David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah. And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither. Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David. And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are hated of David's soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house. So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward. And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him. And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house. And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel's sake. And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David. And these be the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon, Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia, and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.-2 Samuel 5:4-16***When the Lord God promised to give Canaan to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) Abraham's descendants and Abraham, the Jebusites and other idol worshiping inhabitants were living throughout the land. When Abraham was 86 years old, Ishmael was born to Abraham and Hagar, the maidservant of Abraham's wife Sarah (Sarai). When Abraham was 100 years old, Isaac was born to Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. When Sarah was 127 years old, she died. Abraham buried Sarah's body in a cave in Hebron (Kirjath-arba) in Canaan. When Isaac was 40 years old, he married Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. When Abraham was 175 years old, he died. Isaac and Ishmael buried Abraham's body in the cave wherein the body of Sarah was buried. When Isaac was 60 years old, fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to Isaac and Rebekah. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that after Rebekah died, Isaac buried her body in the cave in Hebron, and after Jacob's 1st wife Leah died, Jacob buried Leah's body in the same cave. When Isaac was 180 years old, he died, and Esau and Jacob buried Isaac's body in the cave in Hebron. When Jacob was 130 years old, he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt, and lived the next 17 years near Joseph. In Egypt, Joseph, the 1st son born to Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, had become second-in-command. When Jacob was 147 years old, he died in Egypt and his body was buried in the cave in Hebron. Sometime after Joseph and his siblings died, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, they led the Israelites away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron died and was buried. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, was from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. After 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, the Israelites were not able to completely expel the Jebusites and other idolaters from the land. David was from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. Over a decade after David was born, Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge from the tribe of Levi, anointed David to reign as king, according to the command of the Lord God. When David was 30 years old, he began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. When David was 37 years old, he became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. When David proclaimed a challenge to his warriors, Joab, the son of David's sister Zeruiah, led the victory and became commander of the army. Over 900 years after Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born.
