King Amaziah

Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them. Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thine hand? And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said unto him, Art thou made of the king's counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.-2 Chronicles 25:14-16***King Amaziah was the 8th king to rule Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land. Amaziah and his fellow Israelites descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). The Edomites  descended from Isaac and Rebekah's oldest fraternal twin son Esau (Edom). The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that the Edomites worshiped idols. The Israelites are the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. In Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai, the Lord God made a covenant with the Israelites. After Amaziah defeated the Edomites in Seir, Amaziah brought idols to Jerusalem, the royal city. Amaziah's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather King David was the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites. During the 4th year of Solomon's 40-year reign, his workers began building the temple of the Lord. In the 11th year of Solomon's reign, his workers finished building the temple. During the latter portion of Solomon's reign, Solomon became an idolater. Amaziah's great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Jehoiakim (Eliakim) was the 17th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiakim's 11-year reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the son born to Jehoiakim and Nehushta, was the 18th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiachin's 3-month reign, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin, his wives and mother, to Babylon. During the 11th year of the reign of Jehoiakim's brother King Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the 19th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 125 years before Jerusalem was conquered, the Assyrians invaded the northern nation of Israel in the Promised Land and conquered the royal city, Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born.
