...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Holy Scriptures have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

If - Then

And the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath blessed me hitherto? And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee. And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Beth-shean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel. And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only: but the mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.-Joshua 17:14-18***Over 400 years before Joshua was born into the Israelite tribe of Ephraim, the Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaim (Rephaites), Amorites, Canaanites, Jebusites, Hivites, and other idolaters were living throughout Canaan, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. The descendants are the family tribes of the 12 sons, Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph, and Benjamin, born to Jacob and his wives Leah and Rachel and maidservants Bilhah and Zilpah. The tribes also include the families of Joseph's sons Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own sons. After Jacob died in Egypt and was buried in Canaan, and after Joseph and his brothers were dead, generations of Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Moses and his brother Aaron were born into the tribe of Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, they led the Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, and across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness, towards the Promised Land. Joshua was an aide to Moses. Moreover, Joshua was a top warrior among the Israelites. Joshua, Caleb and the 10 spies with them went to the Promised Land and saw gigantic Anakim inhabitants. During another part of the journey, the Israelites defeated gigantic King Og, the ruler whose iron furniture was at least 13 feet long by 6 feet wide. In the 40th year of the journey, Aaron died and was buried upon Mount Hor, and Moses went upon Mount Nebo. The Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land. Sometime thereafter, Joshua, and Aaron's son Eleazar the priest, and 12 Israelite leaders began allotting each Israelite tribe their portion of land. Caleb was given Kirjath-arba (Hebron), a city inhabited by Anakim. Joshua steered some Israelites in the tribes of Manasseh and Ephraim towards additional land inhabited by giants. Over 1,300 years after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribes portion of the Promised Land, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis, Exodus, Numbers 13:1-14:45, 20:1-29, 27:12-23, 32:1-34:29, Deuteronomy 1:1-4:49, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
