...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Do the Do's, Don't the Don'ts, and Be the Be's

Moses speaks to his fellow Israelites:

When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these thing are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God. For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.-Deuteronomy 18:9-14***During the 40th year after Moses and his older brother Aaron led their fellow Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God, 123-year-old Aaron died upon Mount Hor.  Shortly thereafter, Moses spoke to the Israelites about the journey from Egypt, and the promises that the Lord God gave to their ancestors Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), Isaac and Jacob (Israel).  Moses restated the commandments, judgments, statutes, and laws that the Lord God gave for the Israelites, including the actions that were abomination to the Lord God. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, was from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Over 1,300 years after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Jacob's 3rd born son Levi. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Jesus spoke about an action that is an abomination to the Lord God. Throughout the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible, a multitude of abominations to the Lord God are revealed, including: idols and graven (sculptured) images, lofty eyes, tongues and lips of falsehood, a heart that plans wicked acts, hands that cause the outpouring of innocent blood, feet that quickly run to evil, people who justify the wicked, people who condemn the righteous, people who in their heart think highly of themselves or are perverse, people  perverse in their heart, people who are devious, people who send strife between brethren, the thoughts, manner and sacrifices of the wicked, the sacrificing of blemished animals to the Lord God, deceitful weights, measures and scales, and everything seen as high or lofty among men.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Leviticus 18:1-30, 20:1-27, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy, Joshua 1:1-4:24, Proverbs 3:1-35, 6:1-35, 11:1-12:28, 15:1-17:28, 20:1-21:31, 29:1-27, Isaiah 1:1-31, 44:1-28, Jeremiah 2:1-37, 6:1-30, 8:1-22, 32:1-44, Ezekiel 16:1-63, 18:1-32, 22:1-31, 33:1-33, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
