...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Holy Scriptures have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Alrighty, then

And there was a young man out of Beth-lehem-judah of the family of Judah, who was a Levite, and he sojourned there. And the man departed out of the city from Beth-lehem-judah to sojourn where he could find a place: and he came to mount Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he journeyed. And Micah said unto him, Whence comest thou? And he said unto him, I am a Levite of Beth-lehem-judah, and I go to sojourn where I may find a place. And Micah said unto him, Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten shekels of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals. So the Levite went in. And the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was unto him as one of his sons.-Judges 17:7-11***Micah was an Israelite descended from Abraham  (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). Micah and his family lived in the Promised Land when the Israelites were being led by their own minds, before the rulership of Israelite kings  began. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Micah stole and returned 1,100 shekels of silver, and Micah's mother used some of the recovered silver to have a graven image and an idol made. Moreover, Micah had idols and a religious vestment made and appointed his son to serve as priest. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were Israelites from the tribe of Levi, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, they led the Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God. In the desert wilderness of Sinai, Moses was upon Mount Sinai with the Lord God for 40 days and nights. The Lord God told Moses that only Aaron and Aaron's sons and the sons born to their descendants were to serve the Lord God as priests. During the 40-year journey to the Promised Land, Miriam died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron died and was buried. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, was from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. After 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, the Israelites were led by elders, judges, or their own minds.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 3:1-4:49, 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

And they turned thitherward, and came to the house of the young man the Levite, even unto the house of Micah, and saluted him. And the six hundred men appointed with their weapons of war, which were of the children of Dan, stood by the entering of the gate. And the five men that went to spy out the land went up, and came in thither, and took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: and the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred men that were appointed with weapons of war. And these went into Micah's house, and fetched the carved image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image. Then said the priest unto them, What do ye? And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel? And the priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod, and the teraphim, and the graven image, and went in the midst of the people.-Judges 18:15-20***A wandering Israelite from the tribe of Levi stopped at the home of Micah while on a journey from Bethlehem. Micah had a religious garment and idols, and Micah's son performed religious duties. Micah invited the Levite traveler to live with him and serve as his spiritual father and priest in exchange for room, board and silver. Thus, the Levite was living in Micah's home and was noticed the 1st time 5 Israelites from the tribe of Dan passed by Micah's house. The Danites, the Israelites in the tribe of Dan, descended from Jacob and maidservant Bilhah, and Jacob and Bilhah's firstborn son Dan. When the 5 Danites returned with their fellow tribesmen to steal the artifacts previously spotted, they spoke to the Levite. Samuel the priest and prophet from the tribe of Levi was the last judge who worshiped the Lord God and led the Israelites to obey the Lord God. Over 1,000 years after Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin, became the 1st king to reign over the Israelites in the Promised Land, and Samuel died, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God,  was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-22, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

We Don't Even Know

And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders, And spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority? And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me: The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not? But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet. And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was. And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.-Luke 20:1-8***John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth) months before Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that John the Baptist was born to prepare people for Jesus, turn the hearts of the disobedient, and bring the Israelites back to the Lord. Jesus was born to reconcile man to God. John the Baptist baptized repenters with water while proclaiming the baptism of the Holy Spirit and of fire that was to come. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Jesus read and taught in the synagogues, commanded dead people back to life, cast out demons, forgave sins, and cured those who had ailments. Thus the blind could see, the lame could walk and the deaf could hear. Jesus chose 12 of his disciples, named them apostles, sent the 12 to perform similar actions, selected and sent out dozens more, and drove vendors from the area surrounding the temple in Jerusalem. After seeing and hearing Jesus, the Israelites were amazed and the chief priests, scribes and elders wanted to question Jesus and kill Jesus. Meanwhile, John the Baptist was imprisoned and beheaded. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed by the disciple and apostle Judas Iscariot, and Jesus was arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven.-Genesis 11:26-35:39, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 2 Corinthians 5:16-21, Ephesians 2:11-22, Colossians 1:1-23

They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind. And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see. Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them. They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet. But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight. And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see? His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind: But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age, ask him: he shall speak for himselfThese words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.-John 9:13-23***When the disciples of Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, questioned Jesus regarding the possible sin behind a blind man's condition, Jesus used the opportunity to teach about the manifestation of the works of the Lord God. Though it was the Sabbath day, Jesus mixed his spit with mud, put the substance on the man's eyes and sent the man to wash in the Pool of Siloam. With his ability to see, the man was set before the Pharisees and questioned. -Genesis 11:26-35:29, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

You're about to Croak from the Smoke

And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thine house upon thee with fire.-Judges 12:1***When Gideon (Jerubbaal) was leading his fellow Israelites  to victory over the Midianites and their allies, the Midianites and those with them ran through the portion of the Promised Land that belonged to Israelites from the tribe of Ephraim. The Ephraimites descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and Rachel, Joseph and  Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim. Gideon was from the tribe of Joseph and Asenath's firstborn son Manasseh. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Jacob declared Manasseh and Ephraim to be his own sons. When Gideon sent calls for help, the Ephraimites were asked to join the force last. The Ephraimites questioned Gideon. Several years thereafter,  Jephthah the judge, from the tribe of Manasseh and the clan of Manasseh's grandson Gilead, was leading the Israelites in a battle against the Ammonites, with no other Israelites except the Gileadites on his side.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 26:28-37, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:14-29, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

And Samson said unto them, I will now put forth a riddle unto you: if ye can certainly declare it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of garments: But if ye cannot declare it me, then shall ye give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments. And they said unto him, Put forth thy riddle, that we may hear it. And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle. And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson's wife, Entice thy husband that he may declare unto us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father's house with fire: have ye called us to take that we have? is it not so?-Judges 14:12-15***An angel of the Lord God appeared to Samson's mother and told her she would conceive and give birth to a son who was to be a Nazirite, set apart to do the work of the Lord God. The angel told the previously infertile woman that she must not consume any fermented drinks or eat any unclean food that was unclean, and she must never cut the child's hair. Thus, Samson was born into the tribe of Dan to the woman and her husband Manoah. Dan was the 1st son born to Jacob (Israel) and maidservant Bilhah. Samson learned to worship the Lord God, and learned the commandments and laws that the Lord God gave for the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Samson and his parents knew the laws regarding marriage, idol worshipers and food consumption. Yet, when Samson was in the land of the Philistines, Samson saw a Philistine woman he wanted to marry, according to the will of the Lord God. On Samson's return trip for the marriage ceremony, Samson ate honey made by bees swarming in the carcass of a lion he had previously slain with his hands, providing Samson with ammunition for a riddle. Over 1,000 years after Samson and a multitude of Philistines died after Samson prayed to the Lord God, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Judah was the 4th son born to Jacob and his 1st wife Leah.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Leviticus 11:1-47, Numbers 6:1-21, 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 7:1-4, 14:1-29, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

The Whole Generation, including you

And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar. And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou has taken; for she is a man's wife. But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, LORD, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation? Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou did this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.-Genesis 20:1-7***When Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai) and their nephew Lot journeyed from Canaan to Egypt during a time of famine, Sarah was at least 65 years old and very beautiful. Abraham believed that the Egyptians would want to keep Sarah and kill him. Thus, Abraham told Sarah, his wife and half sister, to claim to be his sister. Sarah was taken to the royal palace until a calamity sent by the Lord God caused Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, to return Sarah to Abraham. When Sarah was over 85 years old, she journeyed with Abraham to Gerar in Canaan. Abraham identified Sarah as his sister, and King Abimelech, ruler of the Philistines in Gerar, wanted Sarah. When Abraham was 100 years old, Isaac was born to Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. When Sarah was 127 years old, she died. Three years after Sarah's death, Isaac married Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. When Isaac was 60 years old, fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to Isaac and Rebekah. Decades thereafter, Jacob married Rebekah's nieces Leah and Rachel. Over 1,900 years after Judah was born to Jacob and Leah, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim. And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand. So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. And Moses built an altar and called the name of it Jehovah-nissi: For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.-Exodus 17:8-16***Joshua was the aide and future successor of Moses. Aaron was the older brother of Moses. Before Moses and Aaron led the Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, Aaron began speaking the words of the Lord God to the Israelites, according to the command of the Lord God. Hur was trusted, along with Aaron, to resolve matters the Israelites faced while Moses was with the Lord God on Mount Sinai for 40 days and nights. A group of Amalekites lived near the region of the Egyptian border. Over 600 years before the Amalekites attacked the Israelites, a group of Amalekites were beaten by the 4 kings who kidnapped Lot, the nephew of Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai). The Israelites descended from Abraham and Sarah, their son Isaac and his wife Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). Isaac and Rebekah's oldest twin son Esau (Edom) was the grandfather of a group of Amalekites. When the Israelites were exhausted after crossing the divinely parted Red Sea and journeying through the desert wilderness of Shur, and the desert wilderness of Sin, and entering Rephidim, the actions of Moses, Joshua, Aaron, and Hur helped lead the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God to victory. However, the Amalekites managed to kill the slowest movers among the Israelites.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 13:1-14:45, 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 25:17-19, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 1 Chronicles 1:1-4:23, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, 1 Samuel 15:1-37, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Vow to Kapow or to Get Dealt with Myself

And Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. And she said, Comest thou peaceably? And he said, Peaceably. He said moreover, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And she say, Say on. And he said, Thou knowest that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reign: howbeit the kingdom is turned about, and is become my brother's: for it was his from the LORD. And now I ask one petition of thee, deny me not. And she said unto him, Say on. And he said, Speak, I pray thee, unto Solomon the king, (for he will not say thee nay,) that he give me Abishag the Shunammite to wife. And Bathsheba said, Well; I will speak for thee unto the king. Bathsheba therefore went unto king Solomon, to speak unto him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself unto her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a seat to be set for the king's mother; and she sat on his right hand. Then she said, I desire one small petition of thee; I pray thee, say me not nay. And the king said unto her, Ask on, my mother: for I will not say thee nay. And she said, Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother to wife. And king Solomon answered and said unto his mother, And why dost thou ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom also; for he is mine elder brother; even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah. Then king Solomon sware by the LORD, saying, God do so to me, and more also, if Adonijah have not spoken this word against his own life. Now therefore, as the LORD liveth, which hath established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who hath made me a house, as he promised, Adonijah shall be put to death this day. And king Solomon sent by the hand of Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he fell upon him that he died.-1 Kings 2:13-25***King David was the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land. David was from the tribe of Judah, and was married to many women, and in relationships with multiple concubines. A few of David's sons, born to different mothers, were harmful to David and their siblings. Amnon, the son born to David and Ahinoam, raped Tamar, the daughter born to David and Maacah. David and Maacah's son Absalom commanded people to kill Amnon. Years thereafter, Absalom had himself proclaimed king while David still reigned. Despite David's command to his nephew and army commander Joab and Joab's brother Abishai, and Ittai the Gittite, Absalom was killed. Adonijah, the son born to David and Haggith, tried to steal the kingship twice. During Adonijah's 1st attempt to become king, he obtained chariots, horses, a corps of runners, and the allegiance of Abiathar the priest and Joab. Previously, Abiathar and Joab had always stood by David's side. Adonijah eventually attempted to move into the kingship by becoming attached to Abishag, the young maiden brought in to comfort David. Adonijah's plot was a politically strategic move often used during that era. Solomon, the 2nd son born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites. Adonijah sent Bathsheba to speak to Solomon, and Solomon understood Adonijah's true motive. Over 900 years after Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, became the 4th king to reign over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the  Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings 1:1-14:31, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles 1:1-12:16, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Visiting, Perchance, in Peace

And Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bath-sheba the mother of Solomon. And she said, Comest thou peaceably? And he said, Peaceably. He said moreover, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And she said, Say on. And Bath-Sheba said, Well; I will speak for thee unto the king.-1 Kings 2:13-18***Adonijah was born to King David and Haggith after Amnon was born to David and Ahinoam, and Chileab was born to David and Abigail, and Absalom was born to David and Maacah. Adonijah copied many of the destructive actions performed by Absalom. Adonijah gathered supporters, horses, chariots, and a procession of 50 running men just as Absalom had done during his preparations to grab the throne. Absalom made a public sacrifice of animals, and Adonijah made a public sacrifice of animals. Absalom engaged in sexual relations with David's concubines. Adonijah tried to engage in similar activities by going to see Bathsheba, the mother of Solomon. Solomon was the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba. After Solomon became the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, Adonijah sent Bathsheba to Solomon with a message regarding Abishag, the maiden who had kept David's bed warm. Bathsheba, knowing of several calamities in the family, questioned Adonijah.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings 1:1-14:31, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles 1:1-12:16, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Now these are they that came to David to Ziklag, while he yet kept himself close because of Saul the son of Kish: and they were among the mighty men, helpers of the war. They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in hurling stones and shooting arrows out of a bow, even of Saul's brethren of Benjamin. The chief was Ahiezer, then Joash, the sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite; and Jeziel, and Pelet, the sons of Azmameth; and Berachah, and Jehu the Antothite, and Ismaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty man among the thirty, and over the thirty; and Jeremiah, and Jahaziel, and Johanan, and Josabad the Gederathite, Eluzai, and Jerimoth, and Bealiah, and Shemariah, and Shephatiah the Haruphite, Elkanah, and Jesiah, and Azareel, and Joezer, and Jashobeam, the Korhites, And Joelah, and Zebadiah, the sons of Jeroham of Gedor. And of the Gadites there separated themselves unto David into the hold to the wilderness men of might, and men of war fit for the battle, that could handle shield and buckler, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as the roes upon the mountains; Ezer the first, Obadiah the second, Eliab the third, Mishmannah the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth, Attai the sixth, Eliel the seventh, Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth, Jeremiah the tenth, Machbanai the eleventh. These were of the sons of Gad, captains of the host: one of the least was over an hundred, and the greatest over a thousand. These are they that went over Jordan in the first month, when it had overflown all his banks; and they put to flight all them of the valleys, both toward the east, and toward the west. And there came of the children of Benjamin and Judah to the hold unto David. And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto you: but if ye be come to betray me to mine enemies, seeing there is no wrong in mine hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it.-1 Chronicles 12:1-17***David was born into the tribe of Judah, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. Over a decade after David was born, David was anointed by Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi, to reign as king, according to the command of the Lord God. Sometime thereafter, David began serving as a musician and an armor-bearer for King Saul, the reigning ruler. Saul was the 1st king to reign over the Israelites in the Promised Land, and was from the tribe of Benjamin, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. After David killed and beheaded Goliath, a gigantic Philistine, David remained with Saul full-time. Jonathan, Saul's son, made a covenant with David. The Israelite women sang of David higher than they sang of Saul, and Saul was angry. Saul became afraid of David, and wanted to kill David, and sent David to get killed on the field, and commanded others, including Jonathan, to kill David. Saul's daughter Michal married David and helped David escape from their home. David went to Samuel, and Jonathan, and Ahimelech the priest, and King Achish, ruler of Gath, Goliath's hometown. When David was staying in a cave, approximately 400 men in emotional and financial distress joined David. As David and his men went to Mizpah, a Moabite city, and dropped off David's parents, and through the forest in Hareth, and to Keilah, a city in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Judah, approximately 200 more men joined David, including Israelites from the tribe of Gad, descendants of Jacob and maidservant Zilpah. However, when men from the tribe of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin, the tribe that bordered Judah's land, arrived in the region, David sought an answer. After Jonathan and his brothers Abinadab and Malchishua were killed by the Philistines, and Saul's self-inflicted death on the same battlefield, men from the tribe of Judah anointed David, and 30-year-old David began to reign  only over the tribe of Judah. Saul's son Ishbosheth (Eshbaal) reigned over the other Israelite tribes. Sometime after Ishbosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders went to David and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed David, and 37-year-old David became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. Over 900 years after Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites, and 70-year-old David died, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:12-23, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 15:1-63, 18:11-28, 23:1-24;33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings 1:1-11:43, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, 2 Chronicles 1:1-9:31, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
