And there was a man in Maon, whose possessions were in Carmel; and the man was very great, and he had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats: and he was shearing his sheep in Carmel. Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was churlish and evil in his doings; and he was of the house of Caleb. And David heard in the wilderness that Nabal did shear his sheep. And David sent out ten young men, and David said unto the young men, Get you up to Carmel, and go to Nabal, and greet him in my name: And thus shall ye say to him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast. And now I have heard that thou hast shearers: now thy shepherds which were with us, we hurt them not, neither was there ought missing unto them, all the while they were in Carmel. Ask thy young men, and they will shew thee. Wherefore let the young men find favour in thine eyes: for we come in a good day: give, I pray thee, whatsoever cometh to thine hand unto thy servants, and to thy son David. And when David's young men came, they spake to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased. And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there be many servants now a days that break away every man from his master. Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it unto men, whom I know not whence they be?-1 Samuel 25:2-11***David was anointed to reign as king by Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge, years after Samuel anointed Saul to reign as king in the Promised Land, according to the commands of the Lord God. David continued working as a shepherd for his father Jesse while Saul continued reigning as king. When David began working as a musician and an armor-bearer for Saul, David continued working as a shepherd. After David killed and beheaded Goliath the gigantic Philistine, David stayed in Saul's service full-time. Jonathan, Saul's son, made a covenant with David. The Israelite women sang of David higher than they sang of Saul. Saul became angry, and wanted to kill David, and sent David to get killed on the field, and commanded others, including Jonathan, to kill David. Saul's daughter Michal married David and helped David escape from their home. David went to Samuel, and Jonathan, and Ahimelech the priest, and King Achish, ruler of Gath, Goliath's hometown. David and the men who joined him stayed in a cave, and in a forest, and in the desert wilderness, including Maon. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Maon, Carmel and Hebron were in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Judah, the tribe of David's birth. Maon and Carmel were miles south of Hebron. After Jonathan and his brothers Abinadab and Malchishua were killed by the Philistines, and Saul's self-inflicted death on the same battlefield, men from the tribe of Judah anointed 30-year-old David and David began to reign in Hebron only over the tribe of Judah. Saul's son Ishbosheth reigned over the other Israelite tribes. Sometime after Ishbosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders went to David and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed David, and 37 1/2-year-old David became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. Over 900 years after Solomon, the 2nd son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. And the king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed. Then went Haman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of indignation against Mordecai. Nevertheless Haman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife. And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.-Esther 5:6-11***Haman was of high rank in the court of King Ahasuerus (Xerxes), ruler of the Persian Empire. Haman socialized with Ahasuerus and seemingly had lengthy conversations with Ahasuerus. Haman was trusted to handle matters for Ahasuerus and Haman used his influence and authority to enact a decree that would bring about the death of every Israelite (Hebrew/Jew) throughout the kingdom and the seizure of everything they owned. The Israelites descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). Mordecai and Esther were Israelites and cousins.
