Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Holy Scriptures have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. I Was Just Playing

And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul's servants. And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick. And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands. And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom? And Saul eyed David from that day and forward. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul's hand, And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.-1 Samuel 18:5-11***After King Saul did not obey the commands of the Lord God, and the Lord God rejected Saul from being king, the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and Saul was beset by an evil spirit sent to him from the Lord God. Meanwhile, David, a young shepherd and musician who was anointed to reign as king, was brought in to play music whenever Saul was troubled by the spirit. David continued tending to the sheep owned by his father Jesse while serving as a musician and an armor-bearer for Saul. After David killed and beheaded Goliath the gigantic Philistine, David stayed in Saul's service full-time as an army officer. Jonathan, Saul's son, made a covenant with David, and the Israelite women sang of David higher than they sang of Saul. Saul was angry. Moreover, Saul became afraid of David, realizing that the Lord God departed from him and the Lord God was with David. Saul wanted to kill David, and wanted David to get killed during battles, and commanded others, including Jonathan, to kill David. Saul's daughter Michal married David and helped David escape from their home. After Jonathan and his brothers Abinadab and Malchishua were killed by the Philistines, and Saul's self-inflicted death on the same battlefield, men from the tribe of Judah anointed David, and 30-year-old David began to reign only over the tribe of Judah, the tribe of his birth. Saul's son Ishbosheth (Eshbaal) reigned over the other Israelite tribes. After Ishbosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders went to David, and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed David, and 37 1/2-year-old David became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land. Over 900 years after Solomon, the 2nd son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings 1:1-11:43, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, 2 Chronicles 1:1-9:31, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

And there was war again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and slew them with a great slaughter; and they fled from him. And the evil spirit from the LORD was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand. And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin; but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.-1 Samuel 19:8-10***Joshua was from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Samuel the priest, prophet and judge was from the tribe of Levi, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. Saul was from the tribe of Benjamin, descended from Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. David was from the tribe of Judah  descended from Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. Over 300 years after Joshua led his fellow Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, the Israelite elders demanded that Samuel appoint a king to lead them. Samuel was elderly, his sons Joel (Vashni) and Abiah (Abijah) were not obeying the commands of the Lord God, and King Nahash and his fellow Ammonites were preparing to attack. Samuel was not pleased with their request. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Samuel prayed to the Lord God, and proclaimed the words of the Lord God to the Israelites, and anointed Saul to reign as king, according to the command of the Lord God. Saul disobeyed the commands of the Lord God. While Saul reigned, the Lord God sent Samuel to anoint David to reign as king.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings 1:1-2:12, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Merely and Very Sincerely

Then came the Feast of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was in the temple area walking in Solomon's Colonnade. The Jews gathered around him, saying, "How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly." Jesus answered, "I did tell you, but you do not believe. The miracles I do in my Father's name speak for me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are one." Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus said to them, "I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?" We are not stoning you for any of these," replied the Jews, "but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God."-John 10:22-33(NIV)***In Cana in Galilee, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, turned water into wine at a wedding feast and Jesus spoke words of healing for a royal official's ill son. In Jerusalem, at BethesdaJesus healed a man who had been unable to walk for 38 years. After crossing the Sea of Galilee (Tiberias), Jesus performed a miracle of provision, feeding over 5,000 people from 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. Afterwards, Jesus walked upon the body of water that his disciples were crossing by boat. Sometime earlier in Jerusalem, in Judea, the Israelites attempted to stone Jesus after Jesus told them that he existed before the birth of Abraham (Abram the Hebrew). Abraham was an ancestor of the Israelites and lived over 1,900 years before Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and born into the tribe of Abraham's great-grandson Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. During the time of the Feast of Dedication (Hanukkah), some Israelites sought to stone Jesus again.-Genesis 11:26-35:29, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

From the Epistle of James,
in the New Testament of the Holy Bible:

My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it - he will be blessed in what he does.-James 1:22-25(NIV) ***Two disciples and apostles of Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, were named James. One of the disciples and apostles named James was the brother of John, and the son of Zebedee, and was killed at the command of King Herod Agrippa I. The other disciple and apostle named James was the son of Alphaeus. One of the children who lived in the household in Nazareth, in Galilee, with Jesus and Joseph and Mary was named James. James the Less (Little) was the brother of Joses and the son of a different woman named Mary. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Levi. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men, including Zebedee's sons James and John, to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven. The Epistle of James in the Holy Bible is widely regarded to have been written by the James who lived in the family household in Nazareth in Galilee.-Genesis 11:26-35:29, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-12:25, 15:1-41, 21:1-40, 1 Corinthians 15:1-58, Galatians 1:1-2:21, James, Jude

Offerings Without the Beg and Plead

The offerings given by the Israelites
for the tabernacle and sacred items:

And all the congregation of the children of Israel departed from the presence of Moses. And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the LORD's offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments. And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing hearted, and brought bracelets, and earrings, and rings, and tablets, all jewels of gold: and every man that offered offered an offering of gold unto the LORD. And every man, with whom was found blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goat's hair, and red skins of rams, and badgers skins, brought them. Every one that did offer an offering of silver and brass brought the LORD's offering: and every man, with whom was found shittim wood for any work of the service, brought it. And all the women that were wise hearted did spin with their hands, and brought that which they had spun, both of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine linen. And all the women whose heart stirred them up in wisdom spun goats' hair. And the rulers brought onyx stones, and stones to be set, for the ephod, and for the breastplate; And spice, and oil for the light, and for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense. The children of Israel brought a willing offering unto the LORD, every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work, which the LORD had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses.
-Exodus 35:20-29***In the desert wilderness of Sinai, months after Moses and his older brother Aaron led their fellow Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, Moses was upon Mount Sinai with the Lord God for 40 days and nights. The Lord God described to Moses and showed Moses the pattern for making the tabernacle, the transportable tent wherein the Lord God would meet with the Israelites and speak to Moses face to face. The Lord God gave Moses commands for making the ark of the covenant of the Lord, the table for the showbread, the Lampstand, the altar of burnt offering, the altar of incense, the courtyard, the garments and items for the priests, the brass (copper/bronze) basin, the anointing oil, the oil for the Lampstand, and the holy incense. The Lord God told Moses to accept freely given offerings of gold, silver, bronze, yarn, fine linen, goat hair, ram skins, badger skins, acacia wood, olive oil, myrrh, cinnamon, calamus, cassia, stacte, onycha, galbanum, and frankincense, and ruby, topaz, beryl, turquoise, sapphire, emerald, jacinth, agate, amethyst, chrysolite, onyx, and jasper stones, items the Israelites carried with them out of Egypt. The Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God, brought offerings in such abundance that Moses told the Israelites not to make any more work for the offering. During the 40th year of their journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Aaron died and was buried upon Mount Hor, and Moses went upon Mount Nebo. The Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor,  led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. Over 1,300 years after Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. In Galilee, Judea, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites. In Jerusalem, Judea, Jesus spoke to his disciples about the coins offered by a widow.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 9:1-10:22, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Two Sons

Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.-2 Kings 4:1-2***
Elijah the prophet, and Elisha the prophet, and the sons of the prophets were Israelites, descendants of Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). The sons of the prophets were banded together in Gilgal, Bethel and Jericho to prophesy, and to praise and worship the Lord God. Elijah and Elisha spent time with the prophets in Bethel and Jericho before Elijah went up into heaven by a whirlwind. Sometime thereafter, a widow spoke to Elisha of her family's financial situation. Over 750 years after Elisha died, and his body was buried, and a dead man was revived after being tossed onto Elisha's bones, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. The Words of
Jesus the Christ,
the Son of God:

But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard. He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went. And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.-Matthew 21:28-32***Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Months before Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, John the Baptist was born to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and Elizabeth (Elisabeth), an elderly, formerly childless married couple from the tribe of Levi. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, John the Baptist baptized Jesus in the Jordan River. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. Out by His Clout

And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch. And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them. And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.) Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them. There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one. Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation, And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison. But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors and brought them forth and said, Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.-Acts 5:12-20***During the 12th year after  Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin, Jesus was in the temple in Jerusalem listening, questioning, understanding, and answering. Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison. And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord; and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him. And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.-Acts 12:1-11***Simon Peter was an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). Simon Peter journeyed and wrote at least 2 divinely inspired letters, teaching Israelites and Gentiles, people not born into the Israelite tribes, the history of the Israelites (Hebrews/Jews), the relationship of the Israelites to the Lord God and Jesus, the need for repentance, forgiveness and faith, the need to be baptized in the name of Jesus, and the need to have knowledge of Jesus the Christ.-Genesis 11:26-35:29, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, 1 Peter, 2 Peter

You Rang

And the angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak. And when Balak heard that Balaam was come, he went out to meet him unto a city of Moab, which is in the border of Arnon, which is in the utmost coast. And Balak said unto Balaam, Did I not earnestly send unto thee to call thee? wherefore camest thou not unto me? am I not able indeed to promote thee to honour? And Balaam said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto thee: have I now any power at all to say any thing? the word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak.-Numbers 22:35-38***The Amalekites were the 1st enemies to get beaten by the Israelites after Moses and Moses' older brother Aaron led the Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur. In Rephidim, the Amalekites came to fight the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that the Lord God delivered the Amalekites into the hands of the Israelites. Another time, the Amalekites and Canaanites defeated a group of Israelites who arrived to attack despite a warning from Moses and without permission from the Lord God. Decades thereafter, when the Edomites gathered for a battle, the Israelites obeyed the command of the Lord God and went away rather than fight the Edomites. King Arad and his fellow Canaanites fought the Israelites, won and took captives. Meanwhile, the Israelites proclaimed a vow to the Lord God, and the Lord God allowed the Israelites to defeat Arad and the Canaanites. Moreover, the Israelites defeated King Sihon and the Amorites. When the Israelites neared the land ruled by King Balak, Balak knew about the victories of the Israelites and sent for Balaam, a known seer. The Canaanites and Amorites were descendants of Canaan, and Canaan was born to Ham, and Ham was born to Noah the ark builder. The Israelites descended from Noah's son Shem, and Shem's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren  Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), their son Isaac and his wife Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). The Edomites descended from Jacob's older fraternal twin brother Esau (Edom). A group of Amalekites descended from Esau's son Eliphaz and Eliphaz's concubine Timna. Other Amalekites existed earlier. Balak was a Moabite descended from Abraham and Sarah's nephew Lot and Lot's oldest daughter, and the son, Moab, born to Lot and his daughter. During the 40th year of the journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, 123-year-old Aaron died upon Mount Hor. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Over 1,300 years after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. So Absalom dwelt two full years in Jerusalem, and saw not the king's face. Therefore Absalom sent for Joab, to have sent him to the king; but he would not come to him: and when he sent again the second time, he would not come. Therefore he said unto his servants, See, Joab's field is near mine, and he hath barley there; go and set it on fire. And Absalom's servants set the field on fire. Then Joab arose, and came to Absalom unto his house, and said unto him, Wherefore have thy servants set my field on fire? And Absalom answered Joab, Behold, I sent unto thee, saying, Come hither, that I may send thee to the king, to say, Wherefore am I come from Geshur? it had been good for me to have been there still: now therefore let me see the king's face; and if there  be any iniquity in me, let him kill me.-2 Samuel 14:28-32***King David was the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land. Amnon was born to David and Ahinoam. Absalom and Tamar were born to David and Maacah, an Aramean (Syrian) princess. Joab was David's nephew and commander of the army. Two years after Amnon raped Tamar, Absalom caused Amnon's death and immediately ran to Geshur, Aram, the kingdom ruled by his grandfather King Talmai. Three years after Absalom began living in Geshur, Joab initiated events that led to him bringing Absalom home. Two years after Absalom returned, Absalom wanted Joab's help again. Over 900 years after Absalom had himself proclaimed king while David still reigned, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah, the  tribe of David and his descendants, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings 1:1-2:12, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 10:1-29:30, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
