And they ministered before the dwelling place of the tabernacle of the congregation with singing, until Solomon had built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem: and then they waited on their office according to their order. And these are they that waited with their children. Of the sons of the Kohathites: Heman a singer, the son of Joel, the son of Shemuel, the son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliel, the son of Toah, the son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai, the son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah, the son of Tahath, the son of Assir, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.
And his brother Asaph, who stood on his right hand, even Asaph the son of Berachiah, the son of Shimea, the son of Michael, the son of Baaseiah, the son of Malchiah, the son of Ethni, the son of Zerah, the son of Adaiah, the son of Ethan, the son of Zimmah, the son of Shimei, the son of Jahath, the son of Gershom, the son of Levi.-1 Chronicles 6:16-43***Levi was the 3rd son born to Jacob (Israel) and his 1st wife Leah. Jacob was the youngest fraternal twin son born to Isaac and Rebekah. Isaac was the only child born to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai). Gershom, Kohath and Merari were born to Levi. Kohath's son Amram married Kohath's sister Jochebed. Miriam, Aaron and Moses were born to Amram and Jochebed. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, they led the Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God. Months thereafter, in the desert wilderness of Sinai, Moses went upon Mount Sinai and was with the Lord God for 40 days and nights. The Lord God gave Moses commands for the new priesthood. Aaron, and Aaron's sons, and the sons born to their descendants were to be the only Israelites to serve the Lord God as priests. The other males in the tribe of Levi, the Levites, were to assist the priests when they performed their duties at the transportable tabernacle. Joshua, Moses' successor, was from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Over 300 years after Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, David was born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. Over a decade after David was born, the Lord God sent Samuel the priest, prophet and judge to anoint David to reign as king. When David was 30 years old, he began to reign only over the tribe of Judah.  When David was 37 1/2 years old, he became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. David brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord to the City of David and stationed Asaph and others to serve before the tent wherein the ark was placed. Before 70-year-old David died, David scheduled Asaph and Asaph's sons to be among those serving at the temple that was going to be built by Solomon, David's son successor. Solomon was the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, and he was the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites. In Jerusalem, during the 4th year of Solomon's reign, Solomon began building the temple of the Lord. Seven years thereafter, the temple was built, and all of the sacred items were set in their proper places. Sacrifices were made, and Solomon prayed, and Solomon blessed the Israelites, and the priests and Levites began serving at the temple. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to rule over all of the Israelites, After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city, and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city, and Jeroboam was the 1st king to reign. King Pekah was the 18th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israe. During Pekah's reign, the Assyrians invaded the kingdom and King Tiglath-pileser, ruler of Assyria, began taking Israelites to Assyria. During the reign of King Hoshea, the 19th king to rule the northern nation, the Assyrians conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Rehoboam's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Jehoiakim (Eliakim) was the 17th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiakim's reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. During the reign of Jehoiakim's son King Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the 18th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin and his family, to Babylon. During the reign of Jehoiakim's brother King Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the 19th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. The temple and other buildings were looted and burned by the Babylonians. Less than 70 years the destruction, Asaph's descendants returned to Jerusalem and were praising the Lord God at the site of the foundation for the new temple in Jerusalem. Over 500 years after the new temple was built and dedicated, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Months before Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi to Zechariah (Zacharias) and Elizabeth (Elisabeth), Mary's relative. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 3:1-4:49, 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, 9:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
