Now You Know

From a letter written by the apostle Paul,
with Timotheus,

 to believers in Philippi:

Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you. All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of Caesar's household. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.-Philippians 4:15-23***Paul (Saul) the Pharisee, tentmaker and Roman citizen was an Israelite from the tribe of Benjamin, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. Benjamin's older brother Levi was the 3rd son born to Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Judah was Jacob and Leah's 4th born son. Levi and Judah were born in Padan-aram, Haran, in northern Mesopotamia. Benjamin was born near Bethlehem, in Canaan. Over 1,900 years after Judah, Levi, Benjamin and their siblings were born, Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born in Bethlehem into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Levi. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot, the disciple and apostle, and Jesus was arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, and returned to heaven. Sometime thereafter, Paul was journeying to the synagogues in Damascus, Syria, to find, bind and take to Jerusalem any Israelites he found who believed Jesus to be the Christ. Paul was temporarily blinded during the journey after a light from heaven flashed around him and his group. Paul heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him, and Paul spoke to Jesus, and obeyed Jesus. In Damascus, Paul was baptized. From thenceforward, Paul the apostle journeyed and wrote divinely inspired letters, teaching the good news of Jesus the Christ and everlasting life to Israelites and Gentiles, people not born into the Israelite tribes. In Lystra, a Roman province in Lycaonia in Asia Minor, Paul met Timothy (Timotheus), and in Philippi in Macedonia, Paul and his companions were welcomed into the home of Lydia. Lydia accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior after hearing Paul speak. Shortly thereafter, Paul and Silas (Silvanus) were beaten and imprisoned in Philippi on the orders of the city's civil authorities. In Thessalonica, believers secretly rushed Paul and Silas out of the city to keep Paul and Silas from being harmed. The Holy Bible contains 2 letters written by Paul, with Silas and Timothy, to believers in Thessalonica. Epaphroditus was living in Philippi. The believer in Philippi sent Epaphroditus to Rome with a care package for Paul, who was confined under guard in Rome. Caesar was the title for the Roman emperor.
