Up and at 'Em

Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying, Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast. There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.-Joshua 1:1-9***Aaron and his brother Moses were Israelites from the tribe of Levi, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, they led the Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God. In Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin, during the 40th year of their journey to Canaan, the Lord God told Moses and Aaron that they would not be allowed to bring the Israelites into the Promised Land. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron died and was buried. Sometime thereafter, Moses petitioned the Lord God to appoint another leader. The Lord God told Moses to lay his hands upon Joshua and give Joshua some authority in the presence of the Israelites. Joshua was from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that during an incident that occurred before the Israelites were in the desert wilderness of Sinai, Joshua selected men to fight against the Amalekites. Moreover, Joshua  was a man with the spirit of wisdom, and served as Moses' aide, and Joshua was waiting for Moses upon Mount Sinai after Moses returned from his 1st stay of 40 days and nights with the Lord God. Joshua would remain at the tabernacle, the tent of the meeting wherein the Lord God dwelt among the Israelites and met with his treasured and chosen people, each time Moses returned to the camp. Joshua was 1 of the 2 faithful spies who returned from the Promised Land with a good report. When 120-year-old Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and Moses died and was divinely buried. Over 1,400 years after Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born.
