the son born to Jehoiakim and Nehushta, was the 18th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiachin's 3-month reign, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin, his wives and mother, to Babylon. In the 11th year of the reign of Josiah and Hamutal's son Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the 19th king, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Daniel and his friends Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego (Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah) were among the Israelites in Babylonian captivity. In Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar had a specific dream and Daniel explained the meaning of the dream to Nebuchadnezzar, according to the will of the Lord God. Sometime thereafter, Nebuchadnezzar had another specific dream and Daniel explained its meaning to Nebuchadnezzar, according to the will of the Lord God. When Nebuchadnezzar spoke about his own might and power, he was driven to live a beastly existence, according to the will of the Lord God. After Nebuchadnezzar's understanding returned at the appointed time, according to the will of the Lord God, and Nebuchadnezzar praised the Lord God, Nebuchadnezzar returned to his royal life. Over 500 years after King Cyrus, ruler of the Persian Empire, conquered the Babylonians and allowed Israelites throughout his kingdom to return to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born.
