...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Holy Scriptures have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Unmistaken Identification

From a letter written by the apostle Paul,
with Sosthenes,
to believers in Corinth and everywhere:

Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; and were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; and did all eat the same spiritual meat; and did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and thy are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.-1 Corinthians 10:1-11***The fathers mentioned in a divinely inspired letter the apostle Paul (Saul) sent to believers in Corinth were Israelites, the descendants of Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his wives Leah and Rachel and maidservants Bilhah and Zilpah, and the 12 sons born to Jacob, his wives and maidservants. Paul's message revealed information regarding the Israelite ancestors, including Moses. Over 1,400 years before Paul was born, Moses and Moses' older brother Aaron led their fellow Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, according to the commands of the Lord God. The Israelites followed Moses as he followed the Lord God, led by a pillar of the cloud of the Lord by day and in a pillar of fire by night. At the Red Sea, the Lord God proclaimed commands to Moses. As Moses obeyed, the Lord God made it possible for the Israelites, and those with them, to walk across after the sea was divinely parted. The Egyptians and their horses drowned. The Israelites ate manna, bread from heaven, every day for 40 years. During at least 2 separate instances the Israelites drank water that flowed out of a rock. Many Israelites who were idolatrous, murmurous or rebellious were put to death, including approximately 3,000 killed amid the golden calf incident, 2 of Aaron's sons, 10 spies, and a Sabbath day stick gatherer, and Korah and his allies, others who received deadly bites from fiery serpents, and more than 20,000 who engaged in physical and idolatrous intimacies with idol worshiping Moabites. Aaron and Miriam, the older sister of Aaron and Moses, murmured some words about Moses. None of the siblings went to Canaan, the Promised Land. Miriam died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. When Aaron was 123-year-old, he died and was buried upon Mount Hor. Shortly thereafter, 120-year-old Moses went upon Mount Nebo. The Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Over 1,300 years after Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist. The Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus, and the Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. For 40 days Jesus fasted and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and Jesus went to Galilee. Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites. In Judea, in the presence of Jesus the Christ, the disciples of Jesus the Christ baptized many people. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, and returned to heaven. Paul did not believe Jesus to be the Christ. Moreover, Paul persecuted and imprisoned any Israelites who called upon the name of Jesus. When Paul was journeying to the synagogues in Damascus in Syria to find, bind and take to Jerusalem any Israelites believers he found, Paul and those with him saw a light from heaven flash around them. Paul heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him. Paul spoke to Jesus, and obeyed Jesus, and in Damascus Paul was baptized. From thenceforward, Paul the apostle journeyed and wrote divinely inspired letters, teaching Israelites and Gentiles, people not born into the Israelite tribes, the good news of Jesus the Christ, and everlasting life.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Leviticus 8:1-10:20, Numbers 13:1-16:50, 20:1-25:18, 27:12-23, 31:1-54, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-5:15, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 6:1-8:4, 9:1-31, 11:19-28:31, Romans, 1 Corinthians 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon
