Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods; for the LORD our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed: and the LORD drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the LORD; for he is our God. And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins. If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good. And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the LORD. And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses. Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel. And the people said unto Joshua, The Lord our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.-Joshua 24:14-24***In Ur, in southern Mesopotamia, Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai),  lived in an idol worshiping environment. The Lord God appeared to Abraham and told Abraham to depart from his country and kin and come into the land he would be shown. Abraham, Sarah, their father Terah, and nephew Lot journeyed away from Ur and began living in Haran. After 205-year-old Terah died in Haran, Abraham, Sarah and Lot journeyed with their servants and possessions to Canaan. The Lord God told Abraham that he would make Abraham into a great nation and bless him, and the Lord God promised to give Canaan to Abraham and Abraham's descendants. The Lord God revealed that Abraham's descendants would undergo 400 years of oppression in a foreign land and Abraham would be the father of many nations. When Abraham was 86 years old, Ishmael was born to Abraham and Hagar, Sarah's maidservant. When Abraham was 100 years old, Isaac was born to Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. When Isaac was 40 years old, he married Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. When Isaac was 60 years old, fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to Isaac and Rebekah. Decades thereafter, Jacob married Rebekah's nieces Leah and Rachel. Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and Dinah were born to Jacob and Leah. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant. When Jacob was 130 years old, he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt, the country wherein Joseph was sold to Potiphar, an Egyptian official, and imprisoned, and was proclaimed second-in-command.  Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt and his body was buried in Canaan, and Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were from the tribe of Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, they led the Israelites away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God. Months thereafter, in the desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai, the Israelites heard the voice of the Lord God proclaim the Ten Commandments to them. When Moses was upon Mount Sinai with the Lord God for 40 days and nights, Aaron made a golden calf that the Israelites worshiped. In Shittim, the Israelites worshiped idols with the Moabites, the descendants of Lot and Lot's oldest daughter and their son Moab. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam died and was buried in Kadesh in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron died and was buried. When 120-year-old Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, was from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob and their descendants. Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years. In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods, And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made. And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city. And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree: And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger: For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing. Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets. Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God. And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them. And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served Baal. And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.-2 Kings 17:5-17***After the death of Joshua, the Israelites were led by elders, judges, or their own minds. Samuel the priest, prophet and judge was from the tribe of Levi. When Samuel was elderly, and his sons Joel (Vashni) and Abiah were wicked, and King Nahash and his fellow Ammonites were preparing to attack, the Israelite elders demanded that Samuel appoint a king to lead them. Samuel prayed to the Lord God, and proclaimed the words of the Lord God to the Israelites, and anointed Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin, to reign as king. Saul did not obey the commands of the Lord God. While Saul reigned, the Lord God sent Samuel to anoint David, from the tribe of Judah, to reign as king. David became a musician and an armor-bearer for Saul, and killed Goliath the gigantic Philistine, and entered into a covenant with Jonathan, Saul's son, and married Saul's daughter Michal, and lived on the run from Saul. After Saul's self-inflicted death on the battlefield, men from the tribe of Judah anointed 30-year-old David to reign, and David reigned only over the tribe of Judah. Saul's son Ishbosheth reigned over the other Israelite tribes. After Ishbosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders journeyed to David and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed 37-year-old David, and David became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land. Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to reign. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to reign over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam was the 1st king to reign. King Pekah was the 18th king to reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land. During Pekah's reign, the Assyrians invaded the kingdom and King Tiglath-pileser, ruler of Assyria, began taking Israelites to Assyria. During the reign of King Hoshea, the 19th king to rule the northern nation, the Assyrians conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Rehoboam's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Jehoiakim (Eliakim), the 17th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. During the reign of Jehoiakim's son King Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the 18th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites to Babylon. During the reign of Jehoiakim's brother King Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the 19th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians  conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Their gods and There's God

Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand. And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us. And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars. And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them. Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport. And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O LORD GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes. And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left. And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life. Then his brethren and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought him up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the buryingplace of Manoah his father. And he judged Israel twenty years.-Judges 16:23-31***Samson was born into the Israelite tribe of Dan during an era of wickedness among the Israelites. Thus, the Philistines were dominant over the Israelites, according to the will of the Lord God. The angel of the Lord appeared to Samson's mother before Samson was conceived and told her that the son she would conceive and give birth to was to be set apart to the Lord God as a Nazirite and would begin to deliver the Israelites from the Philistines. The angel gave Samson's mother and father instructions for raising the child. As Samson grew, the Lord God blessed Samson and the Spirit of the Lord began to propel Samson. According to the will of the Lord God, Samson married a Philistine woman from Timnath. Due to the results of a riddle put forth by Samson, Samson's bride was given to another man. In retaliation, Samson used the tails from 300 foxes to set fire in the region. The Philistines burned Samson's bride and her father to death. Samson killed some Philistines and agreed to let Israelites from the tribe of Judah hand him over to the Philistines. As the Israelites neared the Philistines heading towards them, Samson killed 1,000 Philistines with a donkey's jawbone and was not taken into custody. Sometime thereafter, when Samson was involved with Delilah, the Philistines used Samson's relationship with Delilah to capture Samson, remove Samson's eyes, and put Samson to work in their prison. Over 1,000 years after Samson prayed to the Lord God for strength, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Oh, No, Not So

And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked: The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked. And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men. And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker. Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people. Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out, And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from theses vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein: Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways. Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness. And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.-Acts 14:8-18***Paul (Saul) was an Israelite, a Roman citizen and a Pharisee, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. Judah was the 4th son born to Jacob and his 1st wife Leah. Over 1,900 years after Judah and Benjamin were born, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, and returned to heaven. Paul did not believe Jesus to be the Christ. Throughout Jerusalem, Paul persecuted and imprisoned any Israelite man of woman who believed Jesus to the Christ of God. When Paul was journeying to the synagogues in Damascus, Syria, to find, bind and take to Jerusalem any Israelite believers he found, Paul and those with him saw a light from heaven flash around them. Paul heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him, and Paul spoke to Jesus and obeyed Jesus. In Damascus Paul was baptized. From thenceforward, Paul the apostle journeyed and wrote divinely inspired letters teaching Israelites and Gentiles, people not born into the Israelite tribes, the good news of Jesus the Christ and everlasting life. Barnabas was an Israelite believer from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. Barnabas stood with Paul in front of the group of apostles and testified of Paul's new life in Christ. Sometime thereafter, Barnabas found Paul in Tarsus, and Paul, Barnabas, and other believers went on journeys proclaiming the gospel. Paul and Barnabas experienced opposition in Paphos, an invitation to speak and expulsion in Pisidian Antioch, and victory and the possibility of harm in Iconium. In Lystra, a healing miracle that occurred after Paul gave a command caused the surrounding crowd to think of Paul and Barnabas as gods. Relax, Recline Before Leaving This Place of Mine

And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; and he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, and said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant: let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree: and I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou has said. And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth. And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetched a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it. And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.-Genesis 18:1-8***Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) built an altar to the Lord God after the Lord God appeared to Abraham in Shechem  (Sichem) in Canaan. When Abraham was 99 years old, the Lord God appeared to Abraham and gave Abraham the covenant of circumcision, and gave Abraham the new name, and gave a new name to Abraham's wife Sarah (Sarai). Sometime thereafter, the Lord God appeared while Abraham was resting. Abraham extended the hospitality of his home to everyone he saw, including the 2 angels who went onward to Sodom.   The divinely inspired Scriptures reveal that the Lord God spoke to Abraham and Abraham spoke to the Lord God about Sodom, its destruction and inhabitants. When Abraham was 100 years old, Isaac was born to Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. When Isaac was 40 years old, he married Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. During the 20th year of their marriage, fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to Isaac and Rebekah. Decades thereafter, Jacob married Rebekah's nieces Leah and Rachel. Over 1,900 years after Judah was born to Jacob and Leah, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Through with You

And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.-Matthew 10:1-15***Before Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, sent his 12 disciples and apostles on their 1st mission, Jesus told them not to go among 2 specific groups. The 1st group, Gentiles, were people not descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his wives Leah and Rachel and maidservants Bilhah and Zilpah, and the 12 sons born to Jacob, his wives and maidservants. Samaritans were the people descended from the Israelites and the foreigners who were sent to live in Samaria after the Assyrians invaded the northern nation of Israel in the Promised Land and conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Jesus mentioned Sodom and Gomorrah (Gomorrha) to the 12 disciples. Over 2,000 years earlier, when Abraham and Sarah's nephew Lot was living in Sodom, the Lord God destroyed Sodom, Gomorrah, and the entire region, including Admah and Zeboiim (Zeboim), after Abraham  approached the Lord God and made pleas on behalf of the righteous.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Psalm 47

O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph. For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth. Say Nothing

And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him. And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly. And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town. And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am? And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets. And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ. And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.-Mark 8:22-30***When the Lord God spoke to Moses about the Israelites and their enslavement in Egypt, the Lord God revealed his name to Moses. The Lord God sent 80-year-old Moses and Moses' 83-year-old brother Aaron to the Israelite elders and to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. Aaron told the Israelite elders that the God of their ancestors Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), Isaac and Jacob (Israel) had appeared to Moses, and Moses, Aaron and the Israelite elders were to go to Pharaoh and request to be allowed to take a 3-day journey into the wilderness to offer sacrifices to the Lord God. According to the will of the Lord God, Pharaoh was not going to allow the Israelites to leave, and the Lord God was going to perform such wondrous acts throughout Egypt that the Egyptians and those who heard about the acts would know that the Lord God is God. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, Pharaoh told Moses and Aaron to get the Israelites and their animals and go serve the Lord God. Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur. During the 40th year of their journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants, 123-year-old Aaron died and was buried upon Mount Hor. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land. Over 300 years after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of land, Saul, from the tribe of Jacob's 12th and last son Benjamin, became the 1st king to reign over the Israelites in the Promised Land. David, from the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah, was the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to reign. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to reign over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into the 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. King Ahab was the 7th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. During Ahab's reign, Elijah (Elias) the prophet was proclaiming the words of the Lord God to the Israelites. Over 800 years after Elijah went up into heaven by a whirlwind, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah, the tribe of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world, and testified that Jesus is the Son of God. In Galilee, Jesus told  specific Israelite men, including Simon Peter, to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites. Bright Idea

Now the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle; The children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spake unto Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of the congregation, saying, Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon, Even the country which the LORD smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle: Wherefore, said they, if we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession, and bring us not over Jordan.-Numbers 32:1-5***Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and Dinah were born to Jacob (Israel) and his 1st wife Leah. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and maidservant Bilhah. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and maidservant Zilpah. Joseph and Benjamin were born to Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel. The 12 sons are the forefathers of the 12 tribes of Israel. However, the tribe of Joseph became known as the tribe of Manasseh and the tribe of Ephraim after Jacob proclaimed Manassesh and Ephraim, the sons born to Joseph and his wife Asenath, to be his own sons. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that the Lord God told Jacob's grandfather Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) that he would make Abraham into a great nation and give the land of Canaan to Abraham's descendants and to Abraham. Isaac was the only child born to Abraham and his wife Sarah (Sarai). The Lord God appeared to Isaac and promised to give Canaan to Isaac and Isaac's descendants. Jacob was the youngest fraternal twin son born to Isaac and his wife Rebekah. The Lord God appeared to Jacob in a dream and promised to give Canaan to Jacob and Jacob's descendants. During a famine, 130-year-old Jacob moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt, the country wherein Joseph was sold to Potiphar, an Egyptian official, and imprisoned, and proclaimed second-in-command. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt and his body was buried in Canaan, and Joseph and his siblings were dead, the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were born into the tribe of Levi. When Moses was 80 years old, the Lord God spoke to Moses and sent Moses and 83-year-old Aaron to speak to the Israelite elders and to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea and into the desert wilderness of Shur.  During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam died and was buried in Kadesh in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron died and was buried. The Israelites from the tribes of Reuben and Gad asked for permission to make their permanent homes on land that the Lord God had allowed the Israelites to capture from enemy Amorites, including gigantic King Og of Bashan. Shortly thereafter, 120-year-old Moses went upon Mount Nebo, and the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, was from the tribe of Ephraim. Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land. Over 1,300 years after Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born.
