...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the Holy Scriptures have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Not at All

From a letter written by Peter (Simon)
to believers dispersed throughout Asia Minor:

Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward. For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.-1 Peter 2:18-25***Simon Peter was an Israelite and 1 of the 12 disciples and apostles of Jesus the Christ, the Son of God. After Jesus was betrayed,  arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people (including Simon Peter), and returned to heaven, Simon Peter became a leader among those who believed Jesus to be the Christ. Simon Peter stated the need to add another apostle to the group, and Simon Peter addressed the curious crowd on the day of Pentecost. Simon Peter spoke truthful words to Ananias and Sapphira before their deaths, and received the revelation that the good news of Christ Jesus was to be shared with Gentiles, people not not born into the Israelite tribes. Simon Peter journeyed to teach the good news of Jesus the Christ, and was beaten, and imprisoned, and wrote divinely letters to believers. The apostle Paul (Saul) was an Israelite from the tribe of Benjamin. After Paul was baptized, Paul journeyed to teach the good news of Jesus the Christ, and was beaten and imprisoned, and wrote divinely inspired letters to believers. The apostle Paul wrote that slaves and bondservants were always to obey the orders given by their masters and perform all tasks as if performing them for the Lord. Peter's message to slaves and bondservants was similar to Paul's and included an explanation of some of the suffering endured by Jesus the Christ.-Genesis 11:26-35:29, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 8:1-40, 9:35-44, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon, 1 Peter, 2 Peter

Them, too

Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, To all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace. For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ. And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ unto the glory and praise of God.-Philippians 1:1-11***The divinely inspired words written by the apostle Paul (Saul) to Timothy (Timotheus) reveal that bishops and those who want to become bishops must be men whose lives exist of specific characteristics. Bishops and potential bishops must be irreproachable, married men who have been living a life in Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, for a while and whose words and actions are taken seriously by people in and out of their home. Bishops and potential bishops must be sober, orderly, hospitable, instructive, peaceable, of a sound mind, and never avaricious. Paul wrote that deacons must be truthful, reverential, and sober, respected by their family, and cannot have a heart set on ill-gotten gains. In a letter sent by Paul, with Timothy, to believers in Philippi, bishops and deacons were especially noted in the address.-Genesis 11:26-35:29, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 6:1-8:4, 9:1-31, 11:19-28:31, Philippians, 1 Timothy

From This and This to That

The words spoken by Moses to his fellow Israelites,
and the actions of King Solomon, the third king to
reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land:

FROM THIS:

These are the statutes and judgments which ye shall observe to do in the land, which the LORD God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth. Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree: And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place. Ye shall not do so unto the LORD your God. But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come: And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of you hand, and your vows, and you freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks: And there ye shall eat before the LORD your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the LORD thy God hath blessed thee. Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.-Deuteronomy 12:1-8

and THIS:

Thus Solomon finished the house of the LORD, and the king's house: and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of the LORD, and in his own house, he prosperously effected. And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice. If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually. And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and shalt observe my statutes and my judgments; Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel. But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them; Then will I pluck them up by the roots of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations. And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and unto this house? And it shall be answered, because they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them.-2 Chronicles 7:11-22

TO THAT:

But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites; Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love. And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart. For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father. For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father. Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon. And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods. And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice, And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded. Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant. Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son. Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.-1 Kings 11:1-13

Like Father, Like Son

King Jehoshaphat

And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel. Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi. And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places. And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel. Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he shewed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
-1 Kings 22:41-45

    *********************************************

King Jotham

In the second year of Pekah the son of Remaliah king of Israel began Jotham the son of Uzziah king of Judah to reign. Five and twenty years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jerusha, the daughter of Zadok. And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD: he did according to all that his father Uzziah had done. Howbeit the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and burned incense still in the high places. He built the higher gate of the house of the LORD. Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the king of Judah?-2 Kings 15:32-36

Reference Information:
When the Israelites first began living upon the Promised Land, they lived as a united nation. However, the Israelites from the tribe of Reuben and the tribe of Gad and 1/2 of the Israelites from the tribe of Manasseh lived on the other side of the Jordan River, according to their own request. Saul was from the tribe of Benjamin, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and Rachel, and Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. Saul became the 1st king to reign over the Israelites in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants.
Saul disobeyed the commands of the Lord God. During Saul's reign, the Lord God sent Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge from the tribe of Levi, to anoint David to reign as king. David was from the tribe of Judah, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. Levi was Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son. After Saul's self-inflicted death on the battlefield, the Israelites began living under 2 separate kings. David reigned only over the tribe of Judah. The other Israelite tribes were under the kingship of Saul's son Ishbosheth (Eshbaal). After Ishbosheth was murderedthe Israelite elders journeyed to David and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed David, and David became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. During David's reign, there was a split when Absalom, the son born to David and Maacah, had himself proclaimed king. A minor disruption occurred when some Israelites followed the words spoken by Sheba, from the tribe of Benjamin. A potential split was about to occur before Solomon, the 2nd son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to reign over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south and consisted of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin. Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation and it consisted of the other Israelite tribes. Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam was the 1st king to reign. Murderers and idolaters continuously ruled the northern nation of Israel. King Pekah was the 18th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. During Pekah's reign, the Assyrians invaded the kingdom and King Tiglath-pileser, ruler of Assyria, began taking Israelites to Assyria. During the reign of King Hoshea, the 19th king to rule the northern nation, the Assyrians conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. In Judah, only Rehoboam's grandson King Asa, and Asa's son King Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat's great-great-great-grandson King  Uzziah (Azariah), and Uzziah's son King Jotham, and Jotham's grandson King Hezekiah, and Hezekiah's great-grandson King Josiah  worshiped the Lord God and never worshiped idols. Asa and Uzziah were the only kings with a son and successor who also only worshiped the Lord God. Many of the high places, however, the constructed places raised by some for the worship of the Lord God and raised by others for idol worship, remained throughout the reigns of Asa, Jehoshaphat, Uzziah, and Jotham. Josiah's son Jehoiakim (Eliakim) was the 17th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiakim's reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. During the reign of Jehoiakim's son King Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah) the 18th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin and his family, to Babylon. During the reign of Josiah's son King Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the 19th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Before Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, and after Jesus was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrectedseen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven less than 33 1/2 years after he was born, the Roman Empire was ruling the land whereupon the kingdoms of the Israelites previously stood.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Leviticus 26:1-46, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Walk This Way

From a letter written by the apostle Paul
to believers in Ephesus and everywhere:

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men; Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is their respect of persons with him.-Ephesians 6:1-9***Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Judah was the 4th son born to Jacob (Israel) and his 1st wife Leah. Aaron and his brother Moses were descended from Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. Aaron and Moses lived when the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, they led the Israelites away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God. Months thereafter, in the desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai, the Lord God gave Moses commands for preparations that were to be made before the Lord God descended upon Mount Sinai. After obeying the consecration commands, the Israelites heard the voice of the Lord God proclaim the Ten Commandments to them. The commandment to honor one's parents was the 5th commandment that the Lord God proclaimed. Over 1400 years after Joshua, Moses' successor, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, Jesus the Christ was born to Joseph and Mary. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist. The Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus, and the Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. For 40 days Jesus fasted and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and Jesus went to Galilee. Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by many people, and returned to heaven. The apostle Paul (Saul) was from the tribe of Benjamin, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. In a divinely inspired message Paul sent to those in Ephesus who believed Jesus to be the Christ, Paul made a reference to the commandment and the promise attached.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Deuteronomy 4:1-5:33, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12,Joshua 1:1-4:24, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 6:1-81, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 6:1-8:4, 9:1-31, 11:19-28:31, Romans 11:1-36, 2 Corinthians 11:1-33, Ephesians, Philippians 3:1-21

FYI - For Your Information

The tribe of Benjamin in the Promised Land:

Now the cities of the tribe of the children of Benjamin according to their families were Jericho, and Beth-hoglah, and the valley of Keziz, And Beth-arabah, and Zemaraim, and Beth-el, and Avim, and Parah, and Ophrah, and Chephar-haammonai, and Ophni, and Gaba; twelve cities with their villages: Gibeon, and Ramah, and Beeroth, and Mizpeh, and Chephirah, and Mozah, and Rekem, and Irpeel, and Taralah, and Zelah, Eleph, and Jebusi, which is Jerusalem, Gibeath, and Kirjath; fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the children of Benjamin according to their families
.
-Joshua 18:21-28***The Israelites are the descendants of Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his wives Leah and Rachel and maidservants Bilhah and Zilpah, and the 12 sons born to Jacob, his wives and maidservants. The tribe of Jacob and Rachel's firstborn son Joseph became 2 tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim, after Jacob proclaimed Joseph's sons Manasseh and Ephraim to be his own sons. Canaan was a land of milk and honey inhabited by idol worshipers. The Lord God promised to give Canaan to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Sometime after Jacob died in Egypt and was buried in Canaan, and Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Aaron and his brother Moses were born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, they led the Israelites away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness, according to the commands of the Lord God. During the 40th year of their journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Aaron died and was buried upon Mount Hor. Shortly thereafter, the Lord God told Moses that Eleazar the priest and Joshua, Moses' successor, were to assign portions of the Promised Land to each tribe, and they were to chose a leader from each tribe to assist them. Larger tribes were to be given larger land portions and smaller tribes were to be given smaller portions, and the location of each tribe's land was to be determined by the casting of lots. After 120-year-old Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land and Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land. Jericho was the 1st city that the Israelites attacked and defeated in the Promised Land. Jericho was within the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Benjamin. The tribe of Levi, the birth tribe of the priests and their assistants, received no land inheritance, according to the command of the Lord God. The Lord God told the priests and all the Levites that he was their inheritance. Over 1,300 years after Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land,  Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Leviticus 8:1-10:19, Numbers 3:1-4:49, 8:1-26, 18:1-32, 20:1-29,

More Plus More Because of the Lord

And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging: And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant. And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by. And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.-Luke 18:35-43***Jericho was the 1st city the Israelites attacked after Joshua led them across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land. Rahab and her family were not harmed, according to the vow made by the 2 Israelite spies Rahab kept safe when they came to search Jericho. In Jericho, the Israelites thrust a sword through every person and animal and burned the city. The gold, silver, iron, and brass items found in Jericho, and the items stolen by Achan, were not destroyed. Over 300 years after Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, David was born into the tribe of Judah, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai),  Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. Over a decade after David was born, Samuel the priest, prophet and judge anointed David to reign as king, according to the command of the Lord God. When David was 30 years old, he began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. When David was 37 1/2 years old, he  became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. A group of men David sent on a mission were told by David to wait in Jericho. Over 900 years after Solomon, the 2nd son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist. Jesus mentioned Jericho in a message he taught a lawyer regarding neighbors.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-8:35, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings 1:1-11:43, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 7:20-29, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles 1:1-9:31, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

There Was a Whole Lot of Killing Going On

The Destruction of Jericho

And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times. And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city. And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the LORD: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent. And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it. But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the LORD: they shall come into the treasury of the LORD.
So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword. But Joshua had said unto the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlot's house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye sware unto her. And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel. And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein: only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD. And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father's household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
-Joshua 6:15-25***Aaron and his brother Moses were Israelites from the tribe of Levi, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai),  Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. Forty years after Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea and into the desert wilderness,  Aaron died and was buried upon Mount Hor, and Moses went upon Mount Nebo. The Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, was an Israelite from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. For 30 days, Joshua and his fellow Israelites mourned the death of Moses. The Lord God told Joshua to prepare himself and the Israelites to cross the Jordan River and enter the Promised Land. The Lord God told Joshua that he would be with him just as he had been with Moses, and Joshua was to be strong, brave and fearless and follow and meditate on all the commandments of the Lord God. Joshua spoke to the Israelites and sent 2 Israelites on a spying mission. When the spies were at the home of Rahab, the king of Jericho sent messengers with a demand that Rahab bring the spies out of her house. Rahab had hidden the spies on her roof, yet she told the king's messengers that the 2 Israelites had already left. Rahab returned to the roof and spoke to the spies and acknowledged the Lord God of the Israelites to be the God of heaven and earth. Rahab also made the spies swear to spare her life and the lives of her family members. After Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, the Lord God told Joshua that he had given Jericho, its king and army into Joshua's hands. The Lord God told Joshua to march, with his armed warriors, around Jericho once a day for 6 days. Seven priests, each blowing a specific trumpet, were to march in front of the ark of the covenant of the Lord as the ark was carried by priests. On the 7th and final day, Joshua and the warriors were to march around Jericho 7 times while the priests blew the trumpets. After the priests made a loud, singular trumpet sound, the Israelites were to shout and the wall around Jericho would fall, allowing the Israelites to invade the city. Over 1,300 years after Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, including the Israelites in Jericho and its surrounding area.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-8:35, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, Hebrews 11:1-40, James 2:1-26
