerus (Xerxes), ruler of the Persian Empire. Haman socialized with Ahasuerus and seemingly had lengthy conversations with Ahasuerus. Haman was trusted to handle matters for Ahasuerus and Haman used his influence and authority to enact a decree that would bring about the death of every Israelite (Hebrew/Jew) throughout the kingdom and the seizure of everything they owned. The Israelites descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). Mordecai and Esther were Israelites and cousins. Esther became the wife of Ahasuerus.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings,  1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Esther, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

At that time Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered. And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not. Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon. Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.-Isaiah 39:1-4***King Hezekiah was the 12th king to rule Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land. Isaiah the prophet went to Hezekiah and revealed a message of death, according to the command of the Lord God. Hezekiah immediately prayed to the Lord God, and Isaiah was sent directly back to Hezekiah with a message of recovery and 15 more years of life. Shortly thereafter, Babylonians came to see Hezekiah bearing goodwill, gifts and letters from King Merodachbaladan (Berodachbaladan), ruler of Babylon. The Lord God gave another message to Isaiah for Hezekiah. During Hezekiah's reign, the Assyrians invaded the northern nation of Israel in the Promised Land and conquered the royal city, Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Hezekiah's great-great-grandson Jehoiakim (Eliakim) was the 17th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiakim's reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem, the royal city, and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. During the reign of Jehoiakim's son King Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the 18th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin and his family, to Babylon. During the reign of Jehoiakim's brother King Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the 19th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah, the birth tribe of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Isaiah 1:1-31, 36:1-39:8, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Very Glad for Ropes and Rags

And there came a man of God, and spake unto the king of Israel, and said, Thus saith the LORD, Because the Syrians have said, The LORD is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the LORD. And they pitched one over against the other seven days. And so it was, that in the seventh day the battle was joined: and the children of Israel slew of the Syrians an hundred thousand footmen in one day. But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; and there a wall fell upon twenty and seven thousand of the men that were left. And Ben-hadad fled, and came into the city, into an inner chamber. And his servants said unto him, Behold now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are merciful kings: let us, I pray thee, put sackcloth on our loins, and ropes upon our heads, and go out to the king of Israel: peradventure he will save thy life. So they girded sackcloth on their loins, and put ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said, Thy servant Ben-hadad saith, I pray thee, let me live. And he said, Is he yet alive? he is my brother.-1 Kings 20:28-32***King Ben-hadad, ruler of Syria (Aram), went to Samaria and put a claim on the gold, silver, wives, and children of King Ahab, the 7th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel in the Promised Land. After Ahab agreed to the demands, Ben-hadad said he was going to send men to plunder the palace and homes in Samaria. The Israelites told Ahab not to give in to Ben-Hadad, and both sides prepared to fight. Ben-hadad assembled his army and the armies of the 32 kings with him. Ahab prepared his 232 officers and 7,000 troops. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Ahab did not worship the Lord God. Ahab was an idol worshiper. The Lord God sent a prophet to tell Ahab the manner and reason the enemies would be handed to him. The Syrians and their allies were defeated, and a prophet of the Lord God told Ahab that he would have to fight the Syrians the following spring. Meanwhile, Ben-hadad's men advised Ben-hadad to fight the Israelites on level land. King Pekah was the 18th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. During Pekah's reign, the Assyrians invaded the kingdom and King Tiglath-pileser, ruler of Assyria, began taking Israelites to Assyria. During the reign of King Hoshea, the 19th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation, the Assyrians conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 100 years after Samaria was conquered, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land, and conquered the royal city, Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Now when Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, one of the eunuch's which was in the king's house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the dungeon; the king then sitting in the gate of Benjamin; Ebed-melech went forth out of the king's house, and spake to the king, saying, My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon; and he is like to die for hunger in the place where he is: for there is no more bread in the city. Then the king commanded Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, saying, Take from hence thirty men with thee, and take up Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon, before he die. So Ebed-melech took the men with him, and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took thence old cast clouts and old rotten rags, and let them down by cords into the dungeon to Jeremiah. And Ebed-melech the Ethiopian said unto Jeremiah, Put now these old cast clouts and rotten rags under thine armholes under the cords. And Jeremiah did so. So they drew up Jeremiah with cords, and took him up out of the dungeon: and Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.-Jeremiah 38:7-13***King Josiah was the 15th king to rule Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land. Jeremiah was a prophet of the Lord God. During the 13th year of Josiah's reign, Jeremiah began proclaiming the words of the Lord God to the Israelites in Judah and Jerusalem, the royal city. After Josiah died from wounds received in a battle against Pharaoh Neco, king of Egypt, Jeremiah mourned Josiah's death and tried to turn the Israelites in Judah back to the Lord God. Josiah's son Jehoahaz was anointed and became the 16th king to rule Judah. After 3 months, Neco took Jehoahaz away. Neco established Josiah's son Eliakim as king and renamed him Jehoiakim. During Jehoiakim's reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. After Jehoiakim died, Jehoiakim's son Jehoiachin  (Jeconiah/Coniah) became the 18th king to rule Judah. Jehoiachin reigned for 3 months and was taken with other Israelites to Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar left the poorest Israelites in Judah, and placed Josiah's son Mattaniah as king and changed Mattaniah's name to Zedekiah. Jehoahaz, Jehoiakim, Jehoiachin, Zedekiah, and many of their fellow Israelites refused to repent and refused to listen to Jeremiah. Four men who heard Jeremiah proclaim the words of the Lord God received permission from Zedekiah to deal with Jeremiah howsoever they pleased. Thus, the men used ropes to put Jeremiah in a muddy, waterless cistern. During the 11th year of Zedekiah's reign, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Jeremiah, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
