...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Holy Scriptures have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

All in Together

Then all Israel gathered themselves to David unto Hebron, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh. And moreover in time past, even when Saul was king, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD thy God said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be ruler over my people Israel. Therefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD by Samuel. And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land. And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come hither. Nevertheless David took the castle of Zion, which is the city of David. And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief. And David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of David. And he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and Joab repaired the rest of the city. So David waxed greater and greater: for the LORD of hosts was with him.-1 Chronicles 11:1-9***The Jebusites were the descendants of Canaan, and Canaan was the son of Ham, and Ham was born to Noah the ark builder. The Israelites were descended from Noah's son Shem, Shem's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), their son Isaac and his wife and Rebekah, Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel) and his wives Leah and Rachel and maidservants Bilhah and Zilpah, and the 12 sons born to Jacob, his wives and maidservants. The Lord God promised to give Canaan, land occupied by the Jebusites and other idolatrous inhabitants, to  Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Joshua was an Israelite from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Jacob and Rachel's firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Over 500 years after the Lord God spoke the promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land. Over 300 years after Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the land, Saul became the 1st king to reign over the Israelites in the Promised Land. However, Saul did not obey the commands of the Lord God. Thus, the Lord God sent Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge, to anoint David to reign as king. Saul was from the tribe of Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. Samuel was from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi, and David was from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. After Saul's self-inflicted death on the battlefield, David reigned only over the tribe of Judah. Saul's son Ish-bosheth (Esh-baal) reigned over the other Israelite tribes. After Ish-bosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders spoke to David and anointed him to reign over all of the tribes. David's nephew Joab, the son of David's sister Zeruiah, was triumphant against a group of Jebusites still living in the region. Over 900 years after Solomon, the 2nd son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis, Exodus, Numbers 13:1-14:45, 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 7:1-26, 20:1-20, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-12:24, 15:1-63, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-3:31, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings 1:1-11:43, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 7:6-29, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, 2 Chronicles 1:1-9:31, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
