...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Holy Scriptures have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

The Mercy Seat

And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof. And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof. And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be. And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.-Exodus 25:17-22***When the Israelites were camped in the desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai months after being led away from Egyptian slavery by Moses and his older brother Aaron, the Lord God gave Moses commands for consecrating the camp and the Israelites. After the Lord God descended in fire atop Mount Sinai, Moses spoke to the Lord God. Moses heard the the Lord God speaking to him, and all of the Israelites heard the voice of the Lord God proclaim the Ten Commandments to them. The Israelites were frightened. Thus, according to the request made by the Israelites, the Lord God spoke only to Moses and gave Moses judgments that Moses proclaimed to the Israelites. Moses wrote the words of the Lord God into the Book of the Covenant, and Moses sprinkled the Israelites and the Book of the Covenant with blood. Afterwards, Moses, Aaron, Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu, and 70 Israelite elders went upon Mount Sinai. Joshua was upon Mount Sinai when Moses went alone farther up Mount Sinai in the presence of the Lord God for 40 days and nights. During the 40 days and nights, the Lord God described and showed to Moses everything  for making the ark of the covenant of the Lord and the mercy seat, the table for the showbread (shewbread), the lampstand, the oil for the lampstand, the transportable tabernacle, its courtyard, the altar of burnt offering, the garments for the priests, the incense and the altar of incense, the bronze basin, the sacred anointing oil, and the curtain to hang in front of the ark of the covenant, in the tabernacle, in the Most Holy Place, the Holy of Holies. During the 40th year of their journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Aaron died and was buried upon Mount Hor, and Moses went upon Mount Nebo. The Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and Moses died and was divinely buried. Over 1,300 years after Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land,  Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 4:1-5:33, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, Hebrews 8:1-9:28
