...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Ran and Hid Instead of Rid

Abimelech

And Abimelech the son of Jerubbaal went to Shechem unto his mother's brethren, and communed with them, and with all the family of the house of his mother's father, saying, Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of Shechem. Whether is better for you, either that all the sons of Jerubbaal, which are threescore and ten persons, reign over you, or that one reign over you? remember also that I am your bone and your flesh. And his mother's brethren spake of him in the ears of all the men of Shechem all these words: and their hearts inclined to follow Abimelech; for they said, He is our brother. And they gave him threescore and ten pieces of silver out of the house of Baal-berith, wherewith Abimelech hired vain and light persons, which followed him. And he went unto his father's house at Ophrah, and slew his brethren the sons of Jerubbaal, being threescore and ten persons, upon one stone: notwithstanding
yet Jotham the youngest son of Jerubbaal was left; for he hid himself.
-Judges 9:1-5***Abimelech was born to Gideon (Jerubbaal) and a concubine. Gideon was an Israelite from the tribe of Manasseh, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's firstborn son Manasseh, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. The Lord God sent Gideon to lead the Israelites in a fight against the Midianites, the descendants of Abraham and his 2nd wife Keturah, and Abraham and Keturah's son Midian. During the 40 years after Gideon defeated the Midianites, there was peace for Gideon and the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Over 1,100 years after Abimelech's armor-bearer helped cause Abimelech's death, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 26:28-34, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-9:57, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 7:14-19, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

King Jehu

And it came to pass, that when Jehu was executing judgment upon the house of Ahab, and found the princes of Judah, and the sons of the brethren of Ahaziah, he slew them. And he sought Ahaziah: and they caught him, (for he was hid in Samaria,) and brought him to Jehu: and when they had slain him, they buried him: Because, said they, he is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart. So the house of Ahaziah had no power to keep still the kingdom. But when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal of the house of Judah. But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king's sons that were slain, and put him and his nurse in a bedchamber. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of king Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest, (for she was the sister of Ahaziah,) hid him from Athaliah, so that she slew him not. And he was with them hid in the house of God six years: and Athaliah reigned over the land.-2 Chronicles 22:8-12***Ahaziah was born to King Jehoram (Joram) and Athaliah. Jehoram was the 5th king to rule Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land. Ahaziah was the 6th king to rule Judah. After Athaliah learned that Ahaziah was dead, she caused her royal descendants to be killed and she began to rule Judah. King Ahab was the 7th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel in the Promised Land. Ahab was Athaliah's father. Jezebel, a Sidonian (Zidonian) princess, was Ahab's wife. Athaliah knew that Jezebel caused many prophets of the Lord God to be killed, and knew that after Jehoram began to reign, he murdered his brothers and murdered some princes from the northern nation of Israel. Athaliah did not know that Ahaziah's son Joash (Jehoash) was rescued by Ahaziah's sister Jehoshabeath (Jehosheba) and hidden in the priests' quarters in the temple of the Lord. When Joash was 7 years old, he was anointed and became the 7th king to rule Judah. Over 750 years Ahab and Jezebel's son Ahaziah became the 8th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel, and Amaziah, the son born to Joash and Jehoaddan, became the 8th king to rule Judah, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born.
