No One at All and None at All

A message the Lord God revealed
to Nahum the prophet sometime after
the Assyrians invaded the northern
nation of Israel in the Promised Land
and conquered the royal city, Samaria:

Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria; thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them.-Nahum 3:1

There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?-Nahum 3:19

Reference Information:
bruit = simaka = shema/shama = news, report, something heard

Reference Scriptures:
The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand: That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my  mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.-Isaiah 15:24-25

The LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.-Zephaniah 2:11...And he he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like a wilderness.-Zephaniah 2:13...This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.-Zephaniah 2:15

And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,-Luke 3:23...Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.-Luke 3:38

Anyone, Anyone

The Lord God
and Hosea the prophet:

O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity. Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips. Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hand, Ye re our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.-Hosea 14:1-3

I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him. I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon. His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon. They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive as the corn, and grow as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.-Hosea 14:4-5

Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? I have heard him, and observed him: I am like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found.-Hosea 14:8

Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the LORD lord are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.-Hosea 14:9/the complete chapter

 Background Information:

Israel was the northern nation in the Promised Land and Judah was the nation in the south. The Israelites in the tribe of Ephraim lived in the northern nation and were descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, their son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that the Lord God, and several of the prophets of the Lord God, including Hosea, sometimes identified the northern nation of Israel as Ephraim, a large and prominent tribe full of warriors. Lebanon was at the northern border of the Promised Land and was known for its trees and aromatic spices. The Promised Land, Canaan, was the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Joshua the warrior was from the tribe of Ephraim. Over 300 years after Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, Saul, from the tribe of Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin, became the 1st king to rule over the Israelites. David, from the tribe of Judah, was descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. When David was 30 years old, he began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. When David was 37 1/2 years old, he became the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites. Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to reign. Solomon mentioned Lebanon in some of the proverbs he spoke. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to rule over all of the Isralites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south and consisted of the tribe of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin. Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation and consisted of the other Israelite tribes. Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. Assyria (Asshur) was the land of the Assyrians. King Menahem was the 16th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. When King Tiglath-pileser (Pul), ruler of Assyria, came against the northern nation, Menahem paid Tiglath-pileser over 300 pounds of silver to be his ally. During the 20-year reign of King Pekah, the 18th king to rule the northern nation, Tiglath-pileser invaded the kingdom and began taking Israelites captive. When King Shalmaneser, ruler of Assyria, came against the kingdom during the reign of King Hoshea, the 19th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel, Hoshea paid Shalmaneser tribute money. During the 9th year of Hoshea's reign, the Assyrians conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Rehoboam's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Ahaz was the 11th king to rule Judah. At least twice while reigning, Ahaz sought help from Tiglath-pileser, and sent Tiglath-pileser gold and silver from the palace and the temple of the Lord. Hezekiah, the son born to Ahaz and Abi (Abijah) was the 12th king to rule Judah. Hezekiah did not make any payment to the Assyrians until after King Sennacherib, ruler of Assyria, captured fortified cities in Judah. Hezekiah took the silver from the palace and temple and cut the gold off the doors and pillars of the temple and gave them to Sennacherib. When Sennacherib sent delegates and an army to Jerusalem on a mission with a message, Hezekiah sent Shebna the scribe, and Eliakim, and Joah, and some elderly priests to Isaiah the prophet, and Hezekiah went to the temple of the Lord and prayed. Isaiah prayed to the Lord God and spoke the words of the Lord God to Shebna and those with him. The angel of the Lord struck 185,000 in the Assyrian camp, and Sennacherib was killed in Assyria by Adrammelech and Sharezer, his sons. Manasseh, the son born to Hezekiah and Hephzibah, was the 13th king to rule Judah. The Assyrians took Manasseh captive to Babylon, according to the will of the Lord God. In Babylon, Manasseh humbled himself before the face of the Lord God, and prayed to the Lord God, and the Lord God brought Manasseh back to Jerusalem. Manasseh's great-grandson Jehoikaim (Eliakim) was the 17th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiakim's 11-year reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the son born to Jehoiakim and Nehushta, was the 18th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiachin's 3-month reign, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin, his wives and mother, to Babylon. During the 11th year of the reign of Jehoiakim's brother King Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the 19th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah, the tribe of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Before Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, and after Jesus was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven less than 33 1/2 years after he was born, the Roman Empire was ruling the land whereupon the kingdoms of the Israelites previously stood.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 13:1-14:45, 20:1-29, 26:1-12:23, Deuteronomy 31:1-34:12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Song of Soolomon, Isaiah 36:1-39:8, Jeremiah 39:1-18, 52:1-34, Hosea, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Yet and Still

A message the Lord God
revealed to Hosea the prophet:

Blow ye the cornet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah: cry aloud at Bethaven, after thee, O Benjamin. Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be. The princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound: therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water. Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the commandment. Therefore will I be unto Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness. When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb: yet could he not heal you, nor cure you of your wound. For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue him. I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.-Hosea 5:8-15***Gibeah was the name of at least 2 cities in the Promised Land. Gibeah of Saul, also known as Gibeah of Benjamin, was in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Benjamin. Gibeah was the name of a city in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Judah. Similarly, Ramah was the name of several cities in the Promised Land. Ramah of Benjamin was in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Benjamin, and Bethaven was in land allotted to the tribe of Benjamin. Ramah of Mount Ephraim was also identified as Ramathaim-zophim. Most of Mount Ephraim was in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Ephraim. The Ephraimites, the Israelites in the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenathand Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Jacob proclaimed Ephraim and Ephraim's older brother Manasseh to be his own sons, and the tribe of Joseph became known as the tribe of Manasseh and the tribe of Ephraim. The Benjamites, the Israelites in the tribe of Benjamin, descended from Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. Israelites from the tribe of Judah descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin, was the 1st king to rule over the Israelites in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Approximately 400 years before Saul was anointed and reigned, the Israelites were in the desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai, and heard the voice of the Lord God proclaim the Ten Commandments to them, and  the Lord God began giving Moses some judgments, statutes and laws for the the Israelites, and the Lord God made a covenant with the Israelites. Moses and his older brother Aaron were from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son LeviThe Lord God told Moses that only Aaron, and Aaron's sons, and the sons born to their descendants were to serve the Lord God as priests. Moses proclaimed that the Israelites must not remove their neighbor's boundary landmarks in the Promised Land, according to the command of the Lord God. David, from the tribe of Judah, was the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites. Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to reign. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to rule over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south and consisted of the tribe of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin. Israel was the northern nation and consisted of the other Israelite tribes. Many Israelites in the tribe of Ephraim, the Ephraimites, were warriors, and their tribe was possibly the largest in the northern nation. Throughout the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible, the northern nation of Israel is sometimes identified as Ephraim. Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to rule the northern nation of Israel. After Jeroboam began thinking that he would be killed if the Israelites in the northern nation went to the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem, Judah's royal city, and turned their heart back to Rehoboam, he established a system of his own. Jeroboam placed a golden calf in Bethel, in the southern part of the kingdom bordering the tribes of Benjamin and Ephraim, and placed a golden calf in Dan, in the northern part of the kingdom, and appointed men of his own selection to serve as priests. Idolaters and murderers always ruled the northern nation.  Jehu was the 10th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. During the beginning of Jehu's 28-year reign, Jehu put the false priests and prophets to death and burned their idols. Yet, Jehu did not destroy the golden calf in Bethel or the golden calf in Dan. Sometime thereafter, Jehu became an idolater. Jehu's son Jehoahaz was the 11th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. Jehoahaz's son Jehoash (Joash) was the 12th king, and Joash's son Jeroboam was the 13th king to reign. King Hoshea was the 19th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. During the 9th year of Hoshea's reign, the Assyrians conquered Samaria, the royal city, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Rehoboam's great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Uzziah (Azariah) was the 9th king to rule Judah, and Uzziah's son Jotham was the 10th king. Jotham's son Ahaz, the 11th king, sought help from King Tiglath-pileser, ruler of Assyria. Ahaz's son Hezekiah was the 12th king to rule Judah. Hosea the prophet proclaimed the words of the Lord God to the Israelites when Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, Hezekiah, and Joash's son Jeroboam reigned. Uzziah, and Uzziah's great-great-great-grandfather Jehoshaphat, the 4th king to rule Judah, and Jehoshaphat's father Asa, the 3rd king to rule Judah, and Jotham, Hezekiah, and Hezekiah's great-grandson Josiah were the only kings in Judah who did not worship idols. Josiah's son Zedekiah (Mattaniah) was the 19th king to rule Judah. During the 11th year of Zedekiah's reign, the Babylonians (Chaldens) conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Before taking more Israelites to Babylon, the Babylonians burned the temple and other buildings. Less than 70 years after Jerusalem was conquered, King Cyrus, ruler of the Persian Empire, proclaimed that Israelites could return to Judah and Jerusalem and build the house of the Lord God. Over 500 years after the new temple was built, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah, the tribe of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 13:1-14:45, 20:1-29, 26:1-27:23, Deuteronomy 31:1-34:12, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Hosea, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Reference Scriptures:
Cursed be he that removeth his neighbour's landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen.-Deuteronomy 27:17

But unto the wicked God saith, What has thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?-Psalm 50:16...Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.-Psalm 50:22

The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Bethaven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it. It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.-Hosea 10:5-6

For Mine Own Sake, and for My Servant David's Sake

In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live. Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying, I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying, Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD. And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.-2 Kings 20:1-6

And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered. And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day? And Isaiah said, This sign shalt thou have of the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees? And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees. And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.-2 Kings 20:7-11***King Asa was the 3rd king to rule Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land. Jehoshaphat, the son born to Asa and Azubah, was the 4th king to rule Judah. Jehoshaphat's great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Uzziah (Azariah) was the 9th king to reign. Jotham, the son born to Uzziah and Jerushah, was the 10th king to rule Judah. Jotham's grandson Hezekiah was the 12th king to reign. Hezekiah's great-grandson Josiah was the 15th king to rule Judah. Asa, Jehoshaph, Uzziah, Jotham, Hezekiah, and Josiah only worshiped the Lord God and never worshiped idols. The other kings who ruled Judah worshiped idols. Asa's great-great-grandfather King David was the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that David was a man after God's own heart. While the army was away battling the Ammonites, David began an intimate relationship with Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah, a Hittite. After Nathan the prophet spoke the words of the Lord God to David, the Lord God struck the child, and the child became ill. David pleaded with the Lord God, and fasted and laid upon the ground. However, the child died, according to the will of the Lord God. Notably, when Hezekiah was deathly ill, Isaiah the prophet spoke the words of the Lord God to Hezekiah, and Hezekiah faced the wall, prayed to the Lord God, bitterly wept, and learned that the Lord God was going to heal him and give him 15 more years to live. Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites. Solomon was married to 700 idol worshiping princesses from foreign nations, and during the latter portion of Solomon's 40-year reign, Solomon became an idolater. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th and last king to rule over all of the Israelites, and the 1st king to rule Judah. Jehoahaz, the son born to Josiah and Hamutal, was the 16th king to rule Judah. Jehoiakim (Eliakim), the son born to Josiah and Zebudah, was the 17th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiakim's 11-year reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem, the royal city, and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the son born to Jehoiakim and Nehushta, was the 18th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiachin's 3-month reign, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin, his wives and mother, to Babylon, Josiah and Hamutal's son Zedekiah (Mattaniah), was the 19th king to rule Judah. During the 9th king of Zedekiah's reign, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Similarly, over 100 years before Jerusalem was conquered, the Assyrians invaded the northern nation of Israel in the Promised Land and conquered the royal city, Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah, the tribe David and his descendants, all of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 13:1-14:45, 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-34:12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Isaiah 37:1-39:8, Jeremiah 39:1-18, 52:1-34, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

For One or More Reasons

A message the Lord God revealed to Ezekiel the priest
and prophet about: Egypt, SamariaJerusalemthe
  Israelites, the descendants of Abraham
(Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai),
Isaac and Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's
youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel):

The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother: And they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they bruised the teats of their virginity. And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their names; Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah.-Ezekiel 23:1-4

And Aholah played the harlot when she was mine; and she doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians her neighbours, Which were clothed with blue, captains and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding upon horses. Thus she committed her whoredoms with them, with all them that were the chosen men of Assyria, and with all on whom she doted: with all their idols she defiled herself. Neither left she her whoredoms brought from Egypt: for in her youth they lay with her, and they bruised the breasts of her virginity, and poured their whoredom upon her. Wherefore I have delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, upon whom she doted. These discovered her nakedness: they took her sons and her daughters, and slew her with the sword: and she became famous among women; for they had executed judgment upon her.-Ezekiel 23:5-10

And when her sister Aholibah saw this, she was more corrupt in her inordinate love then she, and in her whoredoms more than her sister in her whoredoms. She doted upon the Assyrians her neighbors, captains and rulers clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding upon horses, all of them desirable young men. Then I saw that she was defiled, that they took both one way, And that she increased her whoredoms: for when she saw men pourtrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans pourtrayed with vermilion, Girded with girdles upon their loins, exceeding in dyed attire upon their heads, all of them princes to look to, after the manner of the Babylonians of Chaldea, the land of their nativity: And as soon as she saw them with her eyes, she doted upon them, and sent messengers unto them into Chaldea. And the Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their whoredom, and she was polluted with them, and her mind was alienated from them. So she discovered her whoredoms, and discovered her nakedness: then my mind was alienated from her, like as my mind was alienated from her sister. Yet she multiplied her whoredoms, in calling to remembrance the days of her youth, wherein she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt. For she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses. Thus thou calledst to remembrance the lewdness of thy youth, in bruising thy teats by the Egyptians for the paps of thy youth.-Ezekiel 23:11-21

Therefore, O Aholibah, thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will raise up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy mind is alienated, and I will bring them against thee on every side; The Babylonians, and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, and Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them: all of them desirable young men, captains and rulers, great lords and renowned, all of them riding upon horses. And they shall come against thee with chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, which shall set against thee buckler and shield and helmet round about: and I will set judgment before them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments. And I will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal furiously with thee: they shall take away thy nose and thine ears; and thy remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be devoured by the fire. They shall also strip thee out of thy clothes, and take away thy fair jewels. Thus will I make thy lewdness to cease from thee, and thy whoredom brought from the land of Egypt: so that thou shalt not lift up thine eyes unto them, nor remember Egypt any more.-Ezekiel 23:22-27

For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy mind is alienated: And they shall deal with thee hatefully, and shall take away all thy labour, and shall leave thee naked and bare: and the nakedness of thy whoredoms shall be discovered, both thy lewdness and thy whoredoms. I will do these things unto thee, because thou hast gone a whoring after the heathen, and because thou art polluted with their idols. Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; therefore will I give her cup into thine hand. Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou shalt drink of thy sister's cup deep and large: thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it containeth much. Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of thy sister Samaria. Thou shalt even drink it and suck it out, and thou shalt break the sherds thereof, and pluck off thine own breasts: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD. Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.-Ezekiel 23:28-35

The LORD said moreover unto me; Son of man, wilt thou judge Aholah and Aholibah? yea, declare unto them their abominations; That they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto me, to pass for them through the fire, to devour them. Moreover, this they have done unto me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths. For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, lo, thus have they done in the midst of mine house. And furthermore, that ye have sent for men to come from far, unto whom a messenger was sent; and, lo, they came: for whom thou dist wash thyself, paintedst thy eyes, and deckedst thyself with ornaments. And satest upon a stately bed, and a table prepared before it, whereupon thou hast set mine incense and mine oil. And a voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with the men of the common sort were brought Sabeans from the wilderness, which put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns upon their heads.-Ezekiel 23:36-42

Then said I unto her that was old in adulteries, Will they now commit whoredoms with her, and she with them? Yet they went in unto her, as they go in unto a woman that playeth the harlot: so went they in unto Aholah and unto Aholibah, the lewd women. And the righteous men, they shall judge them after the manner of adulteresses, and after the manner of women that shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands. For thus saith the Lord GOD; I will bring up a company upon them, and will give them to be removed and spoiled. And the company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire. Thus will I cause lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your lewdness. And they shall recompense your lewdness upon you, and ye shall bear the sins of  your idols: and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.-Ezekiel 23:43-49

Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years. And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt. It is a night to be much observed unto the LORD for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night of the LORD to be observed of all the children of Israel in their generations.-Exodus 12:40-42

Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.-Ezekiel 20:7-8

He Said, He Said

After the Assyrians invaded the northern nation of
Israel in the Promised Land and conquered Samaria,
King Sennacherib, ruler of Assyria,
 invaded Judah, the southern nation,
and sent an envoy to King Hezekiah in Jerusalem:

Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them. And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold. And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house. At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.-2 Kings 18:13-16

And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller's field. And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder. And Rabshakeh said unto them, Speak ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest? Thou sayest, (but they are but vain words,) I have counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me? Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him. But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem? Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will deliver thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them. How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen? Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me go up  against this land, and destroy it.-2 Kings 18:17-25

Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray  thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and talk not with us in the Jews' language in the ears of the people that are on the wall. But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?-2 Kings 18:26-27

Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and spake, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria: Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand: Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria. Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me, and then eat ye every man of his own vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his cistern: Until I come away and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria? Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand? Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?-2 Kings 18:28-35

But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not. Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.-2 Kings 18:36-37
