...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

She Said He Said

And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years. And there was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and bare not. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines. Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of God, very terrible: but I asked him not whence he was, neither told he me his name: But he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death. Then Manoah intreated the LORD, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born. And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again unto the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband was not with her.-Judges 13:1-9***When Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), were elderly and decades into their childless marriage, the Lord God told Abraham that a son would be born to them. When Abraham was 86 years old, Ishmael was born to Abraham and Hagar, Sarah's maidservant. When Abraham was 100 years old, Isaac was born to Abraham and Sarah. When Isaac was 40 years old, he was married to Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. When Isaac was 60 years old, fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to Isaac and Rebekah. Decades thereafter, Jacob was married to Rebekah's nieces Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean). Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and daughter Dinah were born to Jacob and Leah. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant. Joseph and Benjamin  were born to Jacob and Rachel. When Jacob was 130 years old, he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt, the country wherein Joseph was second-in-command. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt and his family buried his body in Canaan, and 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were from the tribe of Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, they led the Israelites away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron died. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. After 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, the Israelites were led by elders, judges or their own minds. Years after Abdon the judge died, an angel spoke to the childless wife of Manoah, an Israelite from the tribe of Dan, and told Manoah's wife that she would give birth to a son. Manoah's wife spoke to Manoah, and when the child was born Manoah's wife named the child SamsonEli the priest and Elkanah were from the tribe of Levi. Hannah and Peninnah were Elkanah's wives. Several children were born to Elkanah and Penninah, while Hannah had never carried a child in her womb. When Hannah was at the tabernacle complex in Shiloh, Eli spoke words requesting that the Lord God give Hannah the request Hannah desired of the Lord God. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Samuel was born to Elkanah and Hannah. When Samuel the priest, prophet and judge was elderly, he anointed Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin, to reign as king over the Israelites in the Promised Land. At least twice, Saul did not obey the commands of the Lord God. While Saul reigned, the Lord God sent Samuel to anoint David, from the tribe of Judah, to reign as king. After Saul's self-inflicted death on the battlefield, men from the tribe of Judah anointed 30-year-old David and he began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. Saul's son Ishbosheth (Eshbaal) reigned over the other Israelite tribes. Sometime after Ishbosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders went to David, and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed 37-year-old David and he began to reign over all of the Israelite tribes. Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to reign. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to reign over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city, and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city, and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. Elisha was an Israelite and a prophet of the Lord God. When Elisha was in the northern nation of Israel, in Shunem, in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Issachar, Elisha learned from his servant Gehazi that the generous, married Shunnamite couple who had built an addition onto their home for Elisha's use and comfort was childless. Elisha spoke to the Shunnamite woman and told her about the son that would be born to her. The son was born and lived for years before dying. Less than 150 years after Elisha stretched himself upon the body of the Shunnamite woman's dead son and the son lived again, the Assyrians invaded the northern nation of Israel and conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Less than 140 years after Samaria was conquered, Rehoboam's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Zedekiah (Mattaniah) became the 19th king to rule Judah. During the 11th year of Zedekiah's reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) conquered Jerusalem,  according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth) were an elderly, childless couple from the tribe of Levi. When Zechariah was in the temple in Jerusalem, Gabriel, an angel of the Lord, told Zechariah that a son would be born to Zechariah and Elizabeth, and Zechariah was to name the child John. During the 6th month of Elizabeth's pregnancy, Gabriel the angel told Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin, that Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, would be conceived of the Holy Spirit in her womb. Joseph was an Israelite from the tribe of Judah. After Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb, an angel spoke to Joseph while Joseph was asleep and dreaming. The angel told Joseph to continue with his plans to marry Mary, and the angel told Joseph that the child in Mary's womb was conceived of the Holy Spirit and was to be named Jesus. Before Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary when Mary was a virgin, and after Jesus was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven less than 33 1/2 years after he was born, the Roman Empire was ruling the land whereupon the kingdoms of the Israelites previously stood.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Leviticus 11:1-47, Numbers 6:1-21, 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, Hebrews 11:1-40
