And there was a young man out of Beth-lehem-judah of the family of Judah, who was a Levite, and he sojourned there. And the man departed out of the city from Beth-lehem-judah to sojourn where he could find a place: and he came to mount Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he journeyed. And Micah said unto him, Whence comest thou? And he said unto him, I am a Levite of Beth-lehem-judah, and I go to sojourn where I may find a place. And Micah said unto him, Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten shekels of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals. So the Levite went in. And the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was unto him as one of his sons.-Judges 17:7-11***Micah was an Israelite descended from Abraham  (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). Micah and his family lived in the Promised Land when the Israelites were being led by their own minds, before the rulership of Israelite kings  began. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Micah stole and returned 1,100 shekels of silver, and Micah's mother used some of the recovered silver to have a graven image and an idol made. Moreover, Micah had idols and a religious vestment made and appointed his son to serve as priest. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were Israelites from the tribe of Levi, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, they led the Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God. In the desert wilderness of Sinai, Moses was upon Mount Sinai with the Lord God for 40 days and nights. The Lord God told Moses that only Aaron and Aaron's sons and the sons born to their descendants were to serve the Lord God as priests. During the 40-year journey to the Promised Land, Miriam died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron died and was buried. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, was from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. And they turned thitherward, and came to the house of the young man the Levite, even unto the house of Micah, and saluted him. And the six hundred men appointed with their weapons of war, which were of the children of Dan, stood by the entering of the gate. And the five men that went to spy out the land went up, and came in thither, and took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: and the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred men that were appointed with weapons of war. And these went into Micah's house, and fetched the carved image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image. Then said the priest unto them, What do ye? And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel? And the priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod, and the teraphim, and the graven image, and went in the midst of the people.-Judges 18:15-20***A wandering Israelite from the tribe of Levi stopped at the home of Micah while on a journey from Bethlehem. Micah had a religious garment and idols, and Micah's son performed religious duties. Micah invited the Levite traveler to live with him and serve as his spiritual father and priest in exchange for room, board and silver. Thus, the Levite was living in Micah's home and was noticed the 1st time 5 Israelites from the tribe of Dan passed by Micah's house. The Danites, the Israelites in the tribe of Dan, descended from Jacob and maidservant Bilhah, and Jacob and Bilhah's firstborn son Dan. When the 5 Danites returned with their fellow tribesmen to steal the artifacts previously spotted, they spoke to the Levite. Samuel the priest and prophet from the tribe of Levi was the last judge who worshiped the Lord God and led the Israelites to obey the Lord God. Over 1,000 years after Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin, became the 1st king to reign over the Israelites in the Promised Land, and Samuel died, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God,  was born.
