chose Joshua to be Moses' successor and lead the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land. The Lord God chose Othniel, Ehud, Shamgar, Deborah, Gideon (Jerubbaal), Tola, Jair, Jephthah, Ibzan, Elon, Abdon, Samson, and Samuel as judges to lead the Israelites. The Lord God chose Saul to reign as the 1st king over the Israelites in the Promised Land. The Lord God chose David to reign as the 2nd king over all of the Israelites. The Lord God chose Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, to reign as the 3rd king and build the temple of the Lord God that David wanted to build. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to reign over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation and Samaria was the final royal city. The Lord God chose Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, to rule over the northern nation of Israel. The Lord God chose the Assyrians to invade the northern nation of Israel and conquer Samaria. The Lord God chose the Babylonians (Chaldeans) to invade Judah and conquer Jerusalem. Both kingdoms were conquered, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. The Lord God chose Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth) to be the parents of John the Baptist. The Lord God chose Mary, a virgin, to be the mother of Jesus the Christ, the Son of God. The Lord God chose Joseph, a craftsman, to be the husband of Mary. Months after John the Baptist was physically conceived in Elizabeth's womb, Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb when Mary was a virgin. Months after John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi, Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah, the tribe of David and his descendants, all of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that John the Baptist was born to prepare people for Jesus the Christ. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. Jesus chose specific Israelite men, including Simon Peter, Andrew, James, John, Philip, Matthew (Levi), and Judas Iscariot, to follow him and be his disciples and apostles. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus, and Jesus was arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, and returned to heaven. Paul (Saul) was an Israelite from the tribe of Benjamin, the birth tribe of King Saul. Throughout Jerusalem, Paul began persecuting and imprisoning Israelites who believed Jesus to be the Christ. When Paul was journeying to the synagogues in Damascus, Syria, to find more Israelite believers, Paul and those with him saw a light from heaven flash around them. Paul heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him, and Paul spoke to Jesus, and obeyed Jesus. In Damascus Paul was baptized. From thenceforward, Paul the apostle journeyed and wrote divinely inspired letters, teaching the good news of Jesus the Christ and everlasting life to Israelites and Gentiles, people not born into the Israelite tribes.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 6:1-8:4, 9:1-31, 11:19-28:31, Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon
