...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

For Mine Own Sake, and for My Servant David's Sake

In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live. Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying, I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying, Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD. And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.-2 Kings 20:1-6

And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered. And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day? And Isaiah said, This sign shalt thou have of the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees? And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees. And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.-2 Kings 20:7-11***Hezekiah was an Israelite from the tribe of Judah, born to King Ahaz and Abi (Abijah). Ahaz was the 11th king to rule Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land, and Hezekiah was the 12th king to reign. Hezekiah's great-grandson Josiah was the 15th king to rule Judah. Josiah and Hezekiah's grandfather King Jotham and great-grandfather King Uzziah (Azariah) only worshiped the Lord God. Uzziah's great-great-great-grandfather King Jehoshaphat and great-great-great-great King Asa only worshiped the Lord God. The other kings who ruled Judah worshiped idols. Asa's great-great-grandfather King David was the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, and the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that David was a man after God's own heart. While reigning, David began an intimate relationship with Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah, a Hittite. After Nathan the prophet spoke the words of the Lord God to David, the Lord God struck the child, and the child became ill. David pleaded with the Lord God, and fasted and laid upon the ground. However, the child died, according to the will of the Lord God. When Hezekiah was deathly ill, Isaiah the prophet spoke the words of the Lord God to Hezekiah. Afterwards, Hezekiah faced the wall, prayed to the Lord God, bitterly wept, and learned that the Lord God was going to heal him and give him 15 more years to live. Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land. Years after being married to 700 idol worshiping foreign princesses, Solomon became an idolater. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th and last king to rule over all of the Israelites, and the 1st king to rule Judah. Over 500 years after Josiah's son Zedekiah (Mattaniah) became the 19th king to rule Judah, and King Nebuchadnezzar and his Babylonian (Chaldean) army invaded Judah and conquered Jerusalem, the royal city, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 13:1-14:45, 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-34:12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Isaiah 37:1-39:8, Jeremiah 39:1-18, 52:1-34, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
