King Asa

So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years. And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God: For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves: And commanded Judah to seek the LORD God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment. Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him. And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest. Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.-2 Chronicles 14:1-7***Asa was the great-great-grandson of King David and Bathsheba.  David was the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land. Solomon, the 2nd son born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to reign. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to reign over all of the Israelites in the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam was the 1st king to reign. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Asa was the 3rd king to rule Judah. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that David was a man after God's own heart. Before Asa became known as the king who died after being afflicted with diseased feet, Asa was known as the king who worshiped and obeyed the commands of the Lord God. Asa rid the kingdom of idols and male prostitutes and told Maacah, his idol worshiping grandmother, to step down from her royal role as queen mother. Asa commanded that the Israelites throughout Judah turn to the Lord God, and Asa's reign was noted for its peacefulness and prosperity. Asa looked to the Lord God when enemy nations threatened to attack, and Asa recognized that it was the Lord God who struck down Judah's enemies. However, when the northern nation of Israel came to fight, Asa turned to King Ben-hadad, ruler of Syria (Aram), for help instead of turning to the Lord God. Afterwards, Hanani the prophet told Asa that there would be war throughout the rest of Asa's reign. Over 800 years after Jehoshaphat, the son born to Asa and Azubah, became the 4th king to rule Judah, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born.
