...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

The Bottom Line

The Words of
Jesus the Christ,
the Son of God:

And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say,
This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet. For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation. The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.-Luke 11:29-36***There was 1 solid gold lampstand in the transportable tabernacle that was built when Moses and his fellow Israelites were in the desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai. The lampstand provided light for the priests. In the temple of the Lord that was built over 400 years later in Jerusalem by King Solomon, the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, there were 10 solid gold lampstands. Solomon's great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Amaziah was the 8th king to rule Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land. Amaziah's son Uzziah (Azariah) was the 9th king to rule Judah. During the reign of Amaziah or Uzziah, the Lord God commanded  Jonah (Jonas) the prophet to proclaim a message to the Ninevites in Assyria. Over 700 years after Jonah went to Nineveh, John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi, the birth tribe of Aaron and Moses, to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife  Elizabeth (Elisabeth). Months after John the Baptist was born, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born into the tribe of Judah, the birth tribe of Solomon and his descendants, all of Judah's kings, to Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin, and her husband Joseph after being conceived of the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb when Mary was a virgin. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that John the Baptist was a burning, shining lamp born to prepare paths for Jesus the Christ. John the Baptist preached a message to prepare people to be ready to receive Jesus.
Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted.  Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Jesus identified himself as the light and said that while he was in the world he was the light of the world. Jesus taught his disciples that they were the light of the world and were to let their light shine, and Jesus taught that a person's light or darkness is visible in the eyes.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 8:1-4, 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
