...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Give Me a Token to Prove That We've Spoken

Tamar and Judah

And it was told Tamar, saying, Behold thy father in law goeth up to Timnath to shear his sheep. And she put her widow's garments off from her, and covered her with a vail, and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place, which is by the way to Timnath; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given unto him to wife. When Judah saw her, he thought her to be an harlot; because she had covered her face. And he turned unto her by the way, and said, Go to, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee; (for he knew not that she was his daughter in law.) And she said, What wilt thou give me, that thou mayest come in unto me? And he said, I will send thee a kid from the flock. And she said, Wilt thou give me a pledge, till thou send it? And he said, What pledge shall I give thee? And she said, Thy signet, and thy bracelets, and thy staff that is in thine hand. And he gave it her, and came in unto her, and she conceived by him

-Genesis 38:13-18***Tamar was married and widowed twice before she became pregnant. Tamar's 1st husband, Er, was the 1st son born to Judah and his wife, a Canaanite woman. Er was wicked and was slain by the Lord God. Onan, the 2nd son born to Judah and his wife, was Tamar's next husband. Onan pulled away from Tamar during marital intimacy to keep from fathering a child born to Er's name. Onan was slain by the Lord God. Shelah was the 3rd son born to Judah and his wife. Judah told Tamar to live at her father's house until Shelah was grown. However, after Tamar was not contacted to marry Shelah, Tamar developed her own plan. Over 1,800 years after twin sons Perez and Zerah (Pharez and Zarah) were born to Judah and Tamar, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Notably, the birth of Perez and Zerah is mentioned in a biblical genealogy of Jesus the Christ.-Genesis 11:26-38:30, Numbers 26:19-22, Deuteronomy 25:5-6,  1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-4:23, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
