...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Called - Chosen

Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.-1 Corinthians 1:1-9***The Lord God chose Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and told Abraham to leave his country and kin and come into the land he would be shown. Abraham moved away from Ur with his wife Sarah (Sarai), their father Terah and nephew Lot, and journeyed to Haran in northern Mesopotamia. Sometime after 205-year-old Terah died and was buried in Haran, Abraham, Sarah and Lot journeyed with their servants and possessions to Canaan. The Lord God promised to give Canaan to Abraham's descendants and Abraham. When Abraham was 86 years old, Ishmael was born to Abraham and Hagar, Sarah's maidservant. When Abraham was 100 years old, Isaac was born to Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. When Isaac was 40 years old, he became the husband of Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. During the 20th year of their marriage, fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to Isaac and Rebekah. Decades thereafter, Jacob was married to Rebekah's nieces Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean). The Lord God promised to give Canaan to Isaac and Isaac's descendants, and the Lord God promised to give Canaan to Jacob and Jacob's descendants. Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob and Rachel. The Lord God chose Joseph to be sold to traveling merchants and sold to Potiphar, an Egyptian official. After Joseph was  imprisoned for years due to the false accusation of Potiphar's wife, Joseph became second-in-command in Egypt. After experiencing famine in Canaan, and learning of a reunion with Joseph, and receiving a request from Joseph, and the consent of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, 130-year-old Jacob moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt and his family buried his body in Canaan, and 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. The Lord God chose Moses and Moses' older brother Aaron to speak to the Israelite elders, and to Pharaoh, and lead the Israelites away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur. The Lord God chose Aaron and Aaron's sons and the sons born to their descendants to serve the Lord God as priests. The Lord God chose the other men in the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi, the birth tribe of Aaron and Moses, to serve as assistants to the priests at the tabernacle. The Lord God
chose Joshua to be Moses' successor and lead the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land. The Lord God chose Othniel, Ehud, Shamgar, Deborah, Gideon (Jerubbaal), Tola, Jair, Jephthah, Ibzan, Elon, Abdon, Samson, and Samuel as judges to lead the Israelites. The Lord God chose Saul to reign as the 1st king over the Israelites in the Promised Land. The Lord God chose David to reign as the 2nd king over all of the Israelites. The Lord God chose Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, to reign as the 3rd king and build the temple of the Lord God that David wanted to build. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to reign over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation and Samaria was the final royal city. The Lord God chose Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, to rule over the northern nation of Israel. The Lord God chose the Assyrians to invade the northern nation of Israel and conquer Samaria. The Lord God chose the Babylonians (Chaldeans) to invade Judah and conquer Jerusalem. Both kingdoms were conquered, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. The Lord God chose Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth) to be the parents of John the Baptist. The Lord God chose Mary, a virgin, to be the mother of Jesus the Christ, the Son of God. The Lord God chose Joseph, a craftsman, to be the husband of Mary. Months after John the Baptist was physically conceived in Elizabeth's womb, Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb when Mary was a virgin. Months after John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi, Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah, the tribe of David and his descendants, all of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that John the Baptist was born to prepare people for Jesus the Christ. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. Jesus chose specific Israelite men, including Simon Peter, Andrew, James, John, Philip, Matthew (Levi), and Judas Iscariot, to follow him and be his disciples and apostles. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus, and Jesus was arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, and returned to heaven. Paul (Saul) was an Israelite from the tribe of Benjamin, the birth tribe of King Saul. Throughout Jerusalem, Paul began persecuting and imprisoning  Israelites who believed Jesus to be the Christ. When Paul was journeying to the synagogues in Damascus, Syria, to find more Israelite believers, Paul and those with him saw a light from heaven flash around them. Paul heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him, and Paul spoke to Jesus, and obeyed Jesus. In Damascus Paul was baptized. From thenceforward, Paul the apostle journeyed and wrote divinely inspired letters, teaching the good news of Jesus the Christ and everlasting life to Israelites and Gentiles, people not born into the Israelite tribes.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 6:1-8:4, 9:1-31, 11:19-28:31, Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon
