...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Heard Tell

Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem-judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons. And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehem-judah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there. And Elimelech Naomi's husband died; and she was left, and her two sons. And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years. And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband. Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread. Wherefore she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her; and they went on the way to return unto the land of Judah.-Ruth 1:1-7***During a famine in Canaan, the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Abraham's descendants, Abraham journeyed with his wife Sarah (Sarai) and their nephew Lot to Egypt. After Abraham, Sarah and Lot returned to Canaan, they did not journey to any other land. When a famine occurred during the lifetime of Abraham and Sarah's only child Isaac, the Lord God told Isaac not to go to Egypt. The Lord God told Isaac to stay in Canaan, and the Lord God told Issac he would be with Isaac, and bless Isaac, and give Canaan to Isaac and Isaac's descendants, and in Isaac's descendants all nations shall be blessed. When Isaac was 40 years old, he was married to Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece.  Fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to Isaac and Rebekah. Decades after Esau and Jacob were born, Jacob deceived Isaac and cheated Esau, and Isaac sent Jacob from their home in Beersheba, Canaan, to Rebekah's family in Padan Aram, Haran. While asleep and dreaming in Bethel (Luz), Canaan, Jacob saw a divine vision in a dream and the Lord God promised to give Canaan to Jacob, and the Lord God told Jacob that in Jacob's descendants all nations shall be blessed. During Jacob's 7th year in Haran, Jacob was married to Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean). Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and daughter Dinah were born to Jacob and Leah. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant. During a famine that occurred while Jacob was 130 years old, Jacob moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt, the country wherein Joseph was second-in-command. During the journey, the Lord God told Jacob not to be afraid to go to Egypt, and the Lord God said that he would make Jacob a great nation, and would go down with Jacob to Egypt. Over 650 years after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt and Jacob's family buried his body in Canaan, Elimelech and Naomi were living in Bethlehem, in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Judah. During a famine, Elimelech and Naomi journeyed with their sons Mahlon and Chilion to settle amid the Moabites, the descendants of Lot and Lot's oldest daughter, and the son, Moab, born to Lot and his daughter. After Elimelech died, each son married a Moabite woman. Sometime thereafter, childless Mahlon and childless Chilion died. When Naomi heard that the Lord God was providing for the Israelites in her homeland, she began journeying with her daughters-in-law Orpah and Ruth towards Bethlehem. After a gentle prodding and tearful goodbye, Orpah returned to the Moabites. Ruth arrived in Bethlehem with Naomi, and became the wife of Boaz, Naomi's wealthy relative. Obed was born to Boaz and Ruth. Jesse was born to Obed. David was Jesse's 8th born son. Over a decade after David was born, Samuel the priest, prophet and judge from the tribe of Levi anointed David to reign as king, according to the command of the Lord God. When David was 30 years old, he began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. When David was 37 1/2 years old, he became the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites. Over 900 years after Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
