The Mercy Seat
And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof. And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof. And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be. And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.-Exodus 25:17-22***When the Israelites were in the desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai months after Moses and Moses' older brother Aaron led them away from Egyptian slavery, the Lord God gave Moses commands for consecrating the camp and the Israelites. After the Lord God descended in fire atop Mount Sinai, Moses spoke to the Lord God, and Moses heard the Lord God speaking to him. All of the Israelites heard the voice of the Lord God proclaim the Ten Commandments, and the Israelites were frightened. Thus, according to the request made by the Israelites, the Lord God spoke only to Moses. The Lord God gave Moses judgments for the Israelites, and Moses wrote the words of the Lord God into the Book of the Covenant, and Moses sprinkled the Israelites and the Book of the Covenant with blood. Afterwards, Moses, and Aaron, and Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu, and 70 Israelite elders went upon Mount Sinai. Joshua was upon Mount Sinai when Moses went alone farther up Mount Sinai. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Moses was in the presence of the Lord God 40 days and nights. The Lord God gave Moses commands for receiving the offering that the Israelites were to bring, and the Lord God described to Moses and showed Moses the likeness of the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and the mercy seat, and the table for the showbread (shewbread), and the lampstand, and the oil for the lampstand, and the tabernacle and its courtyard, and the altar of burnt offering, and the garments for the priests, and the incense and the altar of incense, and the bronze basin, and the sacred anointing oil, and the curtain to hang in front of the ark of the covenant, that the Israelites were to make. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron died. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua was Moses' successor and was from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Jacob and Rachel's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Over 1,300 years after 110-year-old Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 4:1-5:33, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, Hebrews 8:1-9:28
