Caleb, Joshua, and the other spies
So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath. And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.) And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs. The place was called the brook Eshchol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence. And they returned from searching of the land after forty days. And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land. And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it. Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there. The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan. And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.-Numbers 13:21-33***When Moses and his older brother Aaron led their fellow Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, according to the commands of the Lord God, the Israelites were not experienced warriors. Thus, the Lord God did not make the Israelites walk through the territory of the Philistines. The Israelites went through the desert wilderness towards the Red Sea. When the Israelites were camped near the Red Sea, they saw the Egyptians hurrying towards them, and the Israelites began crying to the Lord God and fearfully complaining to Moses. The Lord God spoke to Moses and gave Moses commands, and the Lord God caused an east wind to drive back the water of the sea. The sea was divided, and the Israelites, and those with them, went safely across. As Moses continued obeying the commands of the Lord God, the sea began to flow again and the Lord God caused the Egyptians to drown. Shortly thereafter, the Amalekites attacked the Israelites, killing the people who were the weakest and walking the farthest from the front. Moses told Joshua to gather men and fight the Amalekites, and the Lord God gave the Israelites the victory. In the desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai, the Israelites were frightened after seeing the fire wherein the Lord God descended to the top of the mountain, and after hearing the voice of the Lord God proclaim the Ten Commandments to them. The next year, the Israelites became fearful after 10 of the 12 spies the Lord God commanded Moses to send to Canaan, the Promised Land, returned with a terrifying report of gigantic inhabitants and walled cities. During the 40th year of their journey to the Promised Land, 123-year-old Aaron died upon Mount Hor, and Moses went upon Mount Nebo. The Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua the warrior and spy was Moses' assistant and successor from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Over 1,300 years after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 10:11-36, 13:1-14:45, 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 1:1-2:37, 4:32-40, 5:1-33, 25:17-19, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
